I use all these drills the past 3 seasons, but I also added flex bands (around the waist) so there is resistance. The player holding the band just runs off to the side of the lay down pads. Once I added resistance I really saw a difference in their power running during the games.

This is an excellent instructional video, I just moved from coaching LBs to RBs and the drills have definitely given me a great starting point as a learn my craft.

Im just now seeing you replied to me.
But yes, i would agree with you. I would be concerned about the stamina of a RB or any football player. but i think they have good atributes as well. But as far as stamina is concerned, what about a swimmer? treading water for 10 mins is rough for me. lol. But these Olympians play water polo for an hour or so. Tall, long arms, good reach, stamina for days... Probably not so tough though. Idk if any other sport is as tough as boxing, cept football.

I did not misspeak. A running back gets 100 yards (MAYBE) over the course of a whole 60 minute game. Ok, boxers do not have to be explosive for the entire 3 minutes, but they are explosive throughout the course of a 12 round fight more than a running back who carries the ball 20 times a game, even less in today's game because of passing offenses. Boxing is about TRYING to pace yourself; if your opponent is good and tough enough to press you, all bets are off.

I've boxed too... i know what it takes. But you always know that in boxing you can take rounds off... You misspoke, you dont HAVE to be explosive for all 3 mins in 12 rds. If youre up by a margine, or if youre hurt, you can take rounds off to get your bearings back. and you can hold as well... i think a TOP RB can sprint 100 yrds faster than a TOP boxer can. Alot of Boxing is pacing yourself. And all i said is a RB will be INTERESTING in the ring. Not be better.

Just watching this video... I think a RB may have some success at boxing... think about it...
supreme stamina, use to taking strong hits, very quick footwork, great balance, explosive... Teach this how to punch, you got someone VERY interesting...
If it was MMA... He would be champ in no time. lol.

Negative. In boxing, you have to be explosive for 3 minutes at a time; not just a few seconds, stop, then go to a huddle to rest some more. I've done both, and you have to be in much better shape to box than play football.

Adrian Peterson averaged 160 yds per game... not to mention how many times he would catch and run... Which is more bothersome, having one guy to defeat or having an entire 12 man defense trying to take you? ALSO, boxing is 36 minutes (not including 1 min break) football has Overtime. so it could be 60+ minutes... But anyways... I think we are more or less saying the same thing... That boxers are supreme. yes. ALL im saying is a RB would be INTERESTING IN THE RING!
    Do you disagree with that?

I may. In Mike Tyson's heyday, I've often wondered how he'd been in an NFL backfield. That goes along with the ridiculous attempt to put him in ring with Tony Mandarich when he was coming out of Michigan State..... It's funny how people are. They really thought 'ol Tony had a shot against Mike.....

Ya he's short but he probably has more football knowledge than any of you, height doesn't mean anything!
