I'm 88 years old. I've been a wood worker hobbyist since I was a teenager, This is one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen in many years. Your craftsmanship and artistry are exceptional. Thanks for the pleasure,
Amazing job! I've seen plenty of buckets and barrels with metal rings, but never ever in my life saw a bucket with wooden rings. I really loved the way you made those wooden rings and the whole bucket. It's a real piece of art. Congratulations!
Thank you Andi. Great video. Really enjoyed watching it. I am a master craftsman who teaches fine woodworking in Australia. Looking forward to your next video.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. A real work of art and the craftsmanship is awe inspiring. Well done and thanks for sharing, I loved every second. Cheers from the UK 🍺
When you smelled the wood curls, I too was (in an ADHD daydream) smelling that same wood.. It made me feel like I was right there with you! pretty cool!
Steam bending the riven wood straight so you could power plane while maintaining grain alignment was super clever! I don’t know if that’s a traditional way of handling riven wood, but I’ve never seen a technique quite like that before. Well done!!
He starts riving the wood at 11:04. At 11:40 he states (in captions) that he’s following the grain on the bandsaw. Steams at 12:01 and then states that he’s bending them straight at 12:16. Then power planes (thicknesser) at 12:40.
I clicked this video wondering about how you kept the bucket together, I was honestly expecting some bushcraft style rope that was made from “wood” but when I saw the (for lack of better words) “clasps” I was amazed, that’s such a great way to do that I love it
Great video! My dad and I demonstrated making wooden buckets (with riven wood rings) at the Ohio Sate fair for about 15 and 10 years respectively with few deviations from what you presented. The few deviations were: (1). No power tools (other than the chain saw to cut the logs. (2). White oak rings, made from a green log without steam or heat. (3). No pegs And, yes there is a lot of wood waste to pick up.

Watching this process has been enlightening. Thank you for showing this. Especially some of the self-made tools you use. I had never considered the things that could be made simply to hold things steady while working.
That is a lovely piece of work. And properly cared for that bucket will last lifetimes. I'm impressed how well it held water immediately. That's great attention to detail.
Those rings are amazing. I would never have thought that this is how such rings are constructed. This method of building a tension ring out of wood is highly unexpected and creative.

Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 I've just found your channel and I'm so pleased there's no narration, only the sound of a craftsman working with wood and his tools, thank you for that. I enjoy watching Epic Upcycling and the craftsman works the same as you(, occasionally music in the background not overpowering), there is no narration just the relaxing sounds of a craftsman, and therapeutic benefits.
I appreciated your intense moment of communion with the resin of the wood chips. Satisfaction could be read on your face and on the breath of your happiness. Here's a pat, dude.

Very nice work, especially with the effective homemade tools. I’d suggest sand to register the staves against each other but with all the fitting and reassembly, the sand would fall out. The OldTools fellers would be proud 👍
