It frequently reloads itself, particularly when multiple files are opened in the editor, leading to lags and sometimes even self-reloading. IDX is literally VSCode for the web with a gemini plugin. That's it... not sure what is exactly revolutionary here. Copilots been around for ages and we all know how well Gemini performs compared to OpenAI to this day

hard disagree, web apps are useful for certain people. If i wanted to, I could pull up with an android tablet and connect an external keyboard and it would still have all the functionality of desktop coding because of the fact that I can access IDX from almost any browser, and still have tools like node, bash…
As a programmer this seems pretty interesting and might try it out but never gonna make the switch from my current editor cause I can already see IDX getting discontinued not even 6 months after launch
In the near future after they got all the data they need : Oops your library can't be larger than 1Go, you have to upgrade to premium it's just 50$ a month or you can't see your code anymore.
I'm now using Chromebook for development, it's a life change. And Chromebooks are so efficient I have so much battery life and low consume This is how the future looks like

Only reason anybody would use this, is if it does what Roblox does. It should have a "plug and play" functionality to it. By default it should FORCE you into using a certain paradigm. It should force standardization. It shouldn't require a whole afternoon to setup your build environment. Screw compatibility. People will only use this if it replaces garbage like cmake and standardizes everything while making it easy to use. Eitherway Im actually kinda hyped for this.

Why would that be a problem? If your code is pushed to a remote repository, you can just switch to VS Code.

well idx is based on Code OSS, not that different from vscode
