there's probably a few people out there who would call this their favorite RUclips video of all time, and I would like to be best friends with every one of them
will you be my friend?
I'm one of 'em, dogg. This version of "Draw Us Lines" might be my favourite thing of all time. I have a ticket to see Bry play to a room full of 30 people next month and I'm too old to admit that I'm counting down the goddamn days, but I truly am.
So, that Bry show was fucking incredible, and he was really friendly and indulged me as I heaped praise on him for 10 mins before he took the stage. I asked him if the band recorded anything else in 2018 when they recorded "Call Me Out," and diehard fans might want to know that they recorded "five or six songs" with the intent of releasing an EP. The band wasn't entirely happy with the results, though, so they shelved it and released the one track they were happy with ("Call Me Out") in 2020. I asked him if there was any chance in hell that we might one day hear the other songs, and he basically said "Maybe." He also played back to back requests that I made, "Asa" and "Young Lions." He's a super awesome guy.
@@user-ro9lu7uo1j dope! cool of you to follow up, glad you enjoyed the show
Please, give your sound guy a raise. This sounds fantastic.
This entire Live At Massey Hall series is wonderful, but I'm beyond thrilled that someone documented this band THIS well. This is mind-blowingly good.
Me too.
Yeah, this is a treasure.
Yep. Most underrated Canadian band of all time imo
I so miss the Constantines. A proper band.
Saw these dudes open for The Weakerthans in Dallas at the Gypsy Tea Room in September 2003. Probably only about 100-125 people there. One of the most amazing concert experiences of my life. I'd never heard of Constantines, but I left that show a fan. The Shine a Light record is still an amazing document of how good they were/are live.
I was living in London (Canada) and randomly caught these guys before they moved to Toronto.. same. Had not heard of them, but left a fan!
This is so good. Heard this and immediately went out and bought all 4 of their albums.
That's what's up!! I miss this band so much. They were the first independent band i found on my own back in college so they have a special place in my heart. FYI they just released a new single:

So perfectly captures the brilliant balance of raw intensity and refined creativity that was their music. Their live shows had a passion and power that thrust you into a shocked state of amazement while simultaneously producing a pure roaring inferno of exaltation in your heart and body. Saw them many times, from their basement in Guelph all the way to Canada house at the Vancouver olympics, and everytime was just as good, just as sincere, and just as stunning. Unbelievably great band that deserves more recognition outside of Canada.
I was lucky enough to see these guys in Phoenix Arizona basically by myself. There were maybe 20 people there. Un f'n believable they were. One of the best shows I've ever seen. I really hope they put more music.
Nighttime/Anytime...As good as rock'n'roll can ever get
I'm so happy there is finally a good live recording of National Hum. I don't think there is any lyric that quite captures the angst of a generation like "Your mayor's raising fences to keep bodies off the Don Valley Parkway / Send your praises to the mechanics of the state"
I had great seats up front for this show. I'd seen them before, but this band brings it every single night.
There is a world where you have impressive live clips, and then there is this.... I'm talking Fugazi, Instrument level good here.
I've seen over 100 shows at Massey Hall. This was easily THE BEST!
seriously powerful live band
Wow! I had no idea this existed til now. Hats off to anyone who had anything to do with this. It sounds and looks fantastic. What an incredible recording/beautiful mix.
Awesome music! Timestamps for people that are looking to listen to specific songs. though they are all great
2:23 Draw us Lines
6:20 Our Age
10:06 On to You
14:27 Young Offenders
18:20 Nighttime Anytime (it's alright)
23:30 Young Lions
27:24 National Hum
I'd love to see a one-off Attack In Black reunion from this series!
Doug and Bryan were in the grade above me in High School...Doug has always been an incredible drummer.
That's fuckin' interesting. Can you tell us something about that? Both? Same high school?
I wasn't expecting that.
wow this is great! drummer is really good
Legends!!!
so so good. had a chance to do a short tour (in a supporting band) with them in 2002. some of the best shows I've experienced. awesome that this video exists!
holy sh..'*t, I had no idea!!! only knew the song "our age" by accident, now I'm surfing and find this!!! amazingly good!!!
Saw them at Slim’s years ago when I lived outside of San Francisco. Man I miss this band.
Not nearly enough people know they're still a band, technically. No current plans to do anything, sadly, but they played their most recent show only three-ish years ago. If you're not here in Ontario, and if you don't follow them really closely, you probably won't hear about those shows early enough to actually make it to one, but we're relatively spoiled by a mostly inactive genius-level rock band.
a mi lista de bandas favoritas a partir de hoy!!!! no puedo escuchar esta banda sin pensar en ""joe strummer and de mesacaleros""..... saludos desde argentina!
I was 4th row for this one. Such a great night.
Loved that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
top notch. love these guys.
SICK

imo, Being shown in Black and White adds a great feel to their performance.
Herd these guys on CBS radio night stream instant y searched kick ass rock yea😂😂😂
💙
Please, literally, for God's sake, never take this offline.
have these guys ever played the UK? I'd love to see them.
They did. Saw em on the Shine a Light tour at Metro(Oxford St, London) and a couple of other times after(Bush Hall, Shepherds Bush was amazing too.). Would happily pay a fair few quid to fly Canada to see em if they ever did a reunion now...
Check out the Dears if you like the Constantines.. another great Canadian Indie band..
at least the sound is good.
