I use this lens a lot and agree with your comments. I like the way you have done a review and wildlife vlog at the same time. Those soldier crabs look fascinating.
this is exactly the video i was looking for... bought my z6 a week ago... i cant afford 500mm pf lens but this 200-500 i can... sitting on a beach on a sunny day with a zoom lens in hand is a great way to spend a day :).. nice video.. keep it up
Thx for the video mate, have watched a few reviews on this Nikon, and the Sigma / tamron 150-600... was heading the Nikon route gradually but you've swung me with this vid, hi from England :) Z bodies are the future, That Sun looks nice 😎
Very nice video 👍🏻 The photo's where a bit like macro photography when you couldn't come closer with a macro lens. And nice to see something different to use a tele photo lens for other than birds and whatever 👍🏻
Thank you for this wonderful video. I am contemplating the 200-500 f5.6 so reading and watching video reviews alot. However most video reviews at more technical in nature, this video is more functionality based with lots of real-use footages.
Hi there, thx for your cool video. Because there is no weather sealing, I'm a bit confused now....Would you recomment this lens without the weahter sealing above the 150-600 (Tamron or Sigma)?
Cheers, thanks for watching. I'd recommend this lens solely because it's a Nikon lens. I've had the Tamron before and wasn't that happy with the quality. Not sure about the Sigma.. For weather sealing all of these lenses don't have it. This is because when zoomed they extend out, which could suck dust or moisture inside. BUT! I've used my 200-500 in the pouring rain with no issues, I just made sure I wiped it down before retracting the zoom. The 200-500 is a fantastic lens and personally, the lack of weather sealing didn't put me off it.
I did use it with the Z8 but recently upgraded to the Nikon 180-600 Z lens. Much better than the 200-500, even though that’s still a great lens. I’d recommend the 180-600 since it’s a native Z mount lens, is lighter and faster. 200-500 would still work well for what you’re after though. I have reviewed the 180-600 as well, worth a watch if you’re keen.
@@Blinsaff or for wildlife would you choose this over the z 70-200 f2.8? As I was going to buy this the macro and the 200-500? Interested to know yours and others thoughts
@@Afterasimplelife hmm ok. The 70-200 z f2.8 is expensive - dearer than the 180-600. Personally, i’d go the 24-120 (landscape and walk around lens), the 180-600 and the macro. I have these lenses and are the perfect setup for me. But it depends on what you’re shooting, as well as budget
I just bought the same Lens after I watched your review. Thanks for the nice review. BTW I have an issue with rotating the Lens Collar. I can rotate clockwise for portrait but I cannot rotate back anti-clockwise for landscape. I have to rotate the rest 270 degree to get back to landscape position. Basically I can rotate only one direction, I can feel something is preventing to rotate opposite direction. Does your Lens has the same issue? Please let me know if easy for you to help me.
Great! Thanks for watching. It's an awesome lens. I had the same issue when I first got it. I sorted it by just completely loosening the screw so it's able to be taken it off - it should be flopping about. I still had to apply a bit of pressure to force it off though. Mine has a sweet spot just past the VR on/off button when turned anti clockwise. Just make sure the screw is completely loose and it should fix your problem.
Yes, it can be a bit hit and miss at times, can be frustrating. Closer they are it seems to work better, but I've found that most of the focusing issues are with lenses on the Z adapter. Issues happen (for me) only about 5% of the time - but usually in those times when I need it! Native lenses are much better though.
Nice review, but I wish you focused a bit more about the lens than the crabs. Overall, things you highlighted were informative. Also, I just don't understand why do you have to use a 360 camera to film yourself? LOL
Cheers. The crabs are about 25mm (1 inch) long. The 360 camera? Thought I'd try something a bit different haha. It's super easy and convenient just to set it up and press record

Thanks for watching! Yeah it's a cracking lens, and fits/works so well on my Z Nikons - so sharp, so good (so heavy!). Stay warm! Cheers
Love this, shows use of Nikon mirrorless and a nice dependable zoom lens.
I would love to try the Z6 or Z7 with the 500mm PF lens.
Me too! My wallet disagrees though

I'm going to get an adapter and use this with my Fuji X-H1. It looks to be much better than the Fuji 100-400mm Lens.
Awesome video and commentary 👌
Beautiful shots too!
Thanks very much 🙏

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
This is by far the best nikon ultra telezoom lens on earth
Amazing video. Please can you let me know the lens support you are using in this video?
Thanks very much. It’s just a Gorilla Pod

This is also useful. Do you use this with the z8? I was considering this for birds and fast jets? does it focus quite fast?

Nice Review. Thanks
Thanks!
Lens is not heavy. Your mirroless camera is too small as all mirroless are. If you attach reall DSLR then you will have properly balanced combo.
True, big lens small camera everything goes out of whack. Hopefully those future Z mount telephotos aren't as cumbersome
I heard the Z DSLRs can't focus on flying birds, regardless of lens.

The Z cameras are mirrorless, not Dslrs
@@wissell4287 true, and they can't focus as fast as DSLR's(VERY TRUE)
man what do you want,a metal lens that is light..then go for the 300 mm af/s D version
That’s a great lens.
Great video, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Would this fit a Nikon d 5600 normal or adapter needed
Yes, it would fit it easily - no adapter needed!
Will this fit the nikond5600 someone please let me know before i buy
Yes it will, but it will become a 300-750 lens 👀
👍🏻👍🏻

It's a ZOOM not a Telephoto !
Thanks Chuck
Imagine recording a video with parts in 4k, but not actually rendering at 4k.
Yikes.
Imagine living in a country that had subpar internet, which made it difficult to upload large 4K video files.
Yikes indeed.
