Thank God there is at least some footage of this immensely talented lady.
Listening to Judee sing The Kiss while watching the wind gently blow on the back of her white shirt on a sunny day in LA from so long ago is one of the most beautiful things I've experienced in a while.
I think “The Kiss” is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Amazing talent!
Eternal beauty, stunning intelligence from this, the best of all songwriters in the entire rock era - will be forever known.
I found it, Judee forever. I saw her live for the first time in fifty years.
Songs that touch the inner world of the human spirit are too good to be forgotten.
Thank you.
Absolutely adore this woman, so happy to come across this footage
Yes indeed, she is wonderful. Fabulous lyrics.
I can’t even tell you the amount of times I have come back to watch this... love Judee so much.
Such limited footage of one of the great artists of our time...but I cherish every second of it.
She a truely spiritual artist- that’s the thing with her, her mystery. It puts her in a different realm than even the Beatles - her profundity.
I’ve never seen the word ‘transcendence’ used so much to describe a songwriter - and it be so true…I love you wonderful Judee
Absolutely incredible footage. If I could go back in time, screw seeing the pyramids getting built. I’d go back to sit stage side and listen in awe to this performance.
Amazing talent and such a fragile soul-love you forever Judy
I didn't know this very talented young lady and I was very impressed hearing for her Jesus Was A Crossmaker. She's brilliant and I'm very sad knowing her very sad death so young... I hope that Jesus had sheltered her in his loving arms.
A haunting performance. Notice how no ones talking over her like they would now. But thank god someone filmed it on their iPhone!
hah the '73 iPhone
Poor child! He has no idea that there were no iPhones in 1973. It was a chance in a million that this was filmed.
Khayyam1048 were there no jokes back then, too?
Where is your evidence that George McCormick's comment was intended as a joke, Zoe?
Khayyam1048 Sarcasm not your strong point then?
A great artist and a transparent soul
This makes me cry ,it's so sad that this lovely talented wonderful woman isn't here anymore.
Oh, man. in 1973 I was living on Menlo Avenue, 3 blocks from USC, but I didn't know then who Judee was. So sorry that I never saw her, and sorrier still that she didn't get to live out a full happy life.
How many unknown talents were/are out there like Judee
Try Nick Drake
a one in a million talent, absolutely beautiful music that touches my heart
Amazing songwriter and guitarist.
The lady is missed by many and such a talent is unique..so moving to see her sing like it was a private showcase...thank you so much for this. A fan from France
Oh how I wish I could have been there...the presence of greatness! Xxxxxxxx
Sadly, hardly anyone recognised her greatness when she was alive, myself included. I remember seeing her name in the weekly (UK and Ireland) music mags, but in those days I didn't have the money to buy albums on spec, and of course there was no internet. A very similar sad tale to that of Nick Drake.
Wow! Brought back great memories. Have her records. Can't believe I am that old!
You're that old.
YES, I'm OLD AS WELL! (;
I love Judee, she's AMAZING!
amen 2 that Bob her voice is so mesmerizing so glad I found some live footage
Wow, amazing,....
She was so talented, she had such a wonderful voice.
Be resting in peace dear Judee. ❤
There just are no words.
So good on her own. The records are great layered with all the instrumentation but damn. She really holds it down
She composed the substance of those arrangements into the songs. They're there, in whatever instrumental guise.
She is always better without the overproduction on the records. The ONLY exception is The Donor.
@@OFR Production. Not overproduction.
The arrangements on the first album are subtle and absolutely wonderful.
@@danieldirand4702 the layered vocal on the album version of The Kiss is so unnecessary. The live versions beat it hands down.
I love you sweet Judee
Oh,What a Beautiful ! I Love Her.
Best female artist to sign with Asylum. Actually, the first to sign with Geffen's label. She will be remembered forever,
like Bach is remembered, her genius will continue to shine.
Love Judee but Joni Mitchell def stands on her own as well.
laura Nyro was the best, but she passed on Asylum and Geffen
Best ARTIST to sign with Asylum.
I love Laura and Joni but Judee is in another world - musically (no one writes melodies like she does) and poetically- she’s untouchable. Spiritually- forget it..
superb still got her albums from the early seventy's her songs were a dream
beautiful voice
Thank you Thank you Thank you
She did "Last Resort" live! That is so incredibly cool. Thanks so much for posting this. Judee Sill had such an amazing voice.
Thanks so much for sharing this "cinelover". This is really something special. "The Kiss" has become one of my all time favorite songs these past few years. Hearing just how well the audience sings along with Judee at the end of the 1st song here really says something about the music listeners then and a lot of the people in general (at least at this show!). Sadly these days we can't get people to simply sing a part separate from the lead vocal line nor clap on 2 & 4.
The greatest of them all
Just smiling to see this rare footage. Her talent is so great. Her cool sense of humor at the beginning after the bang, she acts like she got shot 😂 ...
this is so great
I first saw Judee perform live in '72 (Troubadour) and became an instant groupie. I was also a soph. at USC in '73. I'm wondering if I might have been in this audience...??
In love with Judee.
I was thinking the same thing. She's quite new to me but I'm completely smitten.
this is a "pearl" she was so talented!
What a gift! Thanks for uploading! Man, I wish I could see her hands on the frets, there a couple of passing chords that are tough to figure out by ear!
David: Thank you thank you thank you! Such a treat to witness this phenomenal addition to the preservation of Judee's legacy!
Thanks for sharing this. What an amazing talent.
The Last Resort is such a banger 🔥
Chills
Priceless...thank you so much x
Gorgeous voice, so sad she died so young and so troubled.
what a special, sparklin soul... 💛
Magnífico! 👏👏👏
I love her :-)
Sublime. Thanks for uploading.
Pure bliss.
Awesome to feel her presence. Such a powerful soulful player & wordsmith. The cutaway montages were unnecessary though. Judee’s unadorned music is more than enough.
Thank you so much !
wonderful
Nine comments. So sad. Such a wonderful, almost certainly genius.
She was a darling of the Old Town folk scene, and I kinda wondered whatever happened.
No "almost" about it. This is the genuine article.
Now there are over 100
We are in the presence of true genius here. This puts most so-called singer-songwriters, past and present, utterly to shame.
WOW This is amazing. 😀
incredible footage
Greatness from almost 50 years ago
She’s was so talented
The Kiss makes me so emotional. Brilliance. 9:08
Thanks for this treasure.
Thank you so much for this
Excellent, thanks!
le amo.
thank you for uploading
If any body should play the part of Judee in a biopic it should be Liz Phair.
liz is too old. Alana Haim would nail the role.
Judee’s words are like swords and horses from the Bronze Age. And from such a soft, gentle one
What a treasure of a video! Who took this? Thanks so much for sharing! I love that beginning where she makes the crowd laugh from the sound of the reverb coil. She’s great
Judee was living in Laurel Canyon at the same time as, The Byrds, Joni Mitchell, Mama Cass, Frank Zappa, CSNY and many others, but no-one talks about her in interviewee's in their later years. As far as I found out, she was a competition to many of them. Her abuse, and behavior might have been the reason why she was left in the cold... I don't know. Many of them were taking substances at that time. But it's strange that no-one mention her in latter interviews. Maybe both business, envy and competition kept her in the dark. It's a loss to the music world, and definitely a loss to a great artist.
the well known bane of insecure musicians, competition, envy ...compositionally speaking ,she outdid all of the pop singer songwriters of that time .Probably just too damn good .She was kind of like Harry Nilsson to me, in that tribe .R.I.P.dear angel .
She be an MKULTRA babe. Even all her occult experiences and psychopathic episodes didn’t put her off from Christ. From what I can tell. Why she is forgotten whereas the likes of sweet Joy Bang are forgotten by dint of covertly ritually murdered. Yours Zaire/SYear.
Any footage, however low quality, is very welcome, so thanks very much indeed. But why all the cutaways to photos of guitars and other photos? They are very off-putting.
Dang she could play some mean piano!
...*creeping suspicion that "Judee" was a moniker for a guy's name*
Hey ,thank you so much !!
How can I find more footage and details about her?
There are a couple of videos of her on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" recorded in 1973. An excellent Wikipedia entry about her life. Born 1944, Died 1979, at the age of 35. Way too soon.
It's me, I'm a reincarnation of Judy. I was born in 81 in Ireland.
Her story needs to be done
Damn
Was that a string snapping at the start?
There must be a way to bring her back somehow…
No way
one of the great singer-songwriters ever but wasn't given a chance by a hole geffen the dirty ____
