I went to lexus dealership here in NY and they're charging $250 for each side. Thanks for the video. My car has now 90k miles on it should i change the transmission oil???
Hi there, I'm looking to reseal the rear differential on my IS350 but I was wondering if it'd be possible to remove the bolted on metal cover without dropping the whole diff assembly down. Do you think it's possible? Thanks.
I believe it should come just right off. Be sure to get the torque specs for the bolts and make sure you check over the next week to make sure it isn’t leaking any bit of fluid!
We have the same exact cars. ‘13 GS AWD and ‘15 GX both white also. I’ve replaced the front and rear diff fluid in the cars, but never the transfer case that some mention. Is the transfer case fluid the same as diff fluid, just called a different name?
We love ours. The transfer case fluid for the GX is specific, not same as diffs. My GS is rear wheel drive so no transfer case on mine, unfortunately don't have info on GS Tcase fluid
My Lexus is 2014 gs 350 rear wheel drive. I only have rear differential fluid right? I seen another video and they did front and rear differential fluid
No BS, Straight to the point. Thank You
DUDE I WISH ALL DIY VIDEOS FOR MY LEXUS WERE THIS GOOD . Thanks
Subbed
Thanks for following.
I have front and rear brake videos that I will be editing soon as well
@@PlatoonGarageawesome . I actually need to do my pads soon so that’d be a great help
Finally someone that simplifies the how to instructions 🙏

Thanks for including the part numbers!
Welcome 🙂
I used Castrol 80W90 and same oil pump.
P.S. You forgot to check went valve on the top of the differential.
Are those Rhino ramps safe? Perhaps add another floor jack as additional safety
Yes they are safe. They are rated for a lot more than what this car weighs
Performed today, went perfect, thanks for the walkthrough.
@platoon garage, hi there my friend have you ever experience growling or howling rear end of the differential after fluid change.
@@edensnicolas9593 no I haven't
@@PlatoonGarage thank you.
This was just too helpful
Awesome guide. Thanks man
Good Video thank you.
thanks, i am going to do it on my LS460
Does it run to drive the car on these ramps without problems.. Driving an IS 250 in Germany ? Regards from here
My car is too low to drive straight into the ramps unfortunately, so I use the low ramps first
Need to do mine. Excellent video

So the transfer case is part of the transmission , So when changing transmission oil the transfer case will use the same oil .
In your owners manual for awd it's a front diff, not transfer case. It says to use hypiod GL-5 which is gear oil 75-90
My Lexus is 2014 gs 350 rear wheel drive. I only have rear differential fluid right? I seen another video and they did front and rear differential fluid
Rwd does not have a front diff
Thanks for the video tip
Is that an aftermarket drain plug or oem with magnet
OEM
Manuel calls for 80w90 oil, do you have any issues using the 75w90
No issues, I'm about to change the fluid again using the same oil in a couple of weeks
Did u feel any difference diff fluid should be 75w85
@@conejo1562 zero difference
Same for 2015 lexus nx200t?????
How did you get the back on top of the ramps? That tip on top won't go under my car.
Jack the rear up under the diff. Then slide the ramps under
@@PlatoonGarage thank you. I didn't think about it.
@@mariorios3361or you could use ramps in front and jack stands in back, personally i would use stands even if i had ramps
How much money are you saving doing oil and differential at home?
Not completely sure, I didn't get quotes before doing the work. If I had to estimate maybe 2-300or so?
Local mechanic charges $85 for each differential. So $170 for front and rear.
How often or after how many miles we have to change the differential oil?
I do it every 30k miles
A good mechanic on RUclips says 30k miles. Lexus dealer told me 45k.
I have a 2008 Lexus GS 350. With 123,000 miles. Should I do it to my vehicle?
Fresh fluids are always a good bet
What millage you change the dif fluid?..
I change it every 30k
How often should the differential fluid be changed
I do every 30K
30 K
Wie viel Öl braucht es wenn man die Wanne aufmacht?🙏
on a rear wheel drive model, capacity is between 6.25 and 6.5 Litres
Sorry that comment was for engine oil. The diff you fill until it flows out of the fill bolt.
what torque wrench did you use?
I use this one - amzn.to/3P0KMte
Does the front and rear need to be done every 30k miles?
All diffs, transfer case and transmission fluids I change every 30K.
My car is a rwd model, so no front diff on mine
@@PlatoonGarage thank you for the reply. I believe my awd only needs front and rear. No crank case change needed.
Awd has only a rear diff. The front is built into the transmission
Its that a rwd model
Yep rwd
