Today August 15, 2022 as I sit on my porch listening To Marvin, it brings back memories as I was returning from the war overseas, remembering the brothers that gave their all and are not coming home. But 50 yrs later the words are still revelant and yet we are still suffering at the hands of our oppressor's and we are turning a blind eye to the chaos and strife that we fought so hard to get away from then!! Marvin came with the message and left us too soon so did teddy pentergrass listen of those of that time the message is there. My daughter is 50 I explain about that decade she just like my sister. She loves the music and that time she said music spunk we had was heavy. She hates the world the way it is and so do I .but I love earth and real people.
I was in high school... Mumford in Detroit about a mile from Marvin's home on the corner of Outer Drive and Pennington. We would drive by his home wishing to see him but never did. But that time in our life was entangled in heroin and what went along with it. And his songs just tied into everything... it was a turbulent time in our lives when we could all relate to the message Marvin was singn bout you because it was so evident in our lives
Us Baby boomers were lucky to have experienced this album in real time from 1971. I was 16 when this was released. If you were 6 and below in 71. You young'uns missed it Edit: GenX RELYING on your older family members doesn't give you the same experience as actually being of a certain age and buying it on release in 1971 and playing it as a teen/20s.

Mr.Gaye was before his time.Everthing he sang about was relevant at that time. And we are 👁️👁️the same thing today.Music relvelation..🎵🎹🎶🎤
We never were "FREE" evil 😈 is ruling in the governments around the world 🌎.

Excellent job, dearest John Ancotte capturing the soul of Marvin Gay through his thematic concerns by jamming these four tracks.
Rest in peace Marvin
Us Baby boomers were lucky to have experienced this album in real time from 1971. I was 16 when this was released. If you were 6 and below in 71. You young'uns missed it
Edit: GenX RELYING on your older family members doesn't give you the same experience as actually being of a certain age and buying it on release in 1971 and playing it as a teen/20s. Stop projecting your emotions on an era you missed out on
Noone should miss it u can still get it
I was 11 and used play mercy mercy me to death! That along with If there’s a hell below. Yes we’re the lucky generation. I always say that we had the best of both worlds. If your parents were like mine you probably also heard a lot of jazz and blues too 😉.
I was 4 but i didnt miss it. Pure genius
@@jaygaston1719 lol if you were 4 then yes you did miss it. I was listening to Marvin Gaye before you were born. Stick with your era kid, shame you missed out
@@Jcrash71 i was listening to it at 4 years old, as I was listening to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Jerry Butler, etc from that time on. Dont tell me what I missed and what to stick to.
Just bc you were listening b4 i was born doesnt mean I didnt have a profound appreciation for the music as well.
Listen to this this is for now but it was made back then and you can relate to it now and that’s when times was good

He was definitely taken too soon.
I read he has some songs that weren't released, but should be coming out.
Hope there is no legal problem that prevents his music to be produced.
This is one of my favorite photos. The album cover with his face to the rain. That was after TAMMY TERRILL PASSED.

El sonar de el triángulo, platillos, violines es de una extraordinaria exquisitez, una orquesta de cámara dulce aunada a su voz hacen que mi imaginación vuele. Mágico.
