Yeah, plug-ins mostly only ping Diamond and Ancient Debris, unless some weirdo is spectating everyone, they'd never know, even gold or iron
Different plugins existed.
One that's pinging on every ore block (shown here, though it combines the entire ore patch). Even iron and gold produced too many pings.
Then there was a less known statistical tracker. It would allow to see a player's ore stats. You can't hide from this other than mining as much stone as you do ore. However, caves changed this game.
Servers with trading & economy plugins today just beg for an automated afk method to farm the most valuable item available for selling.

- Change the title of the stream to " I use Xray "

I think they only banned him because he specifically asked for it, they probably liked that he was xraying for coal, because unlike xraying for valuable resources, nothing is being lost and he is providing a valuable service to make coal more easily available for purchase on the server, all while increasing the ratio of remaining valuable resources left to be mined. I think they only would want to ban xray-ing not because they are using an xray mod, but because they are griefing the server, and it is different in this case.

10:30 OGs now that universal xray mod that lets you choose which block to show, usually xrayers disable coal ore entirely so your base is still not hidden
If your legit about hiding from xrays you use multi ore layers, and if we are being real you only need a small space for a chest to store while your logged off so you could easily have 4 layers of different ore around a chest in decreasing value and not have it seem to big and still work
But ultimately there is a reason servers like this give players money on their account
The real way to x-ray proof it is by making a 50 block cube of diamond ore. No X-rayer will look in that direction.

There was a mod on modders servers that reduced x-ray, it modified the chunks send to clients, any block that is not touching air in all sides was not sent, so the client would not know the ores, only te exposed ones, I think it was called chunk obfuscation or something the downside is that it was performance intensive to generate fake chunks to send to clients like 2x world generation
