I can't think my childhood with out this beautiful people. I grown up drinking their cow and goat milk. Afar is great people with great history. It always aches my heart when I think of how they get disadvantaged and abandoned having contributed in our early histories of Ethiopia as well Africa(which named after them) as well Asia. That's the reason they have an unconditional love to their country. To see how mighty they were just look at the paintings on the walls of the Pyramids in Egypt, you find them as they are with their hair styles. They know what they contributed. One day will come that you outshine with your golden histories. Love you my Afar forever!!!
I am also proud of living with these gentle people. I walked day and night with my Afar guide to escape from Ethiopia, and on the way, I met many Afars with their weapons on their shoulders; they never did me harm, only talked to my guide and let us go, for that, I am forever grateful to the Afar people.
Funny thing is that you think you are different from the Afars. All people of Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti have the same history and the ancestry.
That was very cool to read made my day. I'm a 19 year old afar man from America never got to learn the deep history of my people or much of anything of that matter. I sometimes feel isolated from my culture and afar community meetups but I am trying to teach myself the native language and learn one thing I can say is Afars have always been peaceful from what my dad taught me we aren't aggressive people we are the opposite just fighting to keep land that we were on first. I wish you luck on your journeys my friend. I am genuinely happy to read what you wrote and your experience with the afar people.
