    I love the sea 🤗
Distraction by hummingbird is legit! We won't put our feeder out for a few weeks yet. Still snowing regularly here.
My grand parents' ranch always had a variety of owls. I used to sit our on a rock at the edge of the home pasture at night to see if I could catch sight of them.
My Grandpa was in the Navy so he may have picked it up there, but he used the term 'clicks' all the time.
Beautiful shells, beautiful smiles, beautiful scenes. Thank you for sharing it with us!

It’s good to hear from you Deea! Another lover of books, birds and dogs. 😊
Thanks for weighing in on clicks. I asked the question on Litsy also and over there the American respondents know it strictly in a military context (in movies and literature). It makes sense that someone formerly in the military would use it.

Hi Lindy, love the footage of the coast.
I am very interested in Landbridge so I am going to look for it.
Although I am not a native English speaker and don’t live in an Englis speaking country I ahve heard of clicks as a way to specify a distance. I think I have seen it in movies. Something military I think.

Hello Alina, thanks for weighing in on the usage of clicks. It solidifies the picture I’ve been getting: that it’s commonly used by the American military as well as by Canadians in general.
I think you will like Landbridge.

I love hummingbirds. We have a Mexican Olive tree that attracts them when it's blooming. What an Owl Knows sounds so interesting and Desert Queen looks dazzling!

Fascinating as always. Owls are amazing. Have seen some since moving to the country and hear many! 🦉 The illustrations in Desert Queen are beautiful! I’m reading a lot but my current favourite read is A Suitable Boy - enjoying our slow meander through that story.

Thanks Jack. Owl vocalization is so important because they are mostly active at night. I learned that musicians, because of their trained ears, have been the best at discovering new things about owl vocalizations.
I’m really enjoying A Suitable Boy too. Reading other books set in India add to the already rich experience.

Wow Lindy, your footage of Vancouver Island is so beautiful, stunning in fact! I could watch a whole video of such shots. I will look out for the Ackerman book on owls (it is available in the UK, so will try my library first), it sounded fascinating - I'd never heard of or seen the Elf owl before, or the other one you showed us with the big head, it surprises me that owls are the least studied raptors given how popular they are with most people. Never heard "Clicks" used in the way you described here on the east coast of England, can't speak for entire UK though. Have a great week! X

Lelly, thanks for contributing to my informal poll about clicks, and I’m glad you like the scenery footage. The reason owls weren’t studied as much as other raptors is because of their nocturnal nature. But humans have been fascinated by them for a long time. There’s an owl image in Chauvet Cave that was created 36,000 years ago!

This was such a wonderful delightful treat. You popped up in my feed for the first time, and I’m so glad. I haven’t heard of any of these books, and they’re all now on my ever-growing reading list.
Love all the bird references, and the beautiful video of the sea coast & forest (being in landlocked dry Utah, it just looks so magical). Is it weird I wish we were neighbors? I need to find a feminist bookclub (or really, any inclusive friends to be honest-a new acquaintance texted me some homophobic & racist memes a couple days ago thinking it would be funny, and it made me cry that people can still be so hateful & oblivious to the hurt that causes). Apologies for over sharing, but this video felt like a healing balm and reminder of the good in the world, so thank you so much. That bit of writing you shared from The Tiger Flu was just divine, so I think I’ll hunt down that title first. Appreciate you. Blessings.

What a lovely, heartfelt message. Thank you so much! I’m glad the RUclips algorithm was in our favour. There are many online book clubs now, so perhaps you can find a likeminded group that way. Have you asked about book clubs (online or in-person ones) at your local library or bookstore? Another possibility is to start a feminist book club yourself and to get the word out via your library or bookstore. In describing the kinds of books you propose, prospective members will know if the group is their kind of thing or not. Meanwhile, welcome to this corner of booktube, a place where I prioritize kindness. 🤗
