FWIW, i spent a lot of time in sweetwater's mixer page to cheaply get as many inputs as i could for my ever expanding synth rig. the behringer x2442 gives 8 mono/mic inputs and 4 stereo inputs. it also has internal effects and 3 aux sends for installing effects loops which can be blended in, in parallel to every input. once i ran out of inputs, i got a little xenix 1202fx which has 4 more mono inputs and 4 more stereo inputs. you can run the 1202 into the "2-track" input on the 2442 so it doesnt waste any inputs (unless you want to use the effects loops, then you must burn 2 inputs.) $359 +$99 = $459 for 8 sets of stereo inputs and 12 mono inputs. these mixers are very quiet too. my dream mixer is the mackie 3204VLZ4 , but it is like $1600. i have my original tired mackie vlz1604 as an emergency backup. it also has 4 aux sends for effects loops, just no stereo channels. IMO dont buy used mixers unless you know their history.. the jacks get stretched and all the pots and switches get noisy= neverending headaches and heartaches
I'm torn between the _TASCAM Model 12_ and the _Mackie ProFX_ . Heavily leaning towards the Mackie though, since I'm not playing band gigs yet and just currently need a mixer for my analog drum machine + hardware synths to connect to. Plus, Mackie is available at half the cost. I could always upgrade to the Model 12 at a later time when ready
That Flow 8 is typically $249. I just bought one and with the latest firmware update it is AWESOME!! I am a singing drummer and usually carry my own mics and cables. Even if the monitor mix coming back to me is just "blech", I will add an overhead, and a crunch mic down between kick and snare, and even with a "one knob" style compression, it makes a HUGE difference. Makes for a MUCH more enjoyable performance - WAY better than just barely being able to hear yourself, the band, etc. HUGE improvement over my small Mackie 802vlz4, in sound AND flexibility. 🤘🏻
It would be nice if someone made a rack mount summing mixer that has 1/4" inputs so you can directly input all your keyboards, guitars, and rhythm machines.
@@NURREDIN you do realize a “Summing mixer” and a line mixer are the same thing right? Hell any mixer is a summing mixer. That’s what a mixer does. Sums things…
Thank you very much for this video. You may have said it in the video, but my English is not good enough. That's why I wanted to ask in writing. I live stream on Twitch. I don't know if I should buy the Behringer Flow 8. What I'm wondering is this. When I use all these effects and digital audio enhancements, will I experience a latency when monitoring the audio? Latency in hearing myself prevents me from speaking fluently. Is it a suitable device for radio broadcasts on Twitch? I use Behringer x1222 analog mixer in my live broadcasts. You know, when I speak, I turn down the volume of the music with a fader. When I'm done speaking, I turn the music back up. Spotify music sound from my computer and my voice from my microphone go to the broadcast as a single stereo mix. In other words, when I add any digital effects to my microphone, my music sound is affected because they all go on the air as a mix. Whereas, I want to make sound improvements to my microphone input and music input separately. Do you think it would be a significant upgrade? Will this solve my problem? For this kind of solution, I normally have to use an expensive and large digital mixer like the Presonus StudioLive 16. And I'm looking for a more compact and cheaper solution. You can also suggest a different mixer. Thank you so much.

Hello : I have a little mixer question for ya. I have a small mixer for my live performance percussion playing. The mixer has fx but once you choose an effect, that’s what goes to all the channels and you can only control how much or how little. I need to put multi fx on all channels and on some of the channels, I need different fx than the other channels. How can I achieve this ? Is there a live performing mixer that can do this or do I need to chain pedals together and connect to the aux send of the mixer ? ( I need a small mixer that can handle my 6 mic inputs.) I would love to be able to put a simple reverb on say…my congas, but then a flanged wilder reverb on my timbale. Those are the kind of things I’m trying to achieve while playing live. Thanks for your help !

The usb making it to 4 out audio interface on the PreSonus StudioLive AR16c means it can only multitrack record 4x tracks right? While the Tascam usb audio interface function with 10 out allows for multitrack recording 10x tracks? The answer seems to be in my question but im just really confused after learning about mixer on youtube for many hours.... Dont want to get it wrong.
Hey there! For voiceover work, I generally lean more toward an interface opposed to a mixer. If you’re just going to be using one microphone at a time, any single channel interface is perfect for that application. I’ve copied a link here: www.sweetwater.com/c695--USB_Audio_Interfaces?params=eyJmYWNldCI6eyJBdmFpbGFiaWxpdHkiOlsiSW4gU3RvY2siXSwiU2ltdWx0YW5lb3VzIEkvTyI6WyIxIHggMyIsIjEgeCAyIl19fQ&sb=popular Of course, without digging deeper into exactly what you’ll be doing, it’s tough to say what’s going to work best for you. How does one engage the "compressor on every input channel" with the Mackie ProFx mixer? I was looking for a small format mixer with at least a "one knob" compression feature - but wanted better preamps/ gain structure than the Yamaha. I did not see any compression feature on the Mackie - what did I miss? Thanks for great and informative videos guys! 🤘🏻
I just watched Nick's rundown of the Version 3 of the Mackie Promix and see that they finally added a one knob style comp to the 1st 4 pre input ch. Thanks!! 👍🏻

I have the Tascam Model 12 and I love it! Built in multi track with great FX and analog controls… and the built in DI/instrument lines are awesome too
Although I think I might need the model 16 or 24 soon… I keep wanting to add more drums to my kit😂😁

You should make a video on interfaces & show off all different price points
I just needed 1 microphone in and 2 quarter inch ins to my Linux Daw. I picked up the Allen Heath Zed 6 mixer from Sweetwater. Clean clean clean clean
Most mixers give little thought to instrument inputs- the TASCAM seems to fit the bill.
