18/04/2015 Periscope Pop Gun to a Shootout

This Saturday Rub features Jim, Garry, Spud and Damo with some of their best work directed towards Craig Hutchison of SEN for trying to claim the world-first premiere of Periscope, the new app that streams live video to Twitter followers. We all know Triple M is at the forefront of latest technology, as was evidenced by Periscope last Friday. And when you're an industry leader, people will follow. And apparently SEN started using Periscope the following day and then claimed to be the first to do it. And Hutchy is the type to claim everything as his. Garry overheard this and then revealed to him Triple M did it the day before. Hutchy then blew up and stormed out (with his three chickens from Nando's). Spud then joins in by saying that SEN might be able to deal with flotsam and jetsam like K-Rock and Joy FM, but trying to compete with Triple M is like bringing a pop gun to a shootout. Hutchy then had a go at Triple M producer Luke "Big Nose" Tunnecliffe for beating him to the punch on the app. Then it's just an all-in for bagging Hutchy and SEN. Garry does concede that they've paved the way for a new kind of broadcasting on the regional airwaves - by playing 95 minutes of ads in a two hour game. Spud reckons after every goal, they have a 70 second read-out of ads, which means you miss the next two goals. He delivers that line brilliantly. Jim jumps in now and compares Triple M with the Sundance Kid walking into a bar, where all the other bystanders like SEN just have to lay their shooters down and concede defeat before the fight even begins. SEN looks like Sonny Corleone in The Godfather when he gets ambushed. And the other radio stations should realise by now that Triple M is king.
