To think I remember you on Newsradio 590 / WEEI I liked the pacing and the two-anchor format on the old WEEI. The late Dave Wright while it didn't work in Boston is idolized by a friend, Steve Murphy, who worked with him.. and succeeded him in Halifax.. and who is still in that anchor chair at 6pm in Halifax. He marked 25 years at the 6pm news a few years ago, I believe.
@@robertwelchny Nice! Thanks Robert. I was a writer at WEEI for the likes of Bob McMahon, Robert Ames, and Rod Fritz...I'm still in touch with them. I definitely looked up to them! I was able to file reports with CBS News and occasionally on Newstradio 59
Jonathan Hall While I’m almost certain there won’t be a Scott Fybush backyard BBQ out in Rochester this July, I always enjoyed hearing Bob McMahon’s stories over BBQ. I know him. He’s a good guy.
*SPOILER ALERT:* Sunbeam Television will merge with Fox Corporation to form Fox-Sunbeam Corporation (of course FoxCorp will be the survivng entity). And with that, Fox will move its affiliation from 'Boston 25' WFXT to WHDH Channel 7.
Seems like about 5 Mins of this focused between 2001-2005. I don't think much changed during this time lol. 10 years later and it's still a lot of the same, or nostalgia.
Wow, I don't have any recollection of Paula Zahn as a local Boston anchor. I guess her tenure here must not have been very long. Looking back, these intros (particularly the earlier ones( seems almost amateurish compared to WCVB's.
@Thuân Vũ whdh 7 was dumont, after dumont left, they went independent, branded as lucky vision, till late 95, when both wb & upn came. whdh was mainly the wb, which they share series with wsbk & wlvi. some cases either whdh & wlvi carried fox's millennium, whdh did carry fox's garry's show. long story. now as my cw on lucky 7.
GamerCraft Server Network also remember that in 1988 NBC bought WTVJ effectively stripped WHDH’s sister station WSVN affiliation over their previous disagreements in their daytime preemptions
WHDH and WGN should join Fox instead but it didn’t happen, bottom line independents won’t survive. The networks should buy more stations because of Sinclair
Darren Rosario Exactly, Fox was in the works of buying its Nashville, Salt Lake City and Buffalo affiliates, but instead all they got was an affiliation renewal.
How stupid is Sunbeam not treating NBC well in both Boston and Miami, in the ever changing media landscape WSVN and WHDH/WLVI should sell it to Fox and WFXT should be bought by NBC instead of a low powered powered station and a subchannel of a Telemundo station, besides WSVN pioneered the massive newscast extensions that lead to Fox signing deals with New World Communications and SF Broadcasting
I'm in there at 10:30 - thanks for the post.
That’s why everyone is on this video lol

Remember watching WHDH as a kid in the 90s. To this day it's still my favorite station.
There's a new day dawning, a new Seven's just begun!
7:30 why are the people talking in the background?
"Channel 7, the one to watch" is my favorite jingle.
*SPOILER ALERT:*

“That was a lie.” - Maury Povich
WHDH, the independent station in Boston, MA, is owned by Sunbeam Television. WHDH is the sister station to CW affiliate WLVI in Boston.
NBC ripping affiliation from WHDH was unwise as hell.
Diana Williams would later be partnered w/ Sade Baderinwa on ABC's flagship station's "Eyewitness News" 5:00 telecast.

John Marler and Cathy Marshall both did KATU News in Portland Oregon
These later-day Sunbeam graphics seem like the hyperactive cousin of the Fox stations' graphics.
I used to have Craig Stevens' classes man. He's been back and forth between Sunbeam stations
NBC Boston is now WBTS 10.

Do you think the short version of the early 2000's open was from 2005?
Kate Sullivan!!! Loved her!! 😍
1:19 O'Rielly. AAHHH!! 80's HAIR!! :o
***** That was a dark moment in history that we try to forget.
I mean O'Reilly, not 80s hair.
According to the Southernmedia NMSA, WHDH, when it was WNAC used MCTYW from '70, to '71.

WHDH-DT now independent and WBTS-LP and WNEU-DT 2 now NBC O&O STATION CH 8 60 and cable 10
Goodbye NBC and Hello Independent.
Rest in Peace, WHDH.
R.I.P. Dave Wright.
I don't like it when WHDH has disaffiliated NBC.
I want WHDH to re-affiliate NBC and let WBTSLP to be the NECN affiliate.
GamerCraft Server Network also remember that in 1988 NBC bought WTVJ effectively stripped WHDH’s sister station WSVN affiliation over their previous disagreements in their daytime preemptions
NECN is a Network for Cable ONLY.
