awesome video, considering that there are not many explanatory videos about embroidering silk, this video has been so helpful to me. I have one question and would appreciate if you can help me. What kind of thread and brand (if possible) would you recommend to embroider silk satin?
Great video! When you have puckers can you put another small piece of stabilizer under the design after you see the first piece pucker or is it better to steam it with the iron?
Will all this work if you are hand embroidering? Also would everything be the same using Aari embroidery techniques? I'm getting ready to embroider on satin. More specifically stage clothes. Using the AAri technique, would it be better to embroider the design on a seperate material, then sew that onto satin? If so what material do you suggest? To give you an idea of what I'm talking about I want to hand embroider Jimmy Page's white poppy jacket for a friend of mine.
It’s funny. I am actually getting ready to do the same thing myself. I am going to try to do Aari work on a silk brocade skirt for a stage costume. I’m going to attempt to do it this way. I see that it’s been a year since you commented this. I would be grateful to know how your project went, and possibly if you have any tips.
What I would like to do is buy silk fabric. Then I want to make that into a scarf and machine a beautiful design on it. Is that possible? I have a 4x4 embroidery hoop.
you can hand embroidery an applique and attach around the edges - or hand embroider directly on the jacket, just be sure to hide your thread tails. If you are not going to take the jacket apart in order to get stabilizer on the back side you might want to embroider a separate piece of fabric and then attach to the jacket - aka applique
I was told that with sticky-back stabilizers, the glue residue gums the needle and gets dragged by the thread into the machine. Would you still recommend using sticky-backs?
I have not found that, but there is a new needle out by Schmetz that is a non-stick needle - it glides through the sticky back and any fusible without gumming up the needle. Try that if you have issues
I'm not sure what's going on with my project but I'm embroidering onto satin fabric and about 30 seconds into it the upper thread will come out of the needle or it'll rip. I'm using a 75/11 size needle. Is this a needle issue or is it something else?
I’m a little disappointed in this video, you do NOT want to use steam when you are “pressing” an embroidery, you do not “iron” an embroidery, you only “press” it.
Love the tip about the sticky patches. Wish I had thought of that with my bath towels!
I'm from Costa Rica, and and great full. I love this ❤

YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!
thank you angela. this is exactly what dream machine owners need.
Great to hear Mary :)
This is such a great and helpful video. Thanks so much!! You've saved me money and tears lol
You are so welcome!
You mentioned "spraying it" a few times but I never heard with what to spray it. Could you tell or show us what to spray, please?
I love that fabric!
Love your demo, what size needle did you use?
Which embroidery machine are you using ?
thank you.
Great tips. Enjoying your 30 day series!
thanks so much Linda :)

I would probably add more stabilizer if I notice right away :)
love it love it Angela thank you
Great tips, oh this gets my "wheels" churning!
QUESTION: would I embroider my fabric before or after I cut out my garment pieces?
Karen, you can do either - quite often I embroider after I cut the garment. Then I can line up the design on the garment for precise placement

I am not familiar with the Aari technique, let me know how it works :)

Hi Angela!
What sticky stabilizer did you use in your video?

I am not sure what I am using in this video, but here is one of my favorite sticky back tearaways amzn.to/2A5CPzJ
Thank you for sharing! :)
That's awesome to know! Thank you :)
What is the best font to do a name on a satin robe?
It really doesn't matter, just don't go too wide and thick of a font or the fabric will look funny and could pucker

check your thread and make sure it's not catching on the edge of the spool - I have had that happen on narrow thread spools
What is the name of the paper
❤️
I would think you can still use water soluble stabilizer and hand wash? That’s who I wash my silks-not in a washing machine…
you can use washaway if you plan on washing your silks - just make sure there is enough stabilization for whatever design you choose :)
