it amazes me what people can do in their own homes. I feel like a kid watching a "how its made video". I've taken for granted that big factories can do all kinds of shit, but seeing a dude do this on realistic tools is super cool
How did you know what thickness of copper you need to fill the insert? I'm interested in this as a summer project so I'm curious how you would kow that before pulling out the insert. Thank you in advance!
@@bradreef this will be my first copper face, seems like a popular mod on these odyssesys though, so I have high hopes Can't wait to see how the copper plating goes!
late to the party but words of advice.. invest in a portable bandsaw, and build yourself a mount for that belt sander for things like that. good way to get a finger sucked into it.
I have been playing a Cameron Detour conversion with a copper face for a few years. It gives you a nice soft face that is great for fast green. Good luck with your Nike.
Tell me you’re scared of sparks without telling me you’re scared of sparks… nah I was scared before myself after a few spark showers you realize it won’t burn you

Thank you, i love working on clubs in the winter and i dont have a crazy shop. The more tools the easier though.
very creative with the tools you have. I'll just go and buy the insert for a few bucks.
Thx for the video definitely gonna try this on mine looks good and I’d love the extra weight

I can't remember if I did know prior. I believe I pulled it and measured it. You could always ask on golfwrx.con
Great job man! I really want to start doing a lot of this stuff this summer! Keep it up!
Thank you. I mostly do it before the season starts. Or if a friend asks for something.
Machinist dye and a scribe will help when making metal parts, also some good hand files are invaluable when doing tiny adjustments.
Any suggestions to order this part?
I just measured the insert thickness and bought a flat copper bar on eBay
Just did this with a Versa 9, did the whole thing with files and I was surprised how quick it was, really looking forward to testing
I love it. I have always loved copper putter faces and play a detour conversion. Im planning to copper plate a putter this weekend.

@@bradreef Did you make the detour insert as well or purchase it? I'm so hesitant to do anything to a putter with value
Where did you get the copper piece?
Ebay.
Search "copper bar 1/4" or any metal. Typically for knife making
Just wondering how much extra weight does the new add to the head
I will try and weight an insert vs the original and update
About 25-30grams
@@michaelmaness2646 thank you. I am slow in getting back on this

Do you know anyone that can mill copper inserts?
I havent done anything lately. There are a few putter refinishers on instagram that do it.

I have the exact putter!!! Looks awesome!! Can you make another one?
Odyssey 7 is a great putter, tons of tour play and underrated.
Great video! Where did you get your copper bar stock?
Ebay is easiest
Thank you for you response. Have you ever did any wood face inserts?
@@zanefoster9352 i have not. But i habe seen wood putters, carbon fiber, stainless, ect
Thanks I look forward to seeing more videos.
👍👍💯
I gotta do this with my Nike putter

How thick is the insert? How thick of copper bar did you get?
I mention early in the video. I/4 inch i believe
Brilliant job but think Drexel be great tool for you .
Dremel
I am about to do another one. Ill try a few tool options.
I got seasick.

This is more of a video, on how not to use tools. You could’ve gotten a more consistent edge with a file.
I would grind face make it look cooler
If you have access to a milling machine. You could definitely add milling marks. Its all preference.
Dremel lot easier
Good thought. What tip?
