Wow! 8 Edison triumphs? I’m lucky if I could find just 1... they never seem to be under $1000 when I look on eBay. Anyway I enjoyed your story. (This is AmberolaAndy from the TMF by the way)
You said you were "wicked busy". Are you per chance from somewhere in New England? That cylinder sounded a lot better than I expected it to. I wish I could have showed this to my grandfather, he was born in 1917 and may have seen a few of these in his day. Alas, he died in 1999.
Nice video, I'm always exited when you upload. there is someone locally who has an Edison phonograph advertisement that was on a mirror, do you by any chance know if any such thing ever existed?
I have an edison Blue Amberol cylinder that has begun to crack... I've read that drilling a small hole in the front of the crack will stop it from expanding. Does this work? How deep would I need to drill? (drill to the plaster core or into the core?) Neat repeater attachments by the way....
Hi, You would need to drill a very small hole at the end of the split through the celluloid surface. If the split has entered into the recorded grooves it might be better to find another good copy of the cylinder since playing ANY cylinder with a crack or split will risk damaging your stylus. And then you'll have a real problem!
so exciting when you flip the switch. I think it actually goes into that black hole into another dimension
Thanks for your kind comments!
Around 9:00 - never heard such clear sybilants in cylinder phonograph records, wow!
Just found this. I've seen those, goofiest thing, cool though. I have that cylinder, one of my favorites. Collins was great. Thanks for the video.
Wonderful, been hoping for another upload for a while!, love the Arthur Collins cylinder
Thanks Alex. Always nice to hear from you.
very very cool!

I'm not familiar with that one. I've seen several mirrors with Victor Talking Machine logos in them but not Edison.
I wonder what the intro voice is from. (I bought her a victor victrolie)
if you ever read this: that bit that you are searching is from the record: uncle josh buys a victrola
Great
