Thank you for the race report - that was a really good description of it, and you really got inside what it was like. This was easily the hardest race I have ever completed - the combination of wind, hills and heat was like nothing I have ever done before. I was some way behind you - finished in 16:40 - so well done on yours!
Absolutely love your real, honest and helpful videos. you had a big part in helping me gain confidence to do a 70.3 and this video has helped me mentally prepare for large water shoreline tri. keep it up!
Brutal course. But a very well made video! Hopeful to do an ironman someday. Too bad in this covid time an ironman race is financialy impossible. But maybe someday! Cheers dan
Thanks Brian, wonder what went through your head watching this video... And you're spot on, you can't take away the lanza19 moment! Will always have a special place in my heart!
Good stuff, congrats on the achievement. Hopefully 2021 I will do my first IronMan, at this point I am looking at Tallinn. But thanks for the videos, they have been a good insight on the race
Well done Dan! Epic effort, you just need to do Ironman Wales 🏴 to claim the bragging rights to completing both of the hardest Ironman Triathlons in the world.
Totally agree, very tough day, I’d really underestimated the hills and wind on the bike. I also thought I’d have an easier ride fir the last 50k.. That short out and back at 140k was torture. But I loved every minute of it.. I’m sure I’ll go back
@@leewalters2794 unlike every other Ironman I did before I stopped 3 times on the bike.. toilet break.. all I wanted was complete so I did treated myself to not... myself on the bike :) my watts dropped a fair bit the last 1h.. nasty long course :) u racing it next year?
@@DanNoz I was thinking of trying to register for it when registration reopens. I'm doing Copenhagen next year and will certainly do Lanzarote at some point. Can't swim at the moment though. You have future plans, Dan?
thanks deano, depends on your ambition, I'd say. if you wanna be top 10% in your age group tt I'd say. if it's about finishing than whatever you are comfortable in. The big question for lanza is how bad is the wind.. there's been a lot of times where I was going 13mph full in tt into headwind.. I Def didn't gain any performance boost, but it made me feel like I am dodging the wind.. on the downhills I felt too scared to go full tt because of the sidewinds.... hope that helped.. u racing it next year?
@@DanNoz I thinking about it, it'll be my first full and want to get the hardest one out of the way early. Majorca 70.3 later on in the year, a few weeks rest then on to a 24 week plan. Any advice about accommodation in Puerto del Carmen. Thank You.
thanks Gary, there's a few serpentines on the downhill. the issue on this course is not the course, it's the wind that makes it dangerous. especially coming from the side. u racing it this year?
@@Gary-iz8re there were only a few last year on disc wheels, I would not recommend it. but then wait and see how the wind will be on race day. we had very strong wind last year
Excellent race recap and kudos to you for completing one of the hardest Ironmans💪. Well done! Btw what was going on with the woman in the finish shoot at the end of the video - can’t really hear what you said there? Let us know what’s next Dan!!!
Thanks Lummers, you mean the lady from the passion fit tri club? Or the one with the black hair and the braid? I just said she's got epic hair :) What's next... big news...stay tuned :)
Great video! Thank you for creating it. Your watts are insane, what is your FTP in watt per kg? I am just trying to realte to my fitness level. And I am lLooking forward for my own IM Lanzarote 2020, but first IM Hamburg in 2.5 weeks!
thanks russ and first of all Best of luck for Hamburg. convinced it'll be epic. I am a big boy, weighing 82kg.. at best 78 :) and ftp at 305 (3.7 3.8w/kg at threshold)

Lanzarote is a brutal island to cycle on.
The wind is relentless and unforgiving.
Well done Dan. Looks incredibly tough!

Dan, you are changing the race report game!! You *ALMOST* inspired me to register for an Ironman. Perhaps a half in 2020 (:
thanks buddy 🤗.. I will remind you in 2020.. there's a few stunners in the states to pick from.... St. George utah for instance
Thanks for sharing Dan, good review!
Congrats Dan! Regards from Indonesia
Great reporting! Could you do another video on your training? Cheers
Hey dan, thanks for making this video... I was there this year too.. what an epic Ironman course

Congratulations Dan. Looks brutal. And thanks for the video. What watts did you put out for the bike as a whole AP & NP?
212 ap 222 np, 17mph average.. brutal wind on that day..
