My maaan! I just found your channel and I am so excited for the content! (Hard struggling reefer here). Would love a video where you explain your way dealing with: Nitrates Phosphates Light schedule and percentage Flow etc etc!
Thanks for this! I’m currently building my system, very similar to yours and I also bought the QD Dose for my kalk and calcium reactor, and to hear this is heartbreaking! So the lesson is buy the versa instead of the QD Dose!
@@InfiniteReef yeah myself as well! Even though I bought it 6 months ago I don’t think I can return it (still unused while I get the rest of the equipment). I’m a little pissed it’s marketed as continuous when it’s not.
Glad you saved it! I had an Apex go out from the damn SD card had to ship it out then learned how to fix it myself... Now I have 2 per tank so if one goes out I can hook up the other and it's programmed ready to go. I've learned my lesson with Neptune but nothing works better. Have fun with traveling and great idea on wrapping the Co2 tank.
You plug your lights into the Apex? I don’t know many people that do - that’s a way to save some outlets. Also the Apex Base unit is available for sale almost everywhere, my local LFS, SaltwaterAquarium, BRS, and most places that sell apex units
I assume most people would plug their lights into their apex. Most of my walls that can fit a 7 ft tank only have one outlet and that's probably just building code.
And the base unit is definitely not available anywhere. BRS and saltwater aquarium.com do not have it. You have to buy the kit that includes probes and an 832. LFS in our area don't like to keep stock, they like to order in
@ Ahhh - I have my tank running on a single 20amp outlet that was made for my AC Unit. I plug a heavy duty industrial surge protector into the outlet and that’s where I plug my lights and EB8 32. I don’t ever need to turn my lights on or off with my apex/hydros so it’s not taking up a valuable spot.
@ You know what, you are correct, I just checked and it said discontinued. Apologies there. I bought one last year from BRS. I guess my LFS just has old stock.
I don’t think the calcium reactor would explode, when the ph gets too low it would turn off and there is an opening where the co2 would escape. I didn’t realize that about the DOS QD but as long as it’s dosing the same amount over 24 hours it’s the same. It’s like dosing 2 part all vs dosing 4 times a day.
If Apex was an Asian company you’d probably be able to buy anything separately to keep the system running… just stating the obvious. Just seems greedy to force people to buy unnecessary gear.

For the price also it was a very big disappointment

Yup! I've thought about buying another base unit as well to have just in case!

I soooooo wish I had a dedicated 20amp but all the quotes I've gotten are like $3k lol
Make the swap over to GHL and you won’t be disappointed!
It's just hard to switch ecosystems completely once it's already setup. You've already made the financial commitment lol
@@InfiniteReefvery understandable!

Yeah haha. It wouldn't explode but why risk it. Calcium reactors are proven tech and if everyone uses a continuous pump then I want to as well.
