I was a photojournalist for 40 years, there’s a couple rules: 1 If you’re on public property you have the right to take photos and video. 2. Never argue with a cop. Sometimes it’s a dance. This was a good video, thanks.
Everytime you explain the steps you take, it reminds me it isn't just a box you get upright. Technically difficult job with all the variables. I really like your style. Thanks for another great vid, and don't mind it isn't in 4k this time😂😂. Much love from the Netherlands.
Another excellent recovery. I do find it very odd that the driver thought the container was empty. I am not a truck driver, but the driver should be able to tell an empty container from a full one by the way the truck accelerates and handles. Stay safe my friend.
Good job of making the best of a less than perfect situation. I have noticed that Alex has become the technitian of choice. Does this mean that Josh is now a big time movie producer? All kidding aside, this was a very good example of the variety of situations that Pepe's encounters. Thanks
Hahaha good one 😂 all my guys stay BUSY. But not everyone is as tech savvy and can record plus operate the rotator. So you’re seeing and will be seeing tons more content on solo stuff that Alex does. Allows me to breathe a bit more too and catch up on real work stuff lol
@@PepesTowingService you have a good point on that Josh. I know not every Heavy-Duty driver will operate the rotator truck doesn't matter what rotator out of the 6 it may be. I know the Heavy-Duty drivers who don't drive the rotators will either use the semi Trucks, wrecker tow trucks or the semi Truck with the Detachable Towing Unit.
That is the 605 North transition. I live just a couple miles from there and saw this one a couple weeks ago on my way to work. I thought of Pepe's! That curve flips at least one or two rigs a year! Keep cranking out the awesome videos boss!
Hey Josh !!! TOO Bad that you couldn't use your cameras ,,but with Lonnie videoing it helped tremendously !!! Great recovery that You & Omar did !!!🙂🙃😉🤠😎👍👍👍👍👍
I love watching those midair rolls and re-positioning moves. You really have to know your equipment and also work in close coordination with the operator of the other rotator to make it look simple and easy like you usually do. Thanks for the video.
No need to apologize for not getting the optimum video quality because we know it is not due to doing any thing less than a best effort. You may have missed your calling as a videographer.
If Omar is like me he needs 3 hands to help LOL love your videos be safe and have a great day Sam and by the way I drove a wecker from the time I was 16 until I was 21
Been on this ramp many times, tough narrow spot to work on. As I recall Caltrans completed upgrades on the entire freeway system to mitigate earthquake risk so I’m surprised they still require structural engineers to look site over. On the other hand, safety is always #1
They don't want too many heavy trucks too close together on the bridge. That causes something called a point overload. Point overloads occur at the piers holding up the bridge. Ideally, there would be 100 feet spacing between trucks to prevent overloading.
@@jsh6952 Exactly. The bridges are designed for trucks upright and driving. Putting two rotators next to each other while lifting a truck or trailer is more than they are typically designed to handle. That's like two trucks on top of each other from the bridge's perspective.
Not often you have a recovery of a trailer full of empty tear the fifth wheel plate off the tractor. That one was pretty tight too. Nice work with Titan.
I came across your channel and remember your dad and uncle in a lot near 60 and Lorena, I think they ran a Hino. I remember Manny more, he was always the hustler. I didn't realize your guys got as big as you are, you took over the Continental location. I worked down there for a year and in 1990, went back home. For you and your Pop's working together, I worked with Atlas with the owner and his sons. The work is way less up here as Southern Calif trucking and freeways can be crazy. As for the Sgt saying no filming, yes, you listen to him, but then get to that area's tow officer to find out what you can do better, or what the tow officer can tell the shift sgts so you can put up some great videos. Never looked at lien sales when I was down there, but I got the bug a little later. Be safe and you have some good employees.
Hey brother I've been watching your videos for a long time this is the first time I saw your face and I know in that part of the country with that accent I know hard work had it in you keep them damn good videos coming that brother
I've taken my semi over that bridge several times, loaded to about 79,000lbs gross. Gotta be careful on the curves....🤭🤭 I'm curious - with the fifth wheel plate still attached to the trailer, how'd you guys get the trailer to a yard?
Wrong. When you have a contract with them you have certain rules. Filming is one. If they say no, it’s no. While I never have an issue, it does happen sometimes
If a train derailed would you guys bring in truck wise the rotator trucks & semi trucks? My friend who has a towing company has did major train derailments & he said the rotator trucks & the semi Trucks are the only ones they will roll in.
Nice job doing what you needed to do Josh considering what the officer wanted you to do buy removing your camera. This is another side of your job we usually don't see but like you said... it happens and we're glad you can fill in the gaps in other ways... so that we can see what's going on... imo you're always about quality and being precise...! Love that part about you...! 👍👍
How does a driver take a trailer without knowing if it’s loaded or not? I mean, it’s a little Freightliner, you would feel an extra apple in your lunchbox with that little thing.
Nice recovery, but it leaves me with two questions: (1) I've seen many interactions with you and the CHP. It has always seemed like you operate as a team. We can't hear what the officers are saying, but you always seem very polite. So I was surprised to hear that the CHP wanted the camera shut down. What reason would there be for that? (2) I'm curious how the trailer was taken from the scene with no kingpin.

Drivers are required, by law, to have a Bill of Lading for their load that lists the type of freight and the weight. I would tell the police that you are recording for legal reasons so any damage is documented.
THat sucks you could not record it with the tripod, why was that not allowed. At the very least I would think you could use it in case insurance is like "no you did that damage"
But it’s not even my job. If the drivers insurance wanted to speak to anyone regarding the bill or damage they’d call titan tow. I’m sub contracted. Really not that big a deal

I was joking partly 😂 I'm not sure if you've seen the movie 22 Jump Street but I always reference that scene when they keep expecting cars to blow up from crashing. Either way we do disconnect on certain situations like major leaks. But for the most part on a basic rollover we do not
Why did CHP not want you recording? Even if it was a documentary, why would they object? The highway is a public space, so I don’t think they have a right to tell you what to do! Other than to enforce the rules of the road that is.
For the tenth time like all the other comments, it’s in our contract that they can dictate that. Really not that big of a deal. I’m not a random person with a phone out filming. They can make the call to not allow it when they call us to do the job

The steering wheel holders in many trucks today are clueless.
I can't believe how much force was required to rip that 5th wheel off the rig itself. Good Lord!
Right? It rarely happens. First sign I knew it couldn’t be empty
Looks like the 5th wheel slide mechanism was a weak point.
That 5th wheel was way overloaded. More than likely, that container is over 50k, maybe even 60k instead of the legal 40k maximum.
Video quality is good here
Quality was still ok. And it’s a pleasure watching y’all do your thing.

I never saw it before and I have never seen a king pin break very unusual
Well the king pin is on the trailer, that didn’t break. It’s the 5th wheel plate on the tractor that broke off.
I've taken my semi over that bridge several times, loaded to about 79,000lbs gross. Gotta be careful on the curves....🤭🤭
I'm curious - with the fifth wheel plate still attached to the trailer, how'd you guys get the trailer to a yard?
We had to cut a piece of the plate so we can dislodge it from the king pin then we brought in a tractor to tow the container. Lots of labor
It's a public roadway, there is NO expectation of privacy in public, recording is allowed, the cops should know that.
Wrong. When you have a contract with them you have certain rules. Filming is one. If they say no, it’s no. While I never have an issue, it does happen sometimes
Big difference between 'get the tripod out of the way' and 'no filming.'
@PepesTowingService that no filming applies only to you guys because you have that contract with them anybody else can film
Correct, which is why I stated the contract part of my response
It is what it is. Personally the tripod looks less intrusive than run and gun style filming
That ramp looks like it's seen it's share of rollovers looking at the wall & the ground all gouged up
If a train derailed would you guys bring in truck wise the rotator trucks & semi trucks? My friend who has a towing company has did major train derailments & he said the rotator trucks & the semi Trucks are the only ones they will roll in.

Nice video! I bet doing an overturned semi is hard to do at that bridge. Plus what year is UNIT 21 / THE BEAST?
Always a pro , Josh !
Time to get some rammount stuff with magnetic bases you can put the camera on your boom. Wonder if the driver picked up the wrong container
I am NOT putting my Sony fx3 cinema camera on the boom lol
Nice.
0:36 the bridge surface tells me there been a few that flopped over here, and i’m gonna guess that the camera is recording “evidence”
Yeah, that bridge deck looks like ones in Michigan. I'd rate that a letter D-, E+ ona grade scale.
So seeing all those gouges in the road cement, I take it their is a lot of rollovers on that overpass?
How does a driver take a trailer without knowing if it’s loaded or not? I mean, it’s a little Freightliner, you would feel an extra apple in your lunchbox with that little thing.

Trailer was probably taken with under-reach and chains.

Ok the container was empty.! So how in the hell did he flip it.??
You need a camera man. Nice job in a pinch!
And if those that understands states federal Homeland security'privacy rules took effect on recording
What happened to the detachable 5th wheel?
The 5th wheel plate? We take it off the king pin
The driver said it was empty? And so did the company?
What kind of a business are they running?.
MT + 2 rots equal wat 160k lbs?
Thank you, that will be $18,328.50
I wish. Second, how much do you think it should cost to upright a loaded tractor container on a two lane overpass?

Drivers are required, by law, to have a Bill of Lading for their load that lists the type of freight and the weight. I would tell the police that you are recording for legal reasons so any damage is documented.
I would if this was my job. I was called to assist so not even worth it or an issue
How did Omar haul that mess away?
They towed the tractor and I brought in a tractor for the container ? Pretty easy
@@PepesTowingService: Wow, impressed, even with that messed-up 5th wheel it was pretty easy?
I mean if they lied, I'd charge them double.
Can't a driver tell if his trailer is full or empty by how it pull down the road??? Seems like he could...
THat sucks you could not record it with the tripod, why was that not allowed. At the very least I would think you could use it in case insurance is like "no you did that damage"

Why is it that nobody disconnects the batteries on rollover trucks?, I would think it would be safety factor before you start a recovery
For what? I do maybe 100 rollovers per year alone. Do you think this is a Hollywood movie where by some unknown factor they just blow up?
