We think that Stoner/Doom is nothing more than good ol’ Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Progressive Rock, and Heavy Blues. What sets Stoner/Doom apart is the lack of commercial hype, auto-tuned generic riffs, quantized drums, and bland production that sounds like a bunch of Vanilla Sausage (Circle of Tone). Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, and even Prog didn’t die- they just went Underground!

SCOTT SPIERS, MA, LCAS, CCS is the founder and Editor-at-large for Clean and Sober Stoner and Monsterriff.com. He's a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and Clinical Supervisor in North Carolina. Scott has used music and Music Therapy in his clinical practice for over 18 years. He is also in long-term recovery from alcohol, cannabis, and methamphetamine.
