I was in Rome last year with my sister and since you already recommended this restaurant in another video, we went there and it was amazing😋 Thank you very much! We ordered the carbonara and the cacio e pepe☺️
We spent 3 months in Rome last year. We lived 5 minutes from da Michele. It was our “go to” place. Never had a bad meal there! We are returning in September. Non vedo l’ora!
Was so lucky to be there in the spring time many years ago and tried carciofi alla giudia...life altering. It didn't matter where we went in Italy...Rome, Venice, Amalfi, even the tiny little cafes had the most wonderful food. Along with the artichokes, the other dish i just can't forget was a seafood with squid ink pasta in Venice...OH...and at a little cafe in, i think Positano, with fresh pastry...the sfogliatelli was nothing like I'd ever had in the States...100 times better, amazing.
Question for Jessi: since I’ve been married to a French guy forever who speaks absolutely perfect English & we live in the US, I have had to study French really hard to be able to function alone in France. I’m probably at the high intermediate level. I’m curious about your Italian level & ability to speak, travel & comprehend Italian on your own. Have you taken intensive classes?
I just love all the Italian Content!!! I miss Italy and you bring it to me through your videos. Grazie!
When you know how actual carbonara is made, every time you see Gordon Ramsay put in peas and mushrooms and cream, you wanna scream out of frustration.
hahahahah you are soooo right
I mean, no disrespect, but a british guy making italian food is never going to be the real thing
@juanaltredo2974never ever
No NO he has never said it's an authentic Italian dish he make's it that way.
@ThePasinisEverywhere in Italy need to realize by now that we add our own version or twist on the food get over it already it's so damn annoying.
My mouth is watering for those zucchini flowers!
Harper and Ava from Pasta Grammar moved to Dasa Italy. You all should collaborate
Love this restaurant and its simple and local feeling. While the prices are not as cheap as a few years ago, the portion sizing is far more than anyone at the same price point, and their dishes taste great! I look forward to going back and trying more dishes. I was surprised at how great their suppli was - despite being so simple!
ALL THE FOOD LOOKS DELICIOUS, I want some😢😢
Just a simple thanks for sharing this video with the world 💫❤
Guys if you're still in Rome, try in San Giovanni the restaurant called "La caraffa"
I went to da Michele when I was in Rome last year and had their carbonara. It was absolutely lovely!
Cacio e Pepe is my absolute favorite!
That's some good comfort food right there.
My husband and I are visiting Rome in September from Australia. This restaurant will definitely be on our list of places to eat!
Please do my wife and I just went and was amazing and the value was incredible
We would make pasta as kids and just put butter, pepper and parmesan on it. I never knew I was eating REAL Italian pasta 🤣
perfect timing, I'm making Rome plans 💜
We spent a week in. Rome as a family and my kids are carbonara and piadina every day
This video was awesome!! Our family is traveling to Rome in 1 week!! This restaurant WILL BE on our places to eat when we are on holiday. Thanks guy!!❤
In general in Italy you eat very well almost everywhere, every region has their own specialty, own recipes.
They are so sensitive about their food culture❤❤
Yes, even the chinese food is so good 😂, in Italy
This is the second time (at least) you have featured this ristorante. It looks like they are upholding the newly minted traditions quite well!
I Love To See The Roman Cucina!!!
You make me happy watching you eating Italian food
Mado che fame!!!! Vivo in Canada e ste cose me le sognoooo😢
When you were wondering what the spice in the trippa was I yelled at my computer screen "Mint!" Make it pretty often in the summer when my Boston area backyard is overgrown with mint.
Never been to Italy, but of Sicilian background. My mother made us tripe and I loved it as a child. I never learned to make it ( she died too soon) but it's a dish I miss. Family bucket list is to visit Sicily.
I love watching u guys go out n try things and go on trips!
The third Roman pasta is Pasta alla Gricia
A Roma quelle polpette ripiene di riso si chiamano "Supplì al telefono" perché la mozzarella col calore si scioglie e diventa filante. Un volta i telefoni avevano il filo.
Parmigiana looks so yummy and all the dishes in Rome are small dishes and portioned very well. I'm not a big fan of Eggplant but, if I ever were to go to Rome, I would definitely try that.
Everything looks so wonderful. Great recommendation. My mom made eggplant parm only flour and eggs, no breadcrumbs. Said the breadcrumbs too up too much oil. Made it that way for years but now I just use plain eggplant. However, I will now slice my eggplant very thin. Great tip!
I am currently reading Storia della pasta in dieci piatti by Luca Cesari, and from your videography and description, this restaurant has rendered the pasta dishes according to the currently received authentic rendering. Pasta was usually just maccheroni boiled in water (or sometimes broth) and dressed with grated pecorino or parmesan,
We do eggplant parmesan like a lasagna- but my other half is from New York, so maybe he learned the right way to make it!
Aw man. I was in Rome a week ago and would have been so excited to have run into y’all. 😂
I did have some of these foods though. Yum!
I love Rome so much and I've been lucky enough to have found amazing places to eat, far from the tourist restaurants. thank you both for sharing your journey to the enteral city with us
You forgot Pasta alla Gricia, which is one of the four traditional Roman pastas.
We will be going to Rome in the not too distant future - will definitely put this on our list. Always so hard to know where to go for an authentic experience when you are a tourist, so this recommendation is very much appreciated.
Yes there are lemon balm leaves in the Roman tripe sauce, that's why it's so aromatic! It's a real delicacy
I was going to suggest maybe they used mentuccia, which is also
used in the artichoke dish Carciofi alla Romana. In English it is called lemon balm.
@karenm5113yes, that's what I meant, thanks! I didn't know it was called lemon balm in english
@scubbasan I only recently learned this name in English! :-)
Ciao ragazzi... Enjoy ❤
We made fried squash blooms all my life ! I love them with cheese and garlic!
Wow this looks almost as good as the tour of Italy at Olive Garden! Haha.
I love squash blossoms in a soup with onions and collard greens. I will have to try it fried this year.
Beautiful family life story of the restorante da Michele❤
We are in Rome now and I am watching your videos! Thanks for all the tips! We loooooove Italian food!😋😋😋
Thank you for sharing
Everything looked so delicious
❤❤❤❤
See you all in the next video
Thank you for sharing!
I loved the suppli when we were in Rome last year. It reminded me of the inside of my stuffed peppers.
Greetings from Wisconsin, United States. Thank you for this wonderful review. You have made me hungry. The squash blossoms and carbonara looked delizioso. I so enjoyed the history of the ristorante. The love from a dedicated family is what makes a ristorante great!
So ready for another trip to Italy! Haven’t been to Rome yet and it’s definitely on the list!
Squash blossoms are my absolute favorite!
I want the zucchini flowers I love them especially with anchovy.
My oldest daughter and I recently returned from a 10 day tour of Greece and Italy. We could have spent much more time in Rome and Florence. I'm also still dreaming about this pistachio pastry I had in Naples. I'd go back just for that! 😆
Yes! The pistachio pastries are delicious and definitely dream-worthy😋😋😋♥️♥️♥️
Simple pasta dishes are tje best. Oil, garlic pepper maybe a little lemon. Amazing
Amatriciana is by far my favourite „Roman“ signature dish, however only the way like it’s made in its birth place Amatrice. Use thick Spaghetti like they do there, it enhances the whole dish, use white wine, peperoncino is not optional, and guanciale from Amatrice, if you can get it.
Bucatini go well for a lot of Sicilian dishes but Amatriciana must be done with Spaghett(on)i. Btw, if Carbonara, it’s also ten times better with Rigatoni. But I recommend either Gricia or Pecorara instead. Thank me later.
Trippa alla Romana requires mint (same goes for trippa finta which is one of my favourite lunches).
I literally went there because of you guys
Bucatini is my favorite long-noodle pasta, I use it in Carbonara whenever I make it.
I’d love to eat like that again!
I wish I could find dishes like this in Phoenix. They look wonderful.
They are all doable at home if you have the right ingredients. Just follow some italian cuisine channels, such as Pasta Grammar, Vincenzo's plate, etc, and learn the proper way. Not impossible, not even too difficult. 😉
I love frying zucchini blossoms. The only downside is that, if you take the blossom, then you don't get to enjoy the zucchini gourd.
Grazie
Pasta grammar has an incredible eggplant parmigiana recipe. Best ever. Check it out!!!
Very nice!
Im going to Rome on August, thanks for the tips. ❤
I am living in Rome, but I am not Italian. It’s so hot here at the moment, I am not going out 😂
Da Michele! Ragazzi we live just a block away from this place and often go there. I always see the owner working there. French family living in Rome here ;)
When I am back in Rome (one day), I hope that I can eat there!
Really enjoyed that and will visit the restaurant next time I'm in Rome. And Jessi made me laugh as I thought when she put her hand by her ear and moved her hand like that, that she was making an interesting Italian hand-gesture that I hadn't seen. Of course, it was a fly. LOL!
Ciao Ragazzi! Io ho mamma laziale quindi tante ricette sono queste, amo la cucina tipica locale italiana ❤❤! Un abbraccio a voi due e buone vacanze in Italia 😘💚🤍❤️🇮🇹
ooooo quindi sei fortunata tu mangerai queste delizie quasi sempre
@ThePasinisstay in Rome then all you do is compare food from there and USA it's obviously gonna be different and honey you're American stay there then and you really need to stop acting superior you're not Italian you're American
@alexandriamcleod1822 superior opinion you've got there. If they compare the food in Roma to something American, those who haven't had the experience can get an idea what it's like and how it's different.
Go be hateful somewhere else!
I love suppli. If I find a restaurant that has them, I have to go there.
I have added this to my Italy trip for 2026. 🤤
In Florence, italy today. The temperature was 102 degrees F! Totally baking hot.
My mom was from KY and would cook the hell out of the eggs and use Tennessee Pride breakfast sausage with Kraft parmesan cheese. We LOVED it. I'm all grown up now and yes, the Roman way is delicious. All types of carbonara are marvelous.
Not fair! I’m ready for lunch and there are no more SST planes to get me to Rome! That was wonderful to at least SEE authentic food from Rome!❤
We went to Tome in August and hoped to eat here, but it was closed😩. Hopefully there will be a “next time!”
Italian cuisine!!!!!🇮🇹💯
amazing!
Having just been there with my wife after seeing this video the pane focaccia on the menu is just pane and translated to bread on the English side definitely get it also this video shows off the pasta here the pizza is equally beautiful also if you like anchovies 1000% get the stuffed zucchini flowers ❤ best we had in Roma
Yep. Trippa alla Romana does indeed traditionally have Mentuccia (Roman Mint) in the sauce.
Wish I'd seen this before our 2014 trip to Rome, Lol. The Parmigiana reminds me a little of Moussaka but without the bechamel and cinnamon. Delish! Thanks for the sampler, guys 👍👍 P.S. Jessi, take Alessio to Owensboro, KY for the barbecued mutton. It's renowned in the BBQ world and not that far from Nashville.
Probably they used the "mentuccia romana" as a herb for the trippa, it's a must in the original recipe as they say in Rome ☺ My favourite? At the moment the gricia!
I was in Rome last August and tried to go to da Michele. Sadly they were closed for the holiday.
This is how my family makes eggplant parmigiana…PAPER THIN IS A MUST!!
Cool history of the restaurant. Also, looks likes someone was getting full by end of the tastings lol
I once visited Scotland and they served me a carbonara which they insisted was authentic and everything I would want in a carbonara. Plus haggis.
OMG, I need pane focaccia RIGHT NOW! Have fun...miss living in Italia
I wanna go Rome! 🥰
Best time to go is Fall-Winter because of cooler weather. It’s never too late to go to Rome
We eat there with my wife’s cousin every time when we are in Rome!! Next time is October!!
Madonna !!!! 😱😱😱😋😋😋😋😋😁👍👍😋😋😋😋
Bravo Michel 👏Looking you up in Roma in 2026
I love squash flowers in quesadillas 🍽️
Wow! I never thought to put them into quesadilla... Great idea!!!!😊😊
You're either a tripe person or not. Living in South TX, eating it all the time made me somewhat of a fan, but I rarely crave it.
You are making me want to make carbonara
Currently in Rome! Can you guys do a meetup?
They arent looking for a 3 sum bruh
@Rockineagle84 bet you're disappointed about that 😢
Go to Trastevere quarter and eat well too
I usually am a guy that doesn't eat at all exotic animal parts like brain, liver, tongue, etc., but I love trippa especially with beans! 😍
you should go down south an visit Harper and Eva form pasta Grammar they are down in calabria
What about Pasta Alla Gricia???
Did you actually say you had a 30,000 mile walk? Thanks for sharing guys.
It's strange as an Australian to hear someone think lamb is unusual as we are so much lamb here it's on par with beef and chicken.
I love carbonara! Luckily we can buy everything in Paris at an Italian store I have been going to for over 30 years.
My son-in-law is Italian. His family moved to the US when he was five. Unfortunately, he speaks more Spanish than Italian. He and his brothers have a pizzeria that is constantly busy.
Yessssss!!!! ❤
