I’m so glad y’all were able to understand how realistic Floch’s breakdown was. A lot of reactors give him absolute hell for it even though it was probably the most normal reaction anyone had in that situation.
Plus, he's not even saying he's too scared of dying to do anything. He's just despondent over the fact that he's about to die in a meaningless way that does nothing to help save humanity. He says he was open to dying, open to being the victim so others wouldn't have to be. He just wanted his death to at least be meaningful in the service of protecting mankind.
@@Kaldurahm1 This is why I love Floch as a character. I could easily see someone like this experiencing something incredibly traumatic and becoming radicalized. He watched Erwin's example and took a different lesson than the one most of us would have.
Don’t forget he’s also like 15. Literally a high school freshman being put in that situation. People give a lot of characters like early Trost arc Armin and Jean so much shit for being “a coward” when they’re actually children. Its that weird “survival show” mentality where people keep saying how characters should act for optimal survival, but often forget that humans aren’t robots and our brains literally short circuit in moments of immense trauma. Especially children. Even for a grown ass adults Floch’s reaction to the situation was on the calmer side of how most people would react in that position.
Especially many of those reactors are dumb. Soo the logical scenario is, if they're in that condition, obviously they will act like Floch. They're dumdum anyways 😅. Cant think from bigger picture. Greater peace scenario. Including this channel here, is a type of dumb reactor that only think about happy stuff and think everything is "jokeable'. But at least they know that Floch there is realistic
One thing I love about Erwin is his honesty. He didn't deceive anyone, didn't force anyone. Laid everything out on the table and let everyone decide for themselves. Others might be stronger than Erwin but he's the true giga chad of this show. He's doing all this with one arm and didn't even flinch once.
He deceived them in saying that the people who survive them or come after them will make their sacrifice meaningful. There's absolutely no guarantee that that will be the case.
@@Ideophagoushow is that a lie? Their sacrifice is meaningful because the survivors will carry on the mission further. They all have the same goal that is survival of humanity.
@@AliaAlisah 1/ there may be no survivors, 2/ even if there are survivors, they may live under such different circumstances that they stop caring about what happened before them making the Scouts' sacrifices pointless. Basically, Erwin had to convince the recuits to trade their lives for the hope that whoever remains or comes next will complete the mission, which is a gamble at best.
NOT A SPOILER Yes, Reiner has split personality, he is suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). He is both a warrior and a scout. This depiction is very realistic, reflecting the impact of war and traumatic events on a individual's mental health. As for Bertholdt, he does NOT have split personality. He seemed "different" because he has resolved his dilemma and gained courage/confidence to face his "comrades" without feeling guilty and asking for forgiveness like he said.
Reiner is just a bitch. He just doesn't wanna live with the constant guilt of his actions so his subconscious basically developed that split personality do he could atleast survive. But i still think he's a bitch.
Armin asking Jean to take over, even temporarily, shows how smart he is. He was out of ideas and made the right decision in such a short time. Jean was able to come out with a solution that would allow Armin to have more time to think. It might be not that obvious seeing him at first glance but I will always be amazed by it. This show is well written!
It’s why I think, in a world where the situation played out differently, Armin would work best as a commander in chief of the entire military, while Jean would work best as the scout commander. Armin’s great at big picture planning while Jean is best at on the fly planning. Armin would be great at writing out the grand scheme and Jean would be best at acting it out and adapting it when things come up.
19:15 ok so a lot of people don't get why Connie's laughing here. Connie made a joke about the flying house saying "Eren's house is flying". In Japanese it is eren ie ga which sounds exactly like eren yeager. Also for the English subtitles joke. Connie says, " Eren's house is eavesdropping." The flying part was the top which is called the eave so eave was dropping. (Idk if anyone would get this. I did a terrible job explaining)
Yeah unfortunately it can't really be translated so well in English. Had no idea what he was talking about until I learned some Japanese, after I actually got it it was hilarious 😂 Connie says "Eren no ie ga", meaning Eren's house (is flying). Remove the "no" and like you say, it sounds just like Eren Yaeger
Erwin, Levi, and their dynamic is just beautiful. Erwin feels immense sorrow because of the conflict between pursuing his dream and wanting what's best for humanity. He wants to reach the basement and uncover the truth of the world, but he also cares deeply about his fallen comrades and wants to give meaning to their lives. It got so bad that it almost drove him to suicide and it was only with the help of his most trusted comrade that he was able to face his death with a clear conscious. "Give up on your dreams and die" sounds messed up out of context, but Levi relieving Erwin of his burden is an act of love and respect.
Thank you for taking the time to write this. It encapsulates perfectly why I love that moment so much. In many other shows levi would just yell and say snap out of it go be the hero they need. I love how aot personalizes Erwin and shows how he is a great leader but also has this personal ambition of reaching the basement. And while other shows would double down and make him evil for having some secret ambition AOT pivots again and has him wrestle like all humans do of fulfilling a dream or saving others. Goddam it's just perfecr.
For me, showing what happened to Marco is always a reminder to what we always said "every words in AOT has a meaning" ... I mean in season 1 episode 13 when we saw Marco corpse we didn't think alot about it because you know there were a bunch of titans and sure some will die, and that moment when Jean was asking "what happened? Did someone saw how he died?" We were still okay with that and didn't overthink about it because at that time even though it's clear how he died but still we thought it's natural for Jean to act like this when he lose his friend and the one who encouraged and helped him ..but here we are after 2 seasons we got the answer to Jean's questions...really a brilliant and masterpiece show
I have watched Attack on Titan numerous times, but I can never get over how intense this season is. I will never forget Erwin's speech, which made me feel like I was willing to die with him too. And the way Levi used the titans to get close to the beast titan was crazy. They make such a perfect duo. This season is definitely one of my favorites.
My Soldiers, Rage! My Soldiers, Scream! My Soldiers, Fight! Shinzo wo Sasageyo! Shinzo wo Sasageyo!✊ Damn after all these years i still have tears in my eyes he'll forever be remembered as the best commander ever

Erwin's Speech... it's possibly the best speech ever in all media. It literally gives me goosebumps everytime. My Soldiers, Rage. My Soldiers, Scream. My Soldiers, FIGHT!!!!
I love your initial reaction to seeing the "Scout" Titan they mentioned and then your brain processing that it talked a second later. Demonic sounding voice too. Sheesh. Moving on, it's easy to forget but Bertolt was ranked 3rd in the top 10 of the Cadets. And him potentially not scoring higher is due to a lack of initiative on his part. When he has both initiative and drive, he is a force to be reckoned with(not many people could do a spin kick in the air and knock Mikasa off a roof) As for Perfect Game, that episode was a rollercoaster. Beast Titan playing baseball and obliterating the scouts, Bertolt kicking Eren out of the episode, Reiner is back up. I love how we see Levi continously distressed by seeing young recruits perish and now ALL of them are probably about to die. The red haired recruit talked about how he thought his death would mean something. Since it all seems meaningless. But if Levi can take down the Beast Titan, the lives of those who fell will pave a way to a future for the living. Mikasa, Bertolt and Erwin have said it in different ways. Mikasa finds beauty in it. Erwin finds that he has to fight against it. Bertolt thinks there's nothing to do but accept it. But all three of them have acknowledged that the world is cruel.

Something that just popped in to my head and it makes so much sense now why floch felt so rebellious. It's because he didn't get that speech from season 1 where Erwin asked if they could die if they were asked to. Floch was never given the chance to hear this speech so when he and the new recruits were told to die in a suicide charge they were throwing up, crying and scared. It makes so much sense. None of them were prepared to die even if Erwin asked them to. But you know what? They still did it. And no matter how controversial floch may be you have to give him credit for it. That's why he's such a good character. He's written perfectly
