- It’s finally here! Just over eight years since the release of Gran Turismo 6, the seventh mainline entry in Polyphony Digital’s racing sim has arrived - but the question is: how good is it?
We take a deep dive into the new-for-GT7 Café menus - no more Gran Turismo mode, this is an all-new way to approach your car collecting adventures.
GT traditionalists need not fear however, as GT7 marks a return for the Used Car Dealerships and classic tracks like Deep Forest Raceway and Trial Mountain.
But the most important question is, how does it feel to drive? We examine the physics in detail and tell you whether or not GT7 represents a step forward for the series after Gran Turismo Sport’s divisive 2017 release.

I've only played 20 minutes and im already fully invested i just love the fact that you start out in a little hatchback my first car was of course the Prius C/Aqua I have never been happier to sling a Pruis around 90 degree turns and flying at 90 MPH it brings me great joy and the power of the PS5 just tops it off... I adore this game already
My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to see more of the old classic tracks - Midfield Raceway, Seattle, etc
Probably be added with dlc or free updates like they did in GT sport. They added alot of free updates with new cars and tracks overtime on GT sport
Review says FFB is much improved, be interested in John's opinion vs the hardcore sims.
Check out Super GT's comprehensive review which goes deep into specific categories. The physics section of the video is worth watching.
Things like curb modeling, grip in the rain etc..also you can't just go hard into a corner, slam the brakes and slam the throttle on the exit anymore..sh!ts gone a bit tough now. It's a lot more punishing. Another thing you need to watch out for bumps otherwise you can spin out.
The car chassis rumble on the curbs and off road is massively improved while generally there's more cockpit movement.
Tyres also actually make a difference
I think its actually up there with the sims.
Cool, I like games that handle and feel like real cars, and crashes have consequences, and other things. It forces you to drive with in your limits and keep getting better. Real race cars don't bounce off walls. :)

Nice review. Bought a PS5 just to play this game. Haven’t owned a PS since the first one.
While it is a technical feat that they got the game running smoothly on all PS4 consoles: it’s actually truly disappointing…because the fact that all versions look similar or even “close”, basically proves that GT7 is clearly not the next gen title it was meant to be. GT7 is a title that was supposed to push boundaries for the racing genre and be a “next gen” system seller for Sony. Yes, there may be a shortage of PS5’s at this very moment but system production / supply will eventually ramp up later and people will more or less upgrade anyways.
Sure, PS4 owners are very happy but maybe try to look at it from the point of view from those who invested their hard earned money on a “next gen” console: only to find that the same game can run on dated hardware - nine years ago? This game is not a generation leap like: Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec for the PlayStation 2 back in the day.
Polyphony could have went all out to produce a way better game for the PS5 version but they literally had to dial everything back, spending their valuable time, energy and resources to ensure it ran on last gen consoles.
Think videos on how to pass licences will help people, this could be the first GT game of this level for a lot of people, and them licences are unforgiving.

A lot is a understatement , i got it early…lets just say im un able to buy tires yet … its going to demoralize alot of people the grind is like real life hours. You can tell that gt7 is going to be a 10 year game. A used nsx 92 is almost half a milly ..used. Hope that gives u a understanding of the grind

How does this compare to other sims such as ACC or iRacing? Love the idea of console racing as it’s simple to run, but hesitant to buy unless the handling is on point and the tyres don’t make the obnoxious squealing noise like old titles
It has the same tire sounds as GT sport which are fine. Go play something else, nerd

I would like to find out if anybody that got the 25th anniversary of gran turismo 7got the 1.5 million credits because I didn't all I got was 100.000
Seems so awesome but just don’t have the time commitment for this.
Odd review? No mention of how good the AI is. No mention of new camera views? No mention of better sound? No mention of FFB? Or FOV options? No mention of dammage? No mention of PSVR? You know things that matter most rather than talking about cafe menus.

Just ordered a Drivehub so I could use my wheel on my PS5 just for this game.
you will have to buy a wired controller as well or else your wheel will turn off every 10 minutes

What about the LOADING TIMES!!!!!! cmon why is no one comparing load times on ps4 vs 5????
Loading times on PS5 feel almost instant, its a bit slower on a PS4 Pro but not excessive or annoyingly slow.
@@TraxionGG That’s good, I remember older gt games the loading would take like 20 seconds just to get from 1 menu to the next, it was super annoying

Honestly man as a life long gt player and PlayStation user I would say that might NOT be worth it to buy a ps5 just for this game. Maybe if you’re into other exclusives like Spider-Man, horizon and god of war and stuff like that.

Peoples opinion are the reason why the world has evolved… im a super gt fan since i was a young kid ..i have no reason to hate on gt7 i have it.. everyone giving it a 9 or 9.5 10 thats called a pattern.. maybe sony greased pockets because its good but people will be very upset about the grind..it will open eyes ..the game was built for people to buy credits with real money lol the games good but why is everyone saying 9/10 … not anyone giving it lower.. odd

I will be picking this up. There’s some things I’m hearing about it that I like and there’s some things that I’m not all that crazy about but I’ll definitely be picking it up and giving it a try.
I got it early. I love gt alot but i think some of these guy are rating a bit to high. I give 8/10 at best. Alot of people are going to get annoyed of the high prices of everything. How u have to level up to unlock shit like tuning or to buy tires.. i know most people dont want the extra credits but it going to be a hell of a grind
Its what I loved about Gran Turismo 3, start of small and really work your way up. Although I love Forza, I find it hard to play when you are given a lambo because I played the previous game or 200,000 credits... just makes it easy
I got 3 free cars and 100k credits as a code in my GT7 case, which I can't use the cars yet in races cuz they're too powerful and the 100k was spent fast and hard on tuning LOL.
You need to improve your reviews mate, point out all the positives, negatives and not enough critique. Vidoe came across like an infomercial.
Let's be real. This and every GT7 video today is no review, it's a promotional video, as you've pointed out. Not a single mention of the atrocious AI, you know, the most important part of a single player racing game.

Good review I been playing since GT1 1997 and own all of them and still go back to the older ones which play on my fat PS3. Really hyped for GT7, it’s been apart of my life for awhile now from a kid to now and love cars naturally but Gran Turismo fulled that (before forza too). Also early days so I’m sure GT7 will get more content and tweaks too. Shame about the grind with credits but still should be a great racer. 18 hours to go and counting. I also enjoyed GT Sport too there is always something special about Gran Turismo. The nostalgia is real and so is the hype. See you on track and thank you

How often do you win the cafe cars? And does it somewhat spoil the sense of earning?
You win the cafe cars at a regular clip, provided you meet the challenge criteria. You only win 'regular' cars though, anything special or rare is saved for the long grind, so acquiring cars still feels special.
@@TraxionGG can you somehow skirt the challenge criteria and just keep the shitbox you’ve got as long as possible? I remember back in the day spending long periods with your car was a great thing cus you got to know it. All its little ins and outs etc, as well as tuning it to the max before moving up to the next tier of car. if you’re getting a new car every 2 seconds you might be tempted not to stick with the one you’ve got. Also you can sell the bonus cars and get free money essentially, which hampers that feeling of earning. So yeh, can you skirt the challenges?
As someone who follows the World Tour scene I found it cool to see some of the drivers there make appearances in GT Mode as well as AI opponents

No chance lol. Get real. This game is made to sell millions and for kids and casuals to be able play. Doesnt simulate each cars steering rotation, PSI, chassis flex etc. Its made for controllers.

This might be minor for some but for others that online is the mode we spend most time in it's not available from the get go you need to grind a few hours before unlocking it. For a deep dive into gt7 super GT has a 30min video going into detail of pretty much everything.
I still haven’t heard any factual statements about engine swaps ?
@@kriskater nothing from anyone so it's either on embargo still or there's nothing on it yet. If it's in the game I think it might be only a few cars or certain modes. I don't see engine swaps in multiplayer.

I am already playing it even when it released, so far I really like the game it is realistic as it can be. With rain to oil changes in the GT Auto all the way to a café it has it all. I even unlocked 2 GR Supras, one is a civilian looking car that I'll turn into a tuner, and the other is a Gr.4 car I'm going to use for a league I'm in. Best game I ever played 10/10.
Hold on INVATATIONS
I still don't know of any game other than Assetto Corsa that allows you to hand pick your AI opponents' cars. This gives players a chance to experience their own custom races and dream races. Having grown up watching Japan's 'Best Motoring' series, I'm a huge advocate for picking which cars you want to race with. To my knowledge this is a feature that fans of GT have been asking for for a very long time. GT7 seems like the perfect game for this. I really hope Kaz and PD add this feature!

Yeah, I don't know. Car cafe and musical rally doesn't sound like my sort of thing. Only really interested in online racing and looks like not much has changed. And it was desperate for significant change. Fork out for the same game I already stopped playing? ACC on the PS5 is looking good....

@@Dcully Well GOW is a ps4, 4 years old game that is free on ps5 with psplus and cost less than 20$ on plystation while pc pays it 60$+.
Dont forget the new GOW comes to playstation this year likely during summer.
You cant compare that with sony putting GT7, a new ps5 game on pc. Just like they put the first Horizon Zero dawn on pc for 60$ but They gave that to ps5 user for free. and now we have the new and better Horizon forbidden west on ps5 but its not on pc. See not because Sony ports Old games on pc that theyll do the same with their new title

I don't know man... something about this game looks off.. I mean I'll buy it, but... The saturation and lighting is sooo weird.. And cars are overpolished, and tracks are too clean. Also I feel like they added bunch of stuff which forza and other games had for years and now they are talking about how revolutionary it is, when in fact is very elementary.. like changing weather during race and stuff... It bugs me that it looks like a video game.. hopefully it will be fun playing with friends online

Interesting to see the initial flat-screen review. But flat-screen racing (yesterday's tech) is just a tiny fraction of the game.. over 90% of it is missing. Looking forward to the full game/sim review in VR with the new headset.
No, I had a psvr and had the newest oculus quest for a while and when you first start playing in VR it's mind blowing, but the novelty quickly fades away after a few weeks and then you realize you prefer playing games on a TV. Games are actually more fun on tv.
I don't want a vr system strapped to my head I much prefer a television, just because VR is newer doesn't make it better.
And I don't care about the upcoming psvr2 I'd rather just play on my TCL r655.
I sold both my VR headsets after just a few months of having them.
@@ibelieveitcauseiseentit9630 I use VR for years. Assetto Corsa and AMS2. I could never go back to flat-screen, no immersion, no sense of scale or distance, can't see the apex etc. You just have to rely on muscle memory for breaking points. It's like driving a car from the pits behind a monitor, totally unrealistic. VR is far superior.
@@ibelieveitcauseiseentit9630 that's complete and absolute nonsense. Especially when it comes to racing games, VR is objectively superior. Not only more immersive but it literally makes you a better driver. If you don't want to play other games in VR, that's fine but you don't have a clue what you're talking about when it comes to racing games. Flat screen racing is trash in comparison and that's not even an opinion. If you have a wheel, flat screen only has downsides. VR is damn near perfection for racing.
@@pumpkineater23 You're 100% right but I haven't had a full racing game playable in VR other than Dirt Rally and Driveclub VR. I'm dying for GT7 to have full VR support since I put 1500 hours into GT Sport, but very little into the VR mode since it was only a time trial mode (was incredible though)
@@HugoStiglitz88 yeah, the PSVR2 has great specs - high res, great lenses and the eye tracking/foveated rendering is really interesting. It will be a huge step up from the previous headset. I'm looking forward to trying it with GT7 too.
I pre ordered the 25th anniversary addition. It costs more, but I believe we start out with some free cars and 1.5 million currency. I can't wait to play this.
