@@Washeek There is an entire class of units dedicated to reaching max veterancy just so they can become exponentially more powerful. It's a cool concept that is only present in a few units, takes way too much time to reach for it to not be awkward and really should be updated. Like I said, using a unit extensively just to get a +1 in defense feels bad but with something like unit tradition that gives xp to a pool of said unit and then unlocks general passives or stats is a mechanic that can make chaff centered factions much more viable by making units you use a lot more effective. AoW is an fantasy grand strategy rpg, a mechanic like this was present in AoW3 and I don't see why it shouldn't in 4.
Yikes, what a mixed bag kind of updates. Spellcasters can no longer take the absolutely vital run skill to disengage from melee? Oof. No more randomized signature skills is a small upside tho. Does this also mean that unlocking tomes no longer grants access to their respective hero traits? Or how is that supposed to work now?
I am not saying any of this is bad, but it is very confusing for a casual player. I don't play that often, but every time I start playing again, something major has changed in the game and I have to relearn stuff.
Yeah, their rate of updates is too damn high. Wouldn't complain, but there are indications that some features would have profited from more time in the oven. Especially making sure that all the old stuff plays nicely with new stuff. This smells like "The Paradox way" and that is no bono.

Would be sad if the game ended up a hot mess that no-one can maintain properly (design wise).
Dragon Rulers taking another nerf (albeit indirectly), ontop of what will likely make heroes even more tedious... Being blunt at this rate, I'd honestly consider just removing the hero system entirely, this is getting to Neverwinter levels of "It really wasn't broken so why do you keep trying to fix it?" Dragon Rulers get forced into a class because of their element? That's an awful idea get rid of that. Weapon Determines class and weapon-locks the hero? Awful idea, again kick it to the curb and into the bin where it belongs. Like these aren't fun changes, their just gonna make me avoid getting heroes more then introducing the hard-cap already does, or just looking into modding heroes back to how they used to be before he Hard-Cap on PC, these are just plain awful decisions and between Planetfall's lack luster support and unstable state and the constant awful changes to AoW4, I am honestly second guessing if the game is actually worth supporting as someone who has bought the game, and I think I will start sticking to Galdius or Endless Legend, where I can actually customize my heroes how I want to.

@@ayuvir Do you mean units with evolve?
Quite like the new talent system, feels much more coherent and easier to overview than scrolling endlessly
Will this go live for consoles?
Yes, although I can only confirm on Xbox as that's what I have 😅
Yikes, what a mixed bag kind of updates.
Spellcasters can no longer take the absolutely vital run skill to disengage from melee? Oof.
No more randomized signature skills is a small upside tho.
Does this also mean that unlocking tomes no longer grants access to their respective hero traits? Or how is that supposed to work now?
Missing some music or something
I love this but..why make a whole skirmisher hero tree when there is only literally ONE skirmisher weapon with no skin or roleplay options in ANY way
You probably found out already but there are now sword+crossbow skirmisher options for a handful of other cultures.
@AnaatthiGozo i did and i am SO hyped for it
I am not saying any of this is bad, but it is very confusing for a casual player. I don't play that often, but every time I start playing again, something major has changed in the game and I have to relearn stuff.
This.
Yeah, their rate of updates is too damn high.
Wouldn't complain, but there are indications that some features would have profited from more time in the oven. Especially making sure that all the old stuff plays nicely with new stuff. This smells like "The Paradox way" and that is no bono.
The game has been out for more than a year, and this is the biggest change to date, mechanic wise ... Just be patient and it will all click, this is an amazing game and we love this contents and updates...
@@Pretender717 I do love the Triumph studio to bits. They're like the last guys on the market that I trust with my money.
I also do love to grumble whenever they do stuff differently than I'd like to. And tbh have been a little worried ever since the release schedule for DLCs has been announced for AoW 4.
Would be sad if the game ended up a hot mess that no-one can maintain properly (design wise).
This feels like its a hinderance then a buff.
Time to reinstall
In the future, wouldn't it be possible to create heroes (no ruler) who could appear in the game together with randomly generated heroes?
Not sure about this seems to linear to me.
Indrid Sellsout (jk)
This is one of the best modern RTS games to come out in the last 5+yrs
@@mfinuka2557 its NOT RTS. Its turn strategy
Dragon Rulers taking another nerf (albeit indirectly), ontop of what will likely make heroes even more tedious...
Being blunt at this rate, I'd honestly consider just removing the hero system entirely, this is getting to Neverwinter levels of "It really wasn't broken so why do you keep trying to fix it?"
Dragon Rulers get forced into a class because of their element? That's an awful idea get rid of that.
Weapon Determines class and weapon-locks the hero? Awful idea, again kick it to the curb and into the bin where it belongs.
Like these aren't fun changes, their just gonna make me avoid getting heroes more then introducing the hard-cap already does, or just looking into modding heroes back to how they used to be before he Hard-Cap on PC,
these are just plain awful decisions and between Planetfall's lack luster support and unstable state and the constant awful changes to AoW4, I am honestly second guessing if the game is actually worth supporting as someone who has bought the game, and I think I will start sticking to Galdius or Endless Legend, where I can actually customize my heroes how I want to.
