It is pretty much TXRZ, just with better graphics and more realistic physics. And yes, the performance level of every car has more to do with tuning rather than the base model. I used the Toyota Chaser through the whole game. Compare its performance in the first video to how it runs in the last video.
for every racing game ive played i like this most becuz it has whats called a unlimited power source.... All games u have a limit amount of power u can put in a car (which is super stupid) but on this game u can grab idk any kind of car and keep tuning it like in real life
@aaronrocs yeah i agree at some of your point, but if you're play with GEAR RATIO and the right tuning even if skyline, supra, or RX 7 can't more than 365 KPH or 234 MPH and almost can't be beaten

For most cars the best engine is almost always the turbo inline 6, but with some cars it can be different. You just need to see what happens to the HP and torque while you're in the menus and choosing the engine.
@NailStrafer I think I may have got the #'s wrong. I'm going off a 5 year old memory. I remember that of all the combination's of car's and engine's, RX-7 was the fastest. Also I think the weight might have been in the very low 1200kgs. I played the hell out of that game and I tried many things, but nothing beat the RX-7. The power to weight ratio is the best in the game, so there's no beating the acceleration. Just don't use any reinforcement. Possibly not the highest top end U may B Right.

Ignore my last comment... I found that N/A rotary engine is the best option with its low weight and high output. It has nasty top speed (untuned N/A rotary can hit 183 mph) and its acceleration is brutal enough.

i had this glitch in Osaka where i challenged a car and then in the countdown screen he hit a split rise in the road. Then the countdown screen went on forever and i had to restart my ps2. I had just got a new level and $100,000....
The V8 is more powerful, but it weighs more and it has less torque than the I6 engine. That's why the I6 is typically the best engine on every car, except on the Wangan.
i just got an engine swap and i'm still one Stage One but i could only afford the L4 , my spending habits are too much so i had about 65000 Cp after A LOT of spending (i had about 130000CP)
is more easier if you beat the game once after this you will have the engine swap mode for all your cars. believe me is more easy than leaving your PS2 turned on the entire night!!!!

It's not that simple. If you get the engine swap earlier than you're supposed to, you're kind of swapping one set of problems for another. Sure, you're faster, but you have to visit the pits a lot more often. And it will be difficult to keep control of the car since your car's other parts won't be caught up for a while. I actually think I lost more races after I got this engine than before...because of those two problems. Maybe I should have just waited till after C1.

Well, I had an old PS2 that was already pretty far gone, so I did the mileage glitch on that one. Myself, I would not recommend doing the mileage glitch more than a couple of times.
It's too bad that when you first beat Stage One and you have the miles for an engine swap, the swapped engine will heat up so quickly, you'll only last two or three races before your car overheats. You don't unlock the last engine cooling part until late in the game...

well you can finish the game without the 100%mof the game and still you can unlock the engine swap for all your cars and about the wanderer sorry you need to find a gameshark to race with him cause you need exactly 999999999 but the game only reach 999999994 or something so buy one cheap in ebay i recomended i did it too
God Hand...or as you'd say it in the Japanese commercial...GODU HANDU!!! Just go search for it. It's awesome. If you wanna buy God Hand, it's on the PS2 as well and it should be pretty cheap to buy online.

really the game is moderate is not hard if you have a well equiped car like the R34 or the subaru you can finish the game really try it the only one thats hard is the spra trio those cars are the only ones in the game that i failed like 40 times

Now I know that's wrong. I have finished the main quest in this game a few times and I never got engine swaps for all my cars. I know you have to finish the game 100% (all wanderers) if you want to get New Game Plus.

In the American version, there is a wanderer that is literally impossible to race without a gameshark. Thus, you cannot finish the game 100% and get New Game Plus without a gameshark. It has nothing to do with difficulty. I've been through this game three times (the main drivers anyway). But I've never been able to beat it fully because of that one damn rival.

Like he said in the video, engine swapped it, and no other parts are up to the tier the engine is, so the cooling system isn't as efficient.
