As is the case with Lux Æterna / Hit the Lights. One is about the lights going off signaling the start of a show and the other is about their music/shows being a guiding light for the fans. At least that's how I see it.
People act like pretty much every band doesn’t eventually start writing riffs that sound the same as stuff they’ve already done. All of them do that unless they’re exploring new genres - but when Metallica does that, people bitch about it! I think Rob Zombie said something like Sabbath has already written every metal riff, everyone else is just slowing it down or speeding it up or playing it backwards.
I dont care about riff recyclement but i would like them to have as good transitions from one part to the other as they are known for. I understand they cant do the same speed they were capable of back in the day, I get that they dont have the aggression, im completely fine with that, I just wish they had mid tempo quality gems like leper, harvester and such... (the majority on 72 is too long for no reason, almost every song has a really killer riff but instead of continue or structure the songs around them they just 'say a hello' with them for ten seconds and move on to a generic riff or insert a totally strange not so well fitting interlude and drag the song out, they should build upon the good riffs most of the songs as i said had plenty of room considering the length of em)
I personally think Inamorata drew more from Bleeding Me than Outlaw Torn. Outlaw Torn’s riff featured crunchy palm mutes, unlike inamorata. The whole “misery” thing, and most of those vocal similarities were likely intentional.
I'm happy someone else noticed this too. I think this was their point. Reflecting on their long career. At this point nostalgia is kicking in & this secretly might be their last album.
I love this album. Brings back memories from older albums, shows the road they went thru. I hear lot of Load in this album, which I adore as well. I know some people are upset about this album, but I just enjoy the Music
I dont know if OP did this to throw shade or what, but I found it funny because I was listening to the new album and at first didnt like it. Then after a lot of spins, when I started to love it, I realized it was BECAUSE of all these intentional callbacks that I like it.
One the greatest composers of our time John Williams has done scored at least one or more of our favorite movies in our lifetime and when you listen to each one of his movie scores you totally hear the same pattern of music, formula and notes. It’s his signature. Just like you can tell an artist paintings from his style or brush strokes. Metallica has their signature style and it sounds amazingly awesome even after all these years.
I like the similarities, İnamorato reminds me Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn which are my favourites from Load album. My friend of Misery is another epic song and l believe all the similarities are intentional. This album is 72 seasons of Metallica which brings memories from past. Just respect and embrace it. As a Metallica fan since 18 years of age now 48 l am happy to listen new songs from my favourite band. And l love this album. Long live Metallica 💛🖤
@@MetJamesK You can say that about most of their riffs. Cure, Slither, That Was Just Your Life, Here Comes Revenge, and a few of the new songs all use that mode. But the riff I'm talking about is literally Cure, even the drums and bass
well that's clearly why this album is already showing signs of great success. Every song the riffs however FEEL similar they maybe? CLEARLY different enough to stand on their own to ME! But if it gives people the feels of the songs you compared them to in this its a sure sign success for yet another album that will stand the test of time.. 72 Seasons is a GREAT album LOVE it more everyday was a BLAST to play bass on all 12 already... Thanks for the mash up \m/ #HornsUp \m/
Crown of barb wire and Slither from reload during the solos on both songs. Shadows follows and Atlas Rise have similar riffs. Some guitar solos on inamoratta are simmilar to the ones on Bleeding me from lOaD.
I will give you Inamorata/My Friend of Misery and Broken Beaten & Scarred, those are definitely intentional call backs lyrically. But most of the guitar “similarities” are a stretch. It’s just Metallica being Metallica, no shit their style is going to sound like their style. Imagine if you did this for Iron Maiden, half their discography is the same galloping/triplet rhythm.
“hey bro, lemme copy your homework. i’ll just change it up a bit”. 🤣🤣🤣 all jokes aside, these subtle moments are homage to their older classics. 1:42 was my personal favorite
Some things I noticed: Lux Aeterna 2:08 is almost completely lifted from Hit The Lights 2:33 Vocal melody / cadence from Room of Mirrors is almost the same as the vocal in Ride The Lightning
I remember thinking as soon as the first single dropped, it oozed Kill ‘Em All energy. A lot of the solo work on here, specifically the tap parts, are straight out of that playbook
The vocals on Room of Mirrors are very similar to ride the lightning in the beginning. Also, one of the riffs in that song sounds like hit the lights A LOT.
He didn't put this on here but Lux Æterna is basically hit the lights but instead "Hit the lights!" It's "Lux Æterna!" I mean the riffage is similar and the lyrics are definitely similar on both songs, But I think it's awesome I mean it's literally my favourite song on 72 seasons it's the OG song of 72 seasons.
Too far gone main riff sounds like no remorse 2.0 lol. Surprised that wasn't in here *edit* I re watched the video and sure enough it was in there haha.
OK SO IS ROOM OF MIRRORS 12 SECONDS IN IT HAS THE EXACT DRUMMING AS A PART FROM SPIT OUT THE BONE IN THE HARDWIRED TO SELF DESTRUCT ALBUM LISTEN TO THE WHOLE SONG OF SPIT OUT THE BONE THEN GO TO ROOM OF MIRRORS 12 SECONDS IN JUST LISTEN IM RIGHT.
The first riff is from “Sleepwalk My Life Away,” not “Shadows Follow.”
Fuck, you're right
I don't blame him. I find it hard to tell the songs apart in this album.
@@PewciSlayer The one drawback of being a Metallica fan is that his songs all sound identical. I still like it, tho.
And it reminds me more of 2x4 than Enter Sandman
And 3 songs start with S
The Inamorata / My Friend of Misery connection is definitely intentional
Seriously I thought it was obvious but apparently not
@@tommygalusha ye some ppl are stupid
sounds like Outlaw Torn too
Also got sabbath a national acrobat vibe
As is the case with Lux Æterna / Hit the Lights.

They've been having similar riffs since 'death magnetic' I'm fine with it, just appreciate the boys still being around and creating music for us!
People act like pretty much every band doesn’t eventually start writing riffs that sound the same as stuff they’ve already done. All of them do that unless they’re exploring new genres - but when Metallica does that, people bitch about it!

For me is was Enter Sandman and Slither
ikr! People are too picky with Metallica at this point. This maybe their last album, they should enjoy it more tha judge
They still sound good as f live.

I think the "broken, beat and scarred" lyric is a deliberate reference. Hetfield does that some times.
Just like the Damage, Inc/St Anger use of Fuck it all and Fucking no regrets!
"Fade To Black" in Memory Remains
"off to never never land" in king nothing
Bred to kill ‘em all in Disposable Heroes
“Full speed or nothing” motorbreath/Lux
Lets just all be happy and grateful these legends are still making music ..when theyre gone theyre gone
@John Wheeler As it should be.
@John Wheeler This is what we call "passando pano".
They've been gone since 1991.

For me it was a bit of Bleeding Me and Fixxxer
Broken beat and scarred was def a throwback line
Room of broken beat & scarreds
I'm happy someone else noticed this too. I think this was their point. Reflecting on their long career. At this point nostalgia is kicking in & this secretly might be their last album.
I love this album. Brings back memories from older albums, shows the road they went thru. I hear lot of Load in this album, which I adore as well. I know some people are upset about this album, but I just enjoy the Music
I only hear load/reload on 2 songs
I dont know if OP did this to throw shade or what, but I found it funny because I was listening to the new album and at first didnt like it. Then after a lot of spins, when I started to love it, I realized it was BECAUSE of all these intentional callbacks that I like it.
The riff in 72 seasons after the drums kick in, about 30 seconds in reminds me so much of the bridge/breakdown of Blackened.
Intro is similar to Whiplash verse riff

The intro in too far gone is basically the chorus riff in blackened once you hear you cant unhear it
inamorata is my favorite metallica song i love it so much and it makes me feel like turning my life around and fixing it every time i hear it 🫶
Outstanding inamorata is definitely my fav track on the album
Only a true fan could relate these that fast
I’ve been lucky enough to see them twice but I gotta go see them again
i also noticed hit the lights and lux aeterna had a really similar riff
Holier than Thou...congrats, you figured out Kirk has an affinity for the wah pedal. Shocker.
I expected the bit for 72 seasons to reference "Broken, Beaten, Scarred"
Yes it does. I heard " The Four Horsemen" in some parts.😊
I can't remember the song cuz I'm still learning the album but there is a solo that is directly lifted from The 4 Horseman
@@chico4105 Too Far Gone?

Room of mirrors sounds kinda like trapped under ice
Yea, I noticed that too, was looking for this comment
When I was at the theater I immediately was like "this is No Remorse 2.0" Lol
Also the beggining of both Confusion and Shadows Follow, are somehow similar for me
"Forgive me" part in unforgiven 3 with Inamorata
Lords OF Summer was released in 2014 ;)
I think that it's on Too Far Gone that the solo starts basically the same as the last solo in The Four Horsemen
Also that part of Too Far Gone it's similar to The Four Horsemen, like a mix with No Remorse
"Self-references"... 🤭 You're so kind. That's nice of you.
Inamorata is a mix of to my favorite songs from load and reload.
No one has pointed out that around 3:35 in Crown of Barbed Wire is a very obvious homage to Cure
It's also literally the same exact as Enter Sandman's main riff just moved down a string.
@@MetJamesK You can say that about most of their riffs. Cure, Slither, That Was Just Your Life, Here Comes Revenge, and a few of the new songs all use that mode. But the riff I'm talking about is literally Cure, even the drums and bass
You forgot mirror Rooms have also the same chorus of disposable heroes, very similar very cool
oh yeah, nice spot!
You can find the sandman riff on just about every album after black album
That riff at 1:55 in Inamorata sounds exactly like Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz.
I just heard No Remorse almost constantly.
This whole video could have been clips of Kirk's solos from the last 3 albums.

One thing this does prove? How fukn good the Black album sounded.
The outro to 'Inamorata' I think is an homage to 'Halo On Fire'. I mean, just listen to it.
Anyone notice the little 'batman tune doodle at 4.26 4.32 4.37 on shadows follow 😂
YES!!! I thought that the first time I heard it! Nana nana nana nana nana nana. Glad I’m not the only one that thought that.
Crown of barb wire and Slither from reload during the solos on both songs. Shadows follows and Atlas Rise have similar riffs. Some guitar solos on inamoratta are simmilar to the ones on Bleeding me from lOaD.
holier than thou and lords of summer was stretching, but the lyrics are far more unimaginative

Inamorata is my favorite song of this new album
Plenty of member berries on the latest album. The beginning of Screaming Suicide sounds like Creeping Death.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed all these... Lol
I think toor far gone had a part of Blitzkrieg too
the album should be called 90s metallica in a nutshell
The outro of Inamorata has somewhat the same structure as Fade To Black.
Some things I noticed:
Lux Aeterna 2:08 is almost completely lifted from Hit The Lights 2:33

Yes, I definitely knew it. Chasing light is just slower version of HTT
I remember thinking as soon as the first single dropped, it oozed Kill ‘Em All energy. A lot of the solo work on here, specifically the tap parts, are straight out of that playbook
I'd say all of the similarities are intentional, it is supposed to be a "throwback" album after all.
chasing light sounds more like harvester of sorrow than holier than thou
"72 Seasons" and "Hardwired" main riff
The middle section of crown of barbed wire has the riff from the song Cure in it and its even roughly at the same tempo
*files this under "dumb clickbait time waster" and moves to the next video
They even said in interviews it's paying homage to their NWOBHM and allusions to their previous work (The Police did this too, they aren't the first)
am i the only one who noticed the similarity between ‘room of mirrors’ and ‘ride the lightning?’
This part of You Must Burn reminds me more of Harvester of Sorrow.
Also Screaming suicide is basically Prince Charming 2
Room Of Mirrors main riff sounds like Trapped Under Ice main riff
The verses from Sleepwalk My Life Away and Seek & Destroy are almost identical
Shadows Follow sounds like the riff from Hell And Back
The vocals on Room of Mirrors are very similar to ride the lightning in the beginning. Also, one of the riffs in that song sounds like hit the lights A LOT.
Too far gone and no remorse is a good combination
72 season intro: pulp fiction theme
These aren't accidents.
Kind of a neat concept after you've done everything.
Did anyone else hear the Batman theme from 1966 in a part of shadows follow ??
The room of mirror part reminds me more of ride the lightning
He didn't put this on here but Lux Æterna is basically hit the lights but instead "Hit the lights!" It's "Lux Æterna!" Too far gone main riff sounds like no remorse 2.0 lol. Surprised that wasn't in here
*edit*
I re watched the video and sure enough it was in there haha.
Inamorata should be called My friend of misery 2
The intro of screaming suicide is similar to ain't my bitch intro
The You must burn one with the Sad but true one is like 98% close
The you must burn one reminds me more of harvester than sad but true ngl
It's very usual for almost all the bands that keep playing more than 20 years. Repeating oneself is just fine. The matter is having a self to repeat.
AC/DC made a career out of it.
@@bobwire2414 laughing my guts off😂😂😂
Room of Mirrors sounds more like Ride the Lightning than Lords of Summer.
It’s common for bands on later album to use a prior riff and change it a tad bit
They obviously used it as a reminiscing of the past
Bridge riff from shadows follow sounds alot like battery riff they dont play live
Not sure if it's just me but around 5:30 in Inamorata sounds a lot like 6:00 from The End Of The Line
That Chasing Light Riff = Through the Never + Holier Than Thou
for sure the broken beat and scarred part was intentional
I like that they don’t try to be like other bands except their own selves
This first inamorata riff sound like corrosion of conformity
Dude the room of mirrors verse is like ride the lightning
literally the exact same notes from too far gone in blackened…
That's their Signature style, when you hear them you say That's my "METALLICA" ❤
Now I'm changing album name to Metallica - Back to all previous
i would have said Chasing light sounded more like Harvester of sorrow than Holier than thou
What do you think about Crown of Barbed Wire and King Nothing?
Sleepwalk My Life Away also reminds me of King Nothing from Load album.
Tbh idk if I dont love this album, can't ask that much from no one, as long as they put out something listenable and a few good songs I'm satisfied
0:16 un poco mas a Harvester of Sorrow
