You’re absolutely correct… it may sound cliche but “follow your bliss” truly applies. In the US we’ve been programmed that in order to be happy you must be successful which is complete bullsh*t.
I can't wait to get to the South of France. I'm an ex manhattanite as well. I want walkable, I want outside life, I want decent healthcare, I want good transit. I love Europe and want to travel in in more. I already speak a fair amount of French, and am retired so I have my income sorted. I loathe this USian car baased non walking nonsense and want to live somewhere slower and civilised. I look forward to seeing more from you on topics like this.
I’m leaning toward visiting Nice with the goal of retirement. I’m 64 and looking for more simple, affordable life. I want to be car free, walk to market to get fresh food, explore places and people.
I love your journey, Dawn. You’re a true inspiration for those of us mid-career (middle aged) who have decided to make a 180 degree change. Thanks and keep’em coming!
@@DelightsbyDawn Definitely! BTW - glad that you're enjoying Nice. My partner and I are relocating to Paris from Seattle the first week of April. We LOVE Nice and vacation there every summer, but decided that we needed to be in Paris for business reasons. Nice and all the Cote d'Azure are a jewel!
See now that is what a person who is mentally mature and wise behaves like. Ma'am, it was nice to get to know you and your perspective. I am glad it showed up in my recommendations. 😊
Bonjour Dawn, you are so brave moving alone to France but enjoying relaxation, activities, expats, doing what you love & cant believe you went from lawyer to baker in France. Its great to know you & please do share more of Nice & your experiences. I love that you took french bakery class in France & you work as baker 2 days a week.
Bonjour Dawn! So excited to discover you and your channel. I fell in love with Nice during my first visit to France for my 50th birthday! Looking forward to retiring in Nice. Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s very helpful for my planning process.❤
I’m so loving your glasses. You look stunning. After my retirement in a few years. I was thinking about moving to move to Monaco. Now, after watching your stunning videos. I’m definitely leaning towards Nice. Thanks so much for sharing dear!❤❤
You can't just move to Monaco there are money requirements and asset requirements which is why pretty much millionaires live there or somebody knows somebody that already lives there.
My definition of happy Is the the same things that make you happy my sister. Painting, baking and just being creative on a slow living type level. I don’t care about having a fancy car and house or either material things. I’m a woman of color over 50 and I’m on disability and don’t know what to do about anything bcuz in order to make it I have to work some type of way. I’m not making it like this. France has always been in my blood and have always wanted to know more. My mom got a tiny amount in her dna and her grandparents parents was from France and mixed in in Louisiana. Creole makes up a lot of things but aside from all that I just said lol is I’ve been wanting to live there for years. Is it true your SSDI benefits would stop if I had to move there? Thank sis so much in advance . Have a blessed weekend darling
Awe, you can do it. Look at it as a light at the end of the tunnel that you are on a journey to get to. That is not true. There are some retirees here. I will try to do a video on that for people in that same status so they could know. But you're not renounouncing your citizenship. So no, that should not stop.
@@DelightsbyDawn ok thank you so much for this my sweet sister. You are amazing. I am totally inspired by you right now doing what you did/doing. I want to be truly happy. I know my joy comes from the lord but while I’m here I don’t want to waste time wondering if I should’ve took that step. I look forward to seeing more videos . Have a blessed weekend my beautiful sister 🙏🏽♥️
Your channel has been so insightful! I'm in the middle of the visa process. I have hospitality and tech degree/experience and finding a job to allow me to work there has been so difficult. I'm determined!! My question for you is how to file taxes?
So glad I found your account!! For a year long student visa is an 8-week course of 20 hours/week enough or do you have to take 20 hours/week for the entire year?
I don't think I can apply that soon. I plan on changing it to micro entrepreneur and I won't have to renew every year. If I can apply for residency after the student is up I certainly will. Things change here so much

Thank you for following. I too fell in love with France when I visited for my 50th birthday 4 years ago.
What is your definition of happiness? That is a good question to ask yourself and other people.
Alot of people REALLY don't know. You have to look into yourself and not base it on how others describe happiness. That's THEIR definition!
Honestly I’m so glad to come across your channel

Thats a whole conversation! lol
So glad I found your account!! For a year long student visa is an 8-week course of 20 hours/week enough or do you have to take 20 hours/week for the entire year?
You would have to show that you are enrolling for the entire year.
Love your channel. Which Pastry school? What is a recommended pastry school.
I have an entire video on my channel about my school.
After your student visa is up will you apply for residency in France?
