    I enjoy the old episodes. We don't get this show on TV here so it is great to see them uploaded onto RUclips! Thank you for the video!

    Before anyone freaks out, this episode is from 2000. That's why the prices are so cheap. And, honestly, no one should expect prices to be the same for 22 years, lol.

      Interesting that Kirstie Allsopp instead of her sister Sophie is on this show. I had seen only Sophie on a show but I knew she had a sister that I never thought I'd ever see.

    It’s really sad and gives one a sense of despondency seeing how crazy the housing market has become for first time buyers. In today’s inflated and economic crisis, young people wanting to become independent is almost impossible within larger cities. It just seems so unfair and virtually means a life of renting until or if they receive some kind of inheritance.

    Oh my, having been a devotee for many, many years this one is new to me….wonder how Kristie and Phil would feel about comparisons, not only in terms of then and now, but property prices as well. Good grief, absolutely astounding changes.

      Yes. To be honest, I hate shopping - especially shoe-shopping - which I think would make Kirstie gasp in shock. But I think that she's the only person I've ever 'encountered' who could make me love to go shopping (maybe not for shoes) as long as she was along. She seems like such fun.

    I will never understand why people are so crazy for living in the city - the prizes nowadays are ridiculously high - nobody can afford it and to buy with the knowing that I have to spend most time of my life to pay that off… it is even more ridiculous to me. But hey - everyone to each his own. 😅

      I'm not a fan of having to commute a long distance to work, and even less of a fan of living too far from other amenities, from supermarkets to hospitals. And you don't have to get really rural for that to be a problem - I know of suburban areas locally where you need a car to run out and pick up some milk.

    “Professional house hunters” a.k.a. real estate agents 😂

    • @nancyn347
      @nancyn347 Год назад +3

      Actually, at first I thought the same as you, but then I understood what the term "professional house hunters" means. Kirstie and Phil look for houses for buyers, but they don't list homes themselves, like real estate agents do. So they are, literally, "house hunters."

    Yes, this is over 20 yrs ago and I was a child when flats were going for this price, so there was never any hope for me, but speaking as a Londoner, the prices are crushing my soul. I don’t recommend checking the prices of the flats mentioned in the video 🥲. Also! It’s funny watching old eps and seeing the horror on peoples faces about possibly renovating, it’s so normal now thanks to Phil and Kirsty (which is good or bad, I suppose, depending on your view)
