@@benhikescamps Another recommendation is Grandma Gatewood's Walk. It's about a 65 year old woman who walked and wild camped the entire Appalachian trail with almost no gear...a few times! A must read for all wild campers, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.
I read this recently whilst in prison, dreaming of hiking the Gower Coast. 'Tis is a marvellously-evocative and well-written book, as you said in your accurate review. The follow-up is good, too.
I have read the book in Italian, now I am translating The Wild Silence. I think your comment is very correct. As for my experience, I love The Salt Path very much. Mrs Winn offers her whole story (hers, and her husband's as well) and in several points of their walking I did suffer so much that I barely was able to go on with them. Thanks to The Wild Silence, anyhow, we understand that both the author and her husband Moth were used to such extreme experiences. I am going to introduce The Salt Path in a library of my town (Florence) next Autumn. I hope I shall be able to pay homage to this masterwork.
@@benhikescamps You have been very kind to reply me. As far as my comprehension of English allows me, I consider The Salt Path more involving than the Wild Silence, maybe 'cause the first of the two has been sensational. In her second work, Mrs. Winn holds her high level of writing, but it is more a prequel/sequel rather than a true, outstanding innovation. I wish you a good working-on
Hi, I have ordered this book and it will be an awesome read. Also I want to know that currently where are u sitting while making this video! THANKS A LOT FOR THE REVIEW
Agreed - loved this book. It's amazing how they got through the trail with the gear they had, lack of funds and lack of experience. The 2nd book is not as good but they never are, are they? Great video.
Some of these adventuring stories are just such great inspiration...this is a new one for me...will need to check it out for sure...thanks for sharing!
I've been meaning to read this book ever since it came out....I really must get round to it sometime! Nice review Ben. It sounds right up my street. All the best pal, Chris
Wow, brilliant review!!! Me and my partner have a canal boat holiday booked for May... (let's hope it goes ahead) and this will be a wonderful edition too my belongings I take!!! Thank you dude, ATB Walking with Paul 👍🍃🥾
Mate sounds like a good book I like a good read one of my favourite books is the hungry cyclist. One u may or may not have read but it’s fantastic I’m sure u would enjoy it I’ll keep an eye out for the salt path for sure sound like it’s up my street for a read
Read while I lost my bathroom floor (due to an internal leak and no insurance). This book put everything into perspective. In one moment, anyones life can change.
If you like this book, you'll probably like 'Afloat by Danie Couchman'. A young voice over artist decides to live on a boat in London. The Salt Path is very good.
@@benhikescamps 🥰👍🏻 yea I’m very well thank you. I’m desperate for a bit of normality back in my life now lol but I guess we’re all in the same boat 🙏🏻👍🏻
Read it, sorry not as good as everyone makes out. Try reading an old classic, 500 mile walkies, about a man and borrowed dog, doing same walk dog was called Boogie.
It's well written and a page turner, but I wouldn't call it inspiring or feel good. It is rather political and far fetched. It's what you expect from a Penguin book.
Bloody brilliant book! :) i live on the path, wanna do the whole thing after reading it
Go for it!
Defiantly worth reading. I loved it.
Her second book is also good.
Thanks David.
And her third.
The Wild Silence is equally inspiring, heartwarming and beautiful. It too is a must read. My heart goes out to them.
Thanks for the recommendation 👍

Thanks Badger. It’s a great and inspiring read. I agree on the follow-up too. Thanks for watching. 👍
Agreed! Brilliant and moving..... I've started her third book 'Landlines' which IMHO is as good, if not better than 'The Salt Path' Lovely review Ben👏
I might have to check out that new book. Thanks Marty!

It's not amazing, it would just be impossible. So it never happened. Pack of lies.
Nice one! I’ve not heard about this so I’ll try and get a copy!
Go for it Mr W.
Interesting change of pace...the book sounds entertaining too as I am an avid reader I'll have to look it up!
