When I was at university my dissertation supervisor told me to "start writing..... Just write and stop the research" as I was overwhelmed by researching and was convinced I still hadn't researched enough. My supervisor was so right. I just needed to actually make a start and the rest would take care of itself. Turned out I loved writing my dissertation.
Learning when to stop researching is indeed as important a skill as learning how to research. My supervisor said this to me, and I often have to say it to my grad students.
I'm so tired of spending ages on projects and then procrastinating because I'm anxious about how long they'll take. Loving these tips and your pretty background! Thank you! :)
This is a very good video Cinzia! I totally agree, especially when you say that researching and writing an essay isn't about being the most original indie academic but rather about demonstrating a deep primary understanding of your text! I wish I would have had this video when I myself started studying!
I’m so glad I found this before going to Uni, I research loads anyway for fun and have since I was about 12, but I do find tips useful and like writing essays about the topics. Thanks, this was really helpful, I’ll definitely stick around your channel!
So glad to find videos like these. My parents and older gens always talk about learning to research in high school but we were never taught. Just how to google a question. Then when I got to college and was expected to know how I was and still am kinda lost
i'm 25 and going back to college and i'm trying to give myself a youtube crash course on everything i've forgotten. your channel is fantastic thank you so much
i've been struggling with this for years, and am so glad to have found this video! i literally cried when u said it is perfectly normal to be in that situation! thank you for the video!
Hey, are school assignments stressing you up? Having trouble juggling classes with work/life? Send me an email, and I will help you out. (maryjoykimmy@gmail.com). Do it and you'll never have to worry about good grades or deadlines ever again. (maryjoykimmy@gmail.com).
This video honestly beats many of the workshops and courses I was assigned in uni about effective researching. I love how to-the-point and focused your approach is (15 mins, I'll remember that!) I will be starting my PhD soon, and I am nervous as hades, but I can say it's been great discovering your channel and writing, and I am looking forward to learning more about your literary journey. Love, MK.
I’m researching how to organize research for writing a fiction book, so not exactly the same, but this was still super helpful. It’s been a loooong time since I graduated and I don’t think I was ever great at organizing research. Thank you for this!
To get through my bachelor’s, I had to learn to write without relying on research. To read my annotated bibliography, then forget about it. It helped me to mentalize and direct my research in the direction I wanted it to go. If I researched and then changed as I went along, I would fear plagiarizing again. That being said, that was where my writing was leaning toward in grad school.
I feel so dumb when it comes to research! I don't know why but I have a really hard time knowing where to start, and how to find more information . . the main research 'habit' (if you could call it that) is simply just asking google the question, but many times that can be hard find what I need and I want to change that! Being able to find your own information and do valuable research is such an important skill for everything, its definitely something I could improve upon!
thank you for the video😊 i just spent the whole weekend researching my topic went into a rabbit hole... got so stressed and overwhelmed with alot of journals i went through with zero results. This helped me alot. thank you
My college requires an English class called 'college writing and research' which went pretty in depth with how to research your papers. It was definitely helpful, but I think if it hadn't been reinforced by the other classes that I took (additional English classes) that I would be quite lost when I move onto university. I can't imagine that being the only class that I took that talked about it, but I know that's the case for a lot of students. I still found some really helpful points here, though, and I look forward to checking out the rest of your series. I REALLY liked that you focused on being efficient and effective when doing your research. That is something my research and writing class didn't really focus on . . . They focused a lot on finding sources in the first place, but I remember feeling super bogged down by all the content I was finding and feeling like I needed to read all of it so those are definitely things to keep in mind. Thanks for the video!
I have a theory that all writing is a type of or is story & communication & asking & answering the Who what where when which why how lie at the base of writing learning etc ,what is it / what is it not about any person place thing idea time event etc .great vid thanks.

I'm WAY OFF the target audience for your video, as a middle schooler who is in (almost) all aspects clueless about his future. I write for fun, and love getting into research. In your essay video, you said "I should write every essay as though I'm writing a letter to a dear friend who has no bloody clue what I'm talking about." I talk... plenty to my friends about my near obsessions and rabbit hole descents that take up much of my time: David Bowie, silent films, ABBA, Federico García Lorca (that's a new one!), Ouran High School Host Club, Oscar Wilde, and tidbits of history/pop culture. I want to take the next step further by introducing these extraordinary people, projects, and events to more than just half-interested circles in my small school. And writing is one of the ways I will express these topics. To do so, I'll have to change my approaches to non-fiction writing. I'm a very disorganized but passionate thinker. Your tip about writing and researching really stood out to me, and I find most of your tips helpful, so I've taken the time to jot down your advice in my notebook. I hope to fill the rest of the pages with my stories, essays, and drawings that will (hopefully) bring others as much happiness as they bring me. Thank you! And one day I might use the college advice, too.
This is such a helpful video! I can't wait for other videos in this essay writing/research series! I think it would be interesting if you demonstrated how to outline a paper before writing as well
Also it would be helpful to learn how to spot gaps in your own work. when i read my essay back to myself, it makes sense to me but then a professor will mark down any gaps in my research. the professor's comments make sense afterwards, i'm just hoping to have some sort of method that better finds these gaps before i submit!

Im a freshman in highschool and our school makes us do a mini high school thesis before our junior and senior year, i have 2 months to do it and i have no idea where to start. And now im here 😅
A lot of your videos are titled with questions that can be answered by 'Billy' Eduard Albert Meier (BEAM) & The Plejaren. Billy Meier is 86 years old and has written over 60 books (all German, some of them bilingual, with German on the left side and English on the right). There are people who spend everyday of their lives studying his material, which collectively is called "The Spiritual Teaching." He also has contact reports with the Plejaren, which has lasted for decades and will continue until the year 2029.
I am a shit reader and writer and struggle so much 😭 in the last year of degree and hoping for a miracle. Just hoping I'll find some good stuff to read

Wish I had this in grad school! Though writing as you research doesn’t work for everyone (by god, I tried), at least outline and make crappy paragraphs full of notes.
i am doing my own personal reserch on dog behaviours and breed traits. as well as training a service dog or therapy bog. i was concerned on how much of the information on the internet can be fake or reliable. i just wanted to know how to spot unreliable sources and my reserch led me hear. i must be doing something right. right?
It's fine base my academic research on other academy research? In Google schoolars i only find academic research since i can't afford buying a book or analysis
Problem I have is when I input what I need such as analysis of threats for e-commerce nothing relevant to cyber security comes up lol. Like nothing, mostly business related stuff that don't talk about any threats at all. Mostly websites do and they aren't good enough I need journals, completely messed up my diss proposal and I'm dreading starting the dissertation in January
i was good at the writing part but my facts and reserch was always inacurate and not at all related to my topic. even though i was not accurate i still had my class attention by fabricating my own hystory using some facts and dates i got off the internet it was funny because i could have mislead a uneducated person but my class was good at noticing i was a fictional master using distorted history.

Hello
I'm WAY OFF the target audience for your video, as a middle schooler who is in (almost) all aspects clueless about his future. I write for fun, and love getting into research.
