  • Alistair Begg has been a faithful Gospel preacher for many years but recently caused a great deal of confusion when he said that a Christian can attend a homosexual/trans wedding and even give a gift to the couple. We will discuss this and see whether or not the Bible affords the Christian this option.
    Time Stamps:
    00:00 - 03:26 Introduction
03:26 - 06:20 Alistair's view on homosexuality and being ready to pay the price
06:20 - 15:38 Alistair's advice to attend a homosexual wedding and biblical evaluation of the same
    15:38 - 18:15 Can I attend to be a witness?
    18:15 - 19:17 The witness to others
19:17 - 20:59 - What does this say to God?
    20:59 - 21:46 Gift giving and executions
21:46 - 25:32 Did I contact Alistair before making this video?
    25:32 - 26:25 Do I still recommend Alistair?
26:25 - 29:50 What about other wedding scenarios?
    29:50 - 33:15 Conclusion
Link to AFR's article detailing their overture to Alistair:

Then Justin, you are not allowed to attend any marriage of any couple who are not both saved. Sexual sin is sexual sin no matter what and all unsaved people are unequally yoked. God originally did set marriage between 1 man and 1 woman, but after the fall of mankind sin and illness entered into the world. Not all humans are man or woman. Now we have chimeras and hermaphrodite. Twins stuffed into one body... both a male and female. I have a child who has both male and female parts. The brain which is the consciousness God gave my child is female. Reproductive parts are male and female. If my child wanted to be married, does my child marry a man or woman? BTW, my child is a sinner saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. Do I attend the wedding or not. My child was formed both male and female in the womb.

My son is living as a woman. He had his name changed legally and is about to start transitioning. We have lovingly made it clear that we do not and cannot, according to God’s word, support him in any way. We will not call him by his chosen name or pronouns. Therefore, he has chosen to separate himself from us. He expects us to compromise but there is no compromising for our beliefs on his part. It is what it is. It breaks our heart but we will stand firm on the word of God and keep praying for him diligently.

Please consider sharing with your son that while he chooses to live as a woman, he can NEVER be one. As a trans, the hormones and surgical modifications are going to destroy his innate male characteristics, and many of their biological functions (not just sexually) can be permanently deformed. At the same time, he will never have all the female parts that the hormones he will receive are designed for life-long functions. He is, quite literally, opening his body to Pamdoras Box.
I pray that he can listen and heed the warnings from the growing body of DE-transitiiners. The bottom line is that he will NEVER be a woman. I hope he can discover truths about who he really is, and know that God has plans for him as a man.

I don't mean any disrespect, we all have to decide and we all are pretty smart and love God. My question is: why are there some things that is sinful and we tolerate, but other sins we want no part of. When your son was younger and took candy from a friend or hit someone, you din't distance youselves from him. We teach them and show love. If he wanted to be called a donkey, you would have, for a time. Can we show support and love in hopes that they eventually learn the truth. It took me 3 marriages and 40 years and a whole lot of sin before I found Jesus. Are we to lose patients with our children?

As some have already pointed out in this comment section, this video is more about "single issue" political activism and making a political statement about conservative Christian views on LGBTQIA+ matters, than theology.
There are many different ways to sin. For example, there is the sin of adultery. Why shouldn't there be a similar ban on weddings in which one or both of the "Christian" partners who are getting married is/are serial adulterers? My guess is that we will never see such a ban put forth by the leadership of the politically Right-Wing Conservative Christian community, that has come to be the only "faction" of the splintered and weakened Christian community that has taken on the responsibility of defending Christian beliefs and values, after the project was seemingly abandoned by the Christian "Left" for very puzzling and perplexing reasons.
That is why I refuse to join either one of your overly simplistic "carved out" political "factions", which seem to be the only two groups that exist in the news media. I have both "conservative" (if that is how one might wish to label them) Christian concerns, and "liberal" (or perhaps even "Left-Wing") concerns, that are continuously in (internal) dialogue and assessment with one another, because political matters are far more complex than we are being indoctrinated to believe they are.
With that said however, I believe you Right-Wing Conservative Christians have the freedom to arbitrarily pick and choose from a long list of sins, any one or two you want, to serve as a focus for protests and activism. But in so doing, don't be surprised by counter-protests and counter-activism by groups opposed to yours that are concerned about becoming marginalized when your group acquires the political power that it seeks.

What if it were your son or daughter? I wouldn’t want to attend, but I also wouldn’t want to create hatred and division within that family relationship. No matter what you choose it’s still a lousy situation. If you attend you disobey the Lord God. If you don’t attend you drive your beloved child further from you, and further from the truth of the Gospel. It’s a terrible situation, and many of us will eventually find ourselves in this situation as the whole LGBT stuff grows in popularity and more and more children claim that they are LGBT, even though they’re not, because it’s now the ‘cool and trendy thing’ that gets children the sort of attention and applause that they want from their classmates and Alt-Left atheist teachers.
I think that Mr. Begg was trying to say that by not going to her grandson’s sinful fake wedding she would drive him further down the path to the Lake of Fire and from the Lamb’s Book of Life. I think that was his point, but it wasn’t really expounded upon and is still wrong no matter what.
I absolutely believe that God the Holy Spirit will work on Mr. Begg and bring him to repent upon this issue and that he will be brought back into right fellowship with Him soon.

This young man was kicked out of his home at 15, he was a great kid, I'd known him for 10yrs. I waited for him to talk to me, to know what was going on with him. That took 3yrs. He knew the rules of my home and he didn't break those. When he turned 18, he told me he was gay, and wanted my opinion. I told him I loved him, but he was raised in church, and God says it's wrong. He came to me 12yrs later, thanked me for everything, but he was dying. He said by putting it simply, God said it's wrong, helped him. The next thing he ask was for me to walk him down the aisle to marry his husband. He said your the only Mom I've ever known. I told him I loved him too but I couldn't give him away in marriage. He didn't get married, but he called me two weeks before he died, I asked him if he was right with God
He said yes. The next call was to let me know he died. It broke my heart, but I couldn't do it knowing, if he's not saved, then I'm helping to send him to hell. I hope this might help somebody. God bless.

@@jeannec1308 There is a difference between you pushing someone away, and being pushed out of their lives by them. In 1 Corinthians 5 there is a so-called brother, who commits a grave sin, namely living with his father's wife. The apostle Paul condemns it with no small words and also forbids people to associate with such a 'Christian', yes, not even eat with him. To share a meal with others was and is still essential in many cultures around the world. When you saw a stranger, you invited him in for dinner. Abraham did so, Lot did so. It was considered very rude NOT to do so. Which means, that when Paul forbade them to even eat with such a 'Christian' you are making an extremely loud statement of disapproval. The text goes on:
"I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people; I did not at all mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the greedy and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to leave the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is a sexually immoral person, or a greedy person, or an idolater, or is verbally abusive, or habitually drunk, or a swindler-not even to eat with such a person. For what business of mine is it to judge outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the evil person from among yourselves."
This sheds a totally new light on our responsibility both towards those IN the church and towards those who are NOT IN the church.
In Luke 5: 27-32 we see Jesus' approach to grave sinners: "After that He went out and looked at a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax office, and He said to him, “Follow Me.” And he left everything behind, and got up and began following Him. And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them. The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling to His disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?” And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.”
Here's another time Jesus went in against the letter of the Law, to fulfil it with grace and truth. John 8: 1-11 "But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. And early in the morning He came again into the temple area, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began teaching them. Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery, and after placing her in the center of the courtyard, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” Now they were saying this to test Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. When they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Now when they heard this, they began leaving, one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman where she was, in the center of the courtyard. And straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on do not sin any longer.”
In the most holy prayer, that of Jesus, just before He was crucified, He prayed to the Father: "Just as You sent Me into the world, I also sent them into the world." John 17: 18
Concluding all this, I would say, that the advice Alastair gave in this situation, did not go in against the Bible. The young man knew, what his grandmother's stance was in the situation: that he was sinning. He was not IN the church for the church to judge. And Jesus Himself sat down and ate with the tax collectors (considered the utmost traitors) and other sinners. And as Jesus did not condemn the adulterous woman, nor are we to do so. As He came to seek the lost and save them, so we are to seek the lost and save them. But He did make sure to tell them and her the truth, that it was sin, which they and she did. But offering a hand of grace as well.
Now, when the grandson would want a church wedding, then that part for sure must be skipped. For it is true mockery and open rebellion. And I also advice people not to go to the official part with a worldly ceremony. But I think it is allowed to go afterward to the dinner.
On receiving the invitation, one ought to disclose kindly to the loved one, that is about to openly sin, even when they at that time might not truly understand it, that you believe they are committing a sin. I wrote 'kindly' because of this Bible verse: " Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?" Romans 2: 4.
If they hate you for it anyway and un-invite you, so be it. But if they value your presence, they must be willing to meet you halfway, that is After the ceremony. Which means you will possibly not be in the official photographs either, as a silent witness for the truth. They might want to mock you, but you showed your love. And you gave them a very prudent gift, like an intriguing book with a powerful Christian testimony, where someone was delivered out of a totally Different kind of bondage to sin. 'Different', for after all, you seek not to offend, and have them throw the book out unread, but you want to win them over.

They would not repent immediately (they had no Scripture). Five of us men in tbe church sent them an email lovingly appealing for them to repent . They agreed to study and get back with us. They are, but its been over six months with no answer yet. We are waiting in limbo.
Brother, the night that they publicly advised the church that it's ok to attend gay weddings it literally felt like a gut-punch. I went home and literally could not sleep. I went down into the library at 3 am and literally wept and tried to pray for 45 minutes straight. I'm still grieving.

The scenario of the letter seems contrived and devised to open up a discussion about why it is "loving and kind" to tolerate abomination. Sodomy is against the LAW, who is God.
We give way to this sin, which gives rise to the beast and his mark. This is the very context. (1 Kings 14.24; 15.12)
The abomination that causes desolation stand in the Holy place (Mt 24.15) and we are to blame for not condemning it. His people are perishing for lack of understanding. Too much "church", not enough Word of God.

@wasntme7845 I am not watering anything down. I just want people to condemn all the other things that are sinful that the church somehow overlooks, but the sin of homosexuality is the one thing they hammer on. The church should have been hammering on all these other sins just as hard over the years, but that haven’t. I think that is part of the reason we have church leaders who are ok with attend gay weddings. If we’re going to condemn on pastor for this we need to condemn all the others for all the other sinful things they have supported. To only hammer on gay weddings and leaving out all the other sexual sin that has been overlooked is not being biblical faithful.

I drove to Franklin, Tennessee to hear him when he was sponsored by another radio network, and I was awarded a prize for having come the farthest to that meeting. I spent one birthday weekend at his church. Never have I been so dismayed at anyone as I am with Begg. Perhaps not surprised, though. If you have heard his "apologia" he delivered Sunday night, Jan. 28, you will agree that his "cover-up" is worse than his "crime." Self-serving, pharasaic, making himself the victim, disparaging toward, as he called us, "American Evangelicals." Invoking his daughter for pity.

It has caused an uproar and he is being pressured heavily and told he is “unloving.” Some of these other moms have now blocked him, etc. Especially the mother and her closest friend.

Being loving is telling someone the truth even if they don't like it. It is very hard, but following Christ will cost us all friends, family, and a multitude of things we care about. The treasure of Jesus Himself and the kingdom of heaven is worth losing anything in this world. Your son is doing the right thing, not condoning a lifestyle of sin in someone who claims to be Christian.

    • @gardenjoy5223
      @gardenjoy5223 4 месяца назад +1

That's a difficult situation too! Indeed, where do we draw the line? My first thought is this: You wrote "All of the boys have contended with him from a Christian mindset but he will not listen." This means, that all did the loving thing, speaking the truth and warn him. This was indeed their first responsibility and they all took it. Praise God.
My second thought is this: Does this boy go to church? For the apostle Paul gives a very clear statement about sexual and other sins. 1 Corinthians 5: 1-8 "It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and sexual immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, namely, that someone has his father’s wife. You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst. For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, I have decided to turn such a person over to Satan for the destruction of his body, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. Therefore let’s celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."
But then the apostle Paul continues: "I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people; I did not at all mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the greedy and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to leave the world. Remove the evil person from among yourselves." Verses 9-13.
This same principle can be applied here. When the boy confesses to be a Christian, we are commanded to exclude such a person from the church and not even eat with him. So also not 'hang out' with him.
But if the boy does not confess to be a Christian, we are not obliged to do any of that. We are to judge those, who are IN the church only. Those outside God will judge.
It gets complicated, when he is still young enough for his parents to obligate him to come to church. But are not many teens of Christians showing sinful behavior? Remember: we are born as sinners. We are RE-born through the Spirit of God as saved saints. We cannot expect those, who are not reborn yet to be able to stop sinning. In fact the Bible calls them slaves to sin. But there's hope for all and God can wash us clean through the blood of Christ, shed on the cross, for the redemption of our entire beings.
If the boy goes to church because his parents demand it, and it is clear to the whole church, that he is still under the authority of his parents and brought there to gain the perspective of the gospel, then he must be treated as any other sinner: with compassion and truth in love. Always trying to get him up to where the others are. Praying for this snare of the devil to be lifted from him. Who knows what a powerful testimony this boy one day may have and how many he may win over to the Lord later on, because he knows what it is to be ensnared And delivered out of it!
But when the boy claims to be a Christian, and thus a so-called brother, we are to follow the rules of Matthew 18: 15-17 “Now if your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that on the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be confirmed. And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector." The Gentiles were seen as gross sinners and the tax collectors were seen as horrid traitors. No friendship between such were possible. Here the true disciple will choose the Lord over any friendship.
In the case of your son 'hanging out' with his friends, also with this boy, the perspective is again the following: does the boy claim to be a Christian? Step 1 and step 2 of Matthew 18 have already be taken here, step 3 must follow and if the boy doesn't listen, no matter how old he is, be it 13 or 16, he is not allowed in the church anymore, according to 1 Corinthians 5: 1-13. His rebellious presence would function like poison to the entire church. "Remove the evil person from among yourselves."
But, if this boy does not confess to be a Christian, it is to be assessed what influence the boys have on one another. Is he in a rather leading position? He and his sinful reasoning might turn others to fall! Is he in a following position? The stronger others might be able through their persistent friendship to win him over in the end. Whilst everybody is praying for him.
For sure this is no time for lukewarm 'Christianity'. The lukewarm make Jesus gag and He will vomit them out! (Revelations 3: 15-16 "‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth."
Notice, that Jesus is not vomiting out the 'cold'. He does not vomit out the person, who doesn't know Him yet. He vomits out the person, who claims to know Him, yet is no disciple of him, inflamed by the Holy Spirit.
If the confused and sinning boy is not spreading his sin in this group of friends, and he is not in a leading position, but instead the friends might be able to carry him to become saved over time, then one can still be his friend. Just like the four friends of the paralyzed man, that brought him to Jesus to be healed in Mark 2: 1-12 "When Jesus came back to Capernaum a few days later, it was heard that He was at home. And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer space, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. And some people came, bringing to Him a man who was paralyzed, carried by four men. And when they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and after digging an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralyzed man was lying. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking it over in their hearts, “Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins except God alone?” Immediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that they were thinking that way within themselves, said to them, “Why are you thinking about these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk’? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”-He said to the paralyzed man, “I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet, and go home.” And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Jesus first addressed the root cause of the man's problems, when He said "Son, your sins are forgiven." He might even be paralyzed due to a sexually transmittable sin, which could not be treated back then. See the love of Jesus, to first name him 'son' and then deal with his greatest worries! See the love of the 4 friends, who carried him all the way up to that house and who would not be stopped, but risked an angry house owner, and later had to repair that roof! But they stayed true to their friend and they brought him to Jesus and Jesus solved all of the man's problems.
I hope, I did not write all this down in vain, but you actually took the time to read it. I also hope it really does help both you and your son and all the others in your community. If you find it of value, you may let your son also read this and weigh it in his spirit and conscience. How commendable for a young man to not want to sin and even risk losing his close friends over that! And perhaps it must be so. But perhaps not. It really depends upon the situation. Your son can also talk this through with his Christian friends to see what is the right course for all of them and what God is asking from all of them.
Also, I would appreciate some feedback. God bless all of you!
Besides, I think that in the given situation with the grandson marrying a transgender person, Mr. Alistair Begg did not go in against the Bible. If you are interested in my reasons for that, and I believe them to be sound, than I can give you the comment with all the Bible verses pertaining to that as well. Also that is a matter of finding the right place to draw the line. And again, it all starts with 1 Corinthians 5: 1-13.
I don't doubt Mr. Peters' genuine concern, but I think there IS more to this matter to be said from the Bible's complete perspective.
May God, who combines love, truth, patience, kindness and righteousness all in Himself give you and your community much wisdom!

I am so sorry you are going through this. Forgive me, but my answer will be somewhat sarcastic. In my opinion, his friend's sexual confusion/choices are his friend's business, and none of your son's business. If it is your son's business, why draw the line with just the friends from school? Hey, let's follow God's instructions to the letter! Read 1 Corinthians 5: 9-13. So, if any of your friends, children, family, coworkers, contractors, employees, or neighbors are guilty of sexual immorality you are to refuse to associate with them at all. You are not even permitted to share a meal with them! Ignorance is no excuse. We all need to ask the people in our lives if they are engaging in sexual immorality, then do as God commands, cut them out of our lives entirely. This is clearly impractical. But I hope you see my point. Right now, how does your son know that another of his friends in his group isn't a closet homosexual? Shouldn't he make sure the rest of his friends are all straight? The Bible also tells us not to associate with non-Christians. Are all of your son's friends Christian? Would your son cut his best friend out of his life if this friend were to declare he had lost his faith? I'm sorry, but not one of us who is rational follows the Bible perfectly. I am a "struggling Christian" myself. It is issues like yours that are pushing me further from a literal interpretation of the entire Bible. There are just too many cracks in it to accept every word as truth. I'm over 50 now, and I'm not going to stop loving God, and I am still holding onto Jesus, but I am now willing to admit some of the Bible was written by men... fallible men. I would tell your son to shine his light and love on everyone equally. Don't be afraid to speak his mind to his transgender friend, but don't let that keep him from hanging out with him and giving him his love and friendship just as he would any other sinful child of God. Good luck.

“Love does not delight in evil” (I Cor. 13) is sometimes translated as “Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness.” Both mean that we should not celebrate what God says is wrong. Another example we are living in the "last days" and God is NOT mocked. Real love is the love of Christ, not the celebration of sin.

Prior to hearing you and others I thought I was okay. I didn't do any of the things that everyone readily recognizes as sin like committing adultery, stealing, etc. Oh, but when I got into the word of God , I began to recognize sin in myself that prior to I didn't know was sin. The Word showed me that some of my thoughts and behaviors that seemed right were actually sin. Glory to God!
