A few comments: Eyebrows are really good for adjusting the figure's expression. In many ways they're more important to paint than the eyes. If you have to skip one, skip the eyes and paint the brows (at least for tabletop quality). As with the rest of the mini, paint from the inside out. The mouth and the eyes are on the inside of the face; paint them first. Most people have a harder time painting the eye farther away from their dominant hand. Paint the eye you find more difficult first, then match that eye when painting the eye on the easier side. The sclera (whites) of the eyes take up a very small portion of an eye in most expressions. Look at photos or look at yourself in a mirror to see how small the "white" triangles actually are. The normal color of the sclera is a bluish gray; most definitely nothing very close to white. Look at the photos on the covers of hair color packages when painting hair. Pay attention to where the highlights go, how bright the highlights are and how dark the shadows are, and look at the actual hues in highlight and shadow. That's the best source I've found for hair painting examples. Oh, and stepping on metal miniatures (or hitting them with a hammer, so long as you don't hit too hard) is a pretty good way to make casualty figures. 8-)
Hey , David and Jazza I enjoy watching your table top time videos it really inspired me to painting miniatures I would like really like it, if you could do a painting video of storm caster if you wouldn't mine I really like the storm caster. Thanks David and Jazza the doing table time videos.
Wow... Very nice. Was happy with mine until now. Now I see where you're getting the depth I knew I was missing but couldn't pinpoint where to get it from at this scale. Very helpful thank you!
Eyy, the Crimson paint made it in there!! Eventually!! "you stab the model, gently." Well, in my very little time in painting faces definitely leads to wanting to stab the mini, just a little less gently. These are always so nice to watch! It totally feels like there is a comfortable groove that has been settled into, with the mini videos! They're just wonderful!
This is the exact model I’m trying to paint. I have the entire body and Base all done and it’s turned out as one of, if not the best minis I’ve painted yet. I have taken the paint off the face about 15 times now this is the biggest wall I’ve ran into so far in my hobby journey
I'd love to see a paint selection video for Drukhari as I am about to get into WH40K and I have picked them as my first army. Finding it rather challenging to choose a colour scheme (have seen the photoshop video) and then know which paints I'll need to buy.
This was super helpful and easy to understand! I am not an artist, but the little palette you made in the beginning is such an awesome idea, I can't believe I never considered it. Will be subscribing and watching more videos!
Thanks to TableTopTime, I’ve gotten into mini painting! But I mostly enjoy painting monsters. I’d love a video about epic monsters! Kinda like the crocodile 🐊 from before..but MORE!!
I like how the owner of a gaming shop is restricted by the paints available in jazza’s studio lol! I think the new studio needs to be fully stocked I hope the auctions go well!
Good tips there! Personally I add the black for the iris at the beginning, then add the white of the eye and then paint the face - but that's something I've been doing for decades! I'd love to see you paint some non-GW mini's only with non-GW paints/brushes etc. It's good to challenge yourself with things like that, as it can help you uncover paints/brushes/tools that you like and prefer. I moved away from all things GW 20 years ago, but have painted a couple of the minis as comissions and managed to put into effect things I had learnt on other companies minis to great effect. As for paints, Kimera are my go to as they just stand so far ahead of everything else I've ever used. I do have Vallejos and Pro-Acryls in my paint rack and use both, when the time is right to do so. Would also like to see you do a bit of a brush review/camparison between everything from GW and Army Painter to Squidmar and Bomb Wick to Broken Toad and Artis Opus
Awesome Vid! I'd love to see how you would paint face paint like clown makeup over this as I'm currently painting some Clowns for my Joker Crew from Knight Models Batman Miniatures Game.
Man he looks so good. I need to do some work on my space marines, or maybe someone could paint some Tau minis so I can get some tips because there's not many vids out there for it.
If you want a better white paint check out Pro Acryl by Monument Hobbies. All there paint have a super matte finish and the white goes on really well with no issues.
now this is the reason i have made it lore why my SP always have helmets on so I don't have to paint skin/ heads. They have sunlight sensitivity due to living on a nocturnal like planet so they cant see in bright light and that is why they have there helmets which are designed so they can see in any type of lighting. If you don't like doing something make it cannon with your amy. still a really good vido might try it with my GSC in the future
Don't undersell the whole 'focus on tiny details that nobody will ever see'. As someone with OCD (and ADD, how the Hell is THAT even fair?!?) I will friggin' agonise over those teensy little detail on my models because even if nobody else sees them /I/ know they're there and it drives me insane when they're not 'right'. Kudos for working through the tiny details man. It makes me feel a lot less bad for doing the same :)
I eat up every face painting video I can. I'm the idiot who picked Space Wolves and found out that like almost none of them wear helmets. I'm ok with where I am for now but eager to keep growing. One challenge I face most often is painting non-Caucasian skin tones. I mean I can do it but it doesn't have the same color richness and often looks very flat by comparison. Any tips are appreciated.
I'm happy you're painting mini faces and not mini faeces!
In the grim darkness of the future, space marines still poop.
@@narratordave7831 Good job with the video mate, you handled it proper good! :) looking forward to more, thx for the plug.
@@SquidmarMiniatures Thankyou! And thanks for your awesome content over the years!
That comment vas kinda shitty :P
@ ba dum tsss
Man I needed this. My mini faces a are generally garbage. Great tutorial Dave!!!
Thankyou, the next one will be delivered to you with the power of... camera focus :p
Narrator Dave and real terrain hobbies!! This is like a dream come true!
Same i can't paint miniature faces

I'm painting my first face today, brilliant timing! Thanks for the tips!
GOOD LUCK!
Ayyyy it's Alex Bertie!
Hey , David and Jazza I enjoy watching your table top time videos it really inspired me to painting miniatures I would like really like it, if you could do a painting video of storm caster if you wouldn't mine I really like the storm caster. Thanks David and Jazza the doing table time videos.
Heyyy! This is the first video that only has my mug in it! Nowonder the camera is out of focus! Where's Jazza when you need him!
What a beautiful thumb though!
Great video!! Thanks for the tips
You did great Dave!!! Hope the move is going well for you all!
Wow... Very nice. Was happy with mine until now. Now I see where you're getting the depth I knew I was missing but couldn't pinpoint where to get it from at this scale. Very helpful thank you!
awesome dude. try dotting eyes with a fine needle dipped in paint.
Eyy, the Crimson paint made it in there!! Eventually!!

Yes some of us would definitely love to see more of this type of virgin
Dave, you are a wonderfull part of this channel!
"wait a minute... Humans have eyebrows!" That's a quote i will use dayly regardless of context
Perfect timing. Im about to start this with a couple of minis
I got some minis coming in and this will be a great reference to rewatch when they arrive

Just started painting again and your vid was perfect to get the "painting love of my brain" knitting nee neural networks. Cheers.
That turned out great! Very realistic!
100% more vids like this please my 12yo is desperate to learn and this is perfect 👌
This was super helpful and easy to understand! I am not an artist, but the little palette you made in the beginning is such an awesome idea, I can't believe I never considered it. Will be subscribing and watching more videos!
Dave taking the lead for Jazza is awesome
Yes please more of this and terrain lol
Beautiful!! Thank you for the inspiration!!
Great job on that face. Look excellent and thanks for being one of the inspirations behind our channel. Making me realise its never too late to start!
This was so interesting to listen to! I've been thinking about making minis and this came at the perfect time
Thanks for this tutorial!! Mini faces are so dificult and you give some really grear tips! Can not wait to try it out myself.
Insane detail on the face! Definitely worth it! Thank you 😊
i remember watching this on discord, so much thumb, lefty problems. great video
Not long until the new studio and the fabled 'over the right shoulder' camera :)
Thanks to TableTopTime, I’ve gotten into mini painting! But I mostly enjoy painting monsters. I’d love a video about epic monsters! Kinda like the crocodile 🐊 from before..but MORE!!
Nice!
That looks delicate
Great tutorial. Such a small, but important part of a mini!
I like how the owner of a gaming shop is restricted by the paints available in jazza’s studio lol! I think the new studio needs to be fully stocked I hope the auctions go well!
HAHAH owning a game store and being a hobbiest and painting for TTT? That just means my paint is spread across three locations at any one given time!
Good tips there! Personally I add the black for the iris at the beginning, then add the white of the eye and then paint the face - but that's something I've been doing for decades!

For pupils, I use a fineliner pen; minimizes the squish potential latent in brushes.
I really like this style of video. It's very, "this is an overview of what I did to make the face like this," rather than "do it this way."
i love this channel almost as much as i love the algorithm!
Some great tips here, thanks guys!
I don't have an artistic bone in my body, but I love watching videos like this!
Great tips, awesome outcome, love it! Need moar pls!🖌️
This is awesome! Next up, painting whites, and yellows....
I love Dave videos.... I love Dave ;] 😻
For the Emperor Brother!! Also awesome steady pulse!
Thank you! I’ve been struggling with the tiny faces 🥺
Best outro yet, advice to really take to heart
Amazing video! Keep up this amazing work!
Awesome video! More Dave please
These minis are incredible. Can we have a tutorial on how to paint them
Great tutorial, thanks 😊
What colour did you use on sides of the head? I'd love o replicate the shaved effect.
SO IMPRESSIVE! i love it :D
Very helpful! Thanks!!
Sweet vid bud, would love to see more like these :)
Nice work.
Outro...table top tah-tah? Loved the vid and seeing it done is great
Good job guys
Which brush are you using when you paint his lips? It looks to have really nice, stiff bristles. I need a brush like that.
Thank you!
Very useful thanks!
It's cool, I'd like more.
Waiting for that day when we get to see Jazza, Rob and Dave play a 40k game!
Awesome Vid! I'd love to see how you would paint face paint like clown makeup over this as I'm currently painting some Clowns for my Joker Crew from Knight Models Batman Miniatures Game.
Very good content Dave! Well done! I am not even sure who reads these comments if they even are read! Well good job and please pass it on!
A green stuff sculpting tutorial would be neat
How to face tiny painters:
Go to them and tell them, you're a great artis! Keep it up!
can we see more about the space bears.
Doing the eyes first, never thought of that.
YESS MORE OF THIS
Man he looks so good. I need to do some work on my space marines, or maybe someone could paint some Tau minis so I can get some tips because there's not many vids out there for it.
That really helped
More of this!
Can we learn how to narrate cogent role-play? It would be so helpful!! :D
Would love to see something from AoS.
Please deep dive into painting codpeices?
I'm really stumped as to how to get them to pop just right.
On the leading role; the thumb finger!
Could you guys do a video on non metalic metal? I want to try it but I'm too scared lol
If you want a better white paint check out Pro Acryl by Monument Hobbies. All there paint have a super matte finish and the white goes on really well with no issues.
Could you do painting Drukhari and Eldar faces?
AAAAHHHHH Eyebrows how have I never seen this.... Now I can never un see it.
that's great. I think he should be called Brother Angrymann.
I just noticed that the model is painted with a Non Metalic Metal technique. Daaaaamn!
now this is the reason i have made it lore why my SP always have helmets on so I don't have to paint skin/ heads. Excellent work! Now do that 150 more times! *laughs in horde army*
Hi Dave! *Waves*

I always find it odd that nobody paints eyebrows. Even Eavy Metal don't
I want to see you paint entirely with dollar store paints
Ya know, starting with the eyes makes a lot of sense....
It really does. Like how if you start with the eyes and mess them up real bad, you only have the tiniest area to strip before you can start afresh.
Wow!!
wait? hammer smashing isn't a part of mini making?! well this changes everything!
For the algorithm!
What happened to reboot exe im waiting for the next episode and im getting sad that it hasn't come out
You mean Bloodletter Glaze? They still have Carroburg Crimson.
Wouldn't it be easier to paint the face before you attached the bead to the body.
Don’t smash models with a hammer 😂 I just heard in my head “Do better.”
me like see badass character modeled and painted to look badass
me click like
me wait for next one
me easy to please

to be honest, i'm terrified to paint faces...! i hope this helps me
Good god man. Eye lashes?!?!
