    Welcome to Grand Adventure, a RUclips channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
    We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on RUclips, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
    We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

    At age 20 the US Army sent me from Maryland (dark green) to Arizona (brown). I travelled on I 10 through New Mexico and thought, "how can people live here?" Later in life I had a business meeting in Albuquerque. We went to Old Town and up the Sandia Tram. I fell in love with New Mexico and have visited every corner of this beautiful state many times. In fact, it's now my favorite state. Thanks for the memories.

    We were on that cable car about five years ago. It was a zoo due to the large crowds in for the balloon festival. And it was cold! We had to queue up outside for close to an hour. However, it was so worth it. Thanks for the memories. Your video was fantastic!

    Great job showing some highlights of our home, Albuquerque! The Sandia mountains west side are mostly desert as you saw on your tram ride. The east side is all heavy forest...and the whole mountain is wilderness with hundreds of miles of hiking. Its so fantastic to be able to leave our house, drive to a trailhead and hike in the mountains, and be home in the afternoon. We've been here for 16 years now and still love love love it. We out camping on weekends around the state, too, so much to see and do in the Land of Enchantment. Next time your in the neighborhood you should let us know and we can show you around the mountain. Cheers.

    I am paranoid of tire and bearing failures on anything while traveling. For the small travel trailer I bought to replace the motorhome, I removed all of the "perfectly good" China made wheel bearings and spent a $135 and bought all USA made Timken bearings and races, packed them with Amsoil Moly Fortified synthetic grease and before the first trips in the spring will get a new set of Carlisle Radial Trail HD tires mounted. A co-worker has been running the Carlisle's and has not had a moments trouble with them.

    Sorry I missed the Old Town and the mountain tram the last time I was in Albuquerque. Both looked cool. Actually the tram looked a little scary.
    I was visiting a friend of the family and at that time was distracted by all the balloons going up into the air.

    I have enjoyed your videos immensely over the last week as I peruse them. My wife and I are going to be part time, then perhaps full-time RV'ers starting this summer and we are consuming a lot of these types of informational vids. I appreciate the work you put into them, and the nice camera work. I only have one suggestion (not a complaint). The music is always just slightly louder on my TV or headphones than the talking and causes me to have to to turn down the TV, then turn it back up when you are talking. Not bad, still watching, just a suggestion. -

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  5 лет назад

      @techservant, that's a perfectly fair criticism, and we've been fighting to try to achieve that perfect balance. What we've found is that RUclips adds some audio normalization when processing uploads, so what we produce isn't always what we get online. Rest assured that we continue to try to find that sweet spot!

    It appears someone better not have a fear of heights if taking the tram ride! Maybe the video makes it look more thrilling than it is. Anyway, the video was a great presentation.
    Your bearing issue does bring up an interesting topic of how to go about finding a trusted shop for repairs when in a strange town. I was camped near Socorro a couple of years ago and ended up breaking a part that holds the propane tanks. I ultimately ended up in Albuquerque at a great RV store that had everything, but it took some work to discover it.
    Here is a scenario for you on your tire related issues. The trailer is out of alignment as evidenced by the two tires with adverse wear. The alignment issue put stress on the wheel bearing causing it to overheat. The heat transferred into the wheel, heating up the tire causing it to blow. How is that for an active imagination! It will be interesting to find out what the alignment shop finds upon your return home.
    Hopefully there will be no more road side events for the next video.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  5 лет назад +1

      It's a good theory, Bruce, and certainly one that crossed my mind. As for the tram, it's actually more thrilling in person!
      Regarding shops, we didn't have much choice. We called about a dozen places but the shop we chose was the only one that would take us.

    • @davepritchard4101
      @davepritchard4101 5 лет назад +1

      RE: uneven tire wear, more specifically more wear on the inside of tire edge, might be caused by the bearing wearing. Occasionally (some say every 3k miles) jack up the side and check for play by grasping the top and bottom of the tire and alternately wiggle the wheel top/bottom. If it moves much due to normal wear, the bearing needs to be tightened to prevent bearing failure. Loose bearings allow the wheel's top to tilt in putting stress wear on the inside tire edge - a typical flag to check
      Since your failure wasn't on the same axle you noted the wear on, it's quite possible the tire shop tightened the bearings on the axle they worked on and didn't check the other. Or they over tightened the one that failed. ???
      This is another place for that old Gilda Radner SNL line ~it just goes to show ya it's always something! I miss her ... :-)

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  5 лет назад

      @@davepritchard4101 LOL at the Gilda Radner quote - that was back when SNL was actually funny! Initial thoughts are over tightening, as the shop said that the threads showed signs of that. Great info - thanks!!
