The whole purpose of this presentation is to invite people to use the payroll application of Odoo for what it can already do for ALL BUSINESSES REGARDLESS OF THEIR LOCALISATION, which is perfectly managing the work entries (manually, but also thanks to integration with the other applications like employee, contract, attendances and planning). Honnestly, I don't see why the functionality is silly in your eyes... If you are looking for a payroll solution to handle country specific use cases, it's also possible with Odoo depending on the localization you're looking for but it was not the goal of this presentation. As a side note, it's good to know that Odoo is making HUGE progress in developing the localizations and will launch a SMARTCLASS and continue to develop its official documentation to help odoo lovers to use the power of the Payroll application and to configure the calculation according to their own needs. Of course, in the end, it all depends on the level of complexity of the calculations needed for the country, some might be solved with basic rules and no extra fields needed, some other might require more business logic or even development in some cases.
