I find haste past cap isn’t entirely worthless. Although you’re gcd locked, haste past cap allows you to stutter step in between mf casts without dps loss. So while it’s not a direct increase stat wise, it is an increase still
Hey! For bosses: if you do opener with Vampiric touch -> Mind Blast -> Devouring plague -> 3 tick Mindflay -> pot + racial + glove + trinket + (focused mind for +25% crit) with Shadow Word: pain (shadowfiend before a hero)-> Mindblast you get better opener as i tried a you get 2 Mind Blast in the starting 10s. i'm only on 90-98% parser, but this worked better :)
@@dimitristakis6396 sw:d we only use if there are for example 2s left on a dot. It's faster than a Mf2 so in a fight this adds up to a couple more god's per fight..
@MRK but there are zero points in inner focus according to his talent tree! But 2 points in improved vampiric embrace, instead of 2 points into veiled shadows?!
I tired the opener your way and got about 30 less DPS. this was solo target on dummy so I can imagine a full 25 man raid with different buffs offering different outcomes.
For aoe packs, if we're still running, I will DP some of the mobs, but as soon as the tanks stops, it's time to sear. You don't need to worry about shadow weaving on trash. On bosses, you want SW:P to have as high dmg as possible, since it pretty much cast once and forget it, so long as there's no down time where you can't mindflay to refresh it. The only time I recase SW:P is after a heroism, to get that haste snapshot. By then, you'll probably also have a trinket, or lightweave proc (if you're a tailor), so you're SW:P will just passively do nice dmg. If there's downtime, and you have to recast SW:P, do so after you get 5 stacks of shadow weaving again.
Not sure I know what you mean. The rotation given and the talent tree shown are proven for Fresh 80 priests and have been for the last 15 years. My best achievement on SPriest is ICC 25 King slayer.
Haste of 41.51% or 1359 is about the most you are going to squeeze out of the Sanctified gear. The trinket 'Charred Twilight Scale' is something to look at. Remember that if you are on Retail they are not on the ICC phase yet and you will not be close to getting maxed out stats.

Once you have 4/5 of the T10 gear you SHOULD spec the shadow fiend talent CD. the talent tree shown is your starting point for Fresh 80 and assumes your gear is very basic. If you are doing ICC 10 - 25 you will want the shadowfiend more often, it's not so important when you are farming your RDFs
Very helpful, seeing the rotation makes me feel like I've been doing most of the dungeon groups a disservice with my lack of damage

Very good guide! I agree with most of this, although I’d refrain from using SWD in PvE openers 👌🏼
i never used it until I saw some guides saying to use it. I guess it depends on your stats to an extent.

Why would you flay+death before pain? By that time the mobs are dead and the Pain was useless..
the rotations are for bosses not multi mobs. use AOE on mobs...

because you want to have 5 out of the 5 Shadow weaving buff on yourself. It maxes out the damage SWP can do. Thanks for asking!
