The Vek may remember them as traitors. But humanity will never forget their sacrifice. Rest in peace, Taaxetizl, Xakran, and Kxlatl. We will paint the timelines red (or whatever colour Vek blood is) in your names.
I almost ragequit during that turn because I couldn't see a way out... but thankfully I prevailed. Later on I saw there were numerous solutions to it, but it definitely was the most difficult turn of the game.
@@soulmata my experience of detect your mech is the techno veks seems to be more shiny, I don't know about that, but instead you could look at the tile color underneath, because it has specific color to represent your mechs
@@soulmata yeah. Am sure there is a good reason for it. I just thought the pun was funny, and it is weird you're not actually playing as Vek with the same weakness.
@@reina4969 Oh right, I see what you were getting at. Well, FWIW, the progression of SS is kind of "Vek -> Alpha Vek -> Leader Vek" in terms of damage and skill. Kiiind of.
@@soulmata Right. I am just now starting to see that progression. I am halfway in. They are so simple right now, I don't want to say it is boring, because it is still crazy hard, but it is coming down to creative use of burst shifts.
It can be very confusing at first. It gets easier when you train yourself to look at the orientation of the animation - enemy Vek are always orthogonal to yours, in terms of facing.
SS was not too hard. Fewer than 8 for sure, I was able to do it on the first night of the attempt. Steel Judoka was the one that probably took the most attempts, and that was likely 40 or more. But SS went pretty smoothly.
@@soulmata That's actually pretty surprising from what I've been reading online and such. I suppose you're probably just cut from a different cloth though. Several suboptimal choices, and quite a bit of luck involved early-game. Great video, could greatly use your commentary to understand your reasoning since in several scenarios there were more than a single optimal choice.
The giant slime, for example, spawned entities over emerging vek several times. Spider abomination spawned eggs in a straight line. No unsolvable scenarios presented, which is a possibility. Don't misunderstand me, your decisions are great I'm not removing any merit from you, but there is some dependencies on randomness, like the excellent early smoke bomb.
@@Other-AllOfTheAbove That's all true. The way I frame all my runs is that optimal is relative to what you're trying to achieve. If you're doing only AI pilots and only default weapons, for instance, optimal is going to take a lot more time and thought. I try not to spend too much time on a turn if I don't have to, so if a quick solution presents itself for a 30k run I'm going to take it. If you point out timestamps for specific moves, I can probably tell you my logic - though, I'm not as good of a player as, say, narD, who is probably the best I've ever seen
@@soulmata I understand. As for my concept of optimal, if you have ever played slay the spire or seen youtuber jorbs in serious action, a common idea of optimal results is not just ending a turn or match quickly, but doing so while obtaining bonuses (adding max hp through several specific methods, for example). In this game there would be 2 concepts that I can quickly identify. Starting your next turn in the best location map wise, and maximizing exp on a pilot.
That one firefly on the second island kept murdering it's comrades. You should've taken it into your team afterwards.
Whose to say he wasn't on our team? It's hard to tell with the SS anyway.

The fact the SS even exist betrays some sort of really creepy underlying lore that Subset is hiding from us...

...brilliant.

Another timeline saved from the Vek by Vek defectors/converts. Congratulations.
bought the game recently during the summer sale, now I'm able to see clearly how actually bonkers this whole thing was

The Secret Squad be like: I used the Veks to destroy the Veks
