lol the WHOLE point of the terrapin is its armor, THIS is the front line extraction vehicle. Look at that landing gear, its made to slam into the ground quick fast and in a hurry, take the hits while theyre on the ground, and fuck off quick with the vtol.
dude, that cool aid hit hard. Extract from frontline? You die and respawn. youre RPGing way too hard in your own mind in a game that couldnt care less about it.
The terrapin was originally a dropship in the lore. Having a version with two side doors and lining the walls with jump seats would have been a lot more fun than another ambulance ship.
This game perpetually baffles me! They have ships specialised for specific types of gameplay... But yet, actually game play for specific types of ships oftentimes doesn't even exist! 🤯 Anyway... I'm just glad to be a chilled neutral, sitting on the fence...😎 Watching people take chunks out of each other over this game! I feel like some kind of Human Zoologist 😊
Cutty red also has a long range radar and a search light in place of the top turret. Co-pilots seat operates the pretty powerful search light which is mounted on top of the radar unit and it spins 360 degrees ;)
This is exactly why I bought the terrapin medic. For some reason I love the original terrapin and have always had one since I began playing, this came out, melted og terrapin and bought this. For me the two main advantages are locking cockpit door and t2 medical bed. Yes, if you get too banged up you can always backspace and respawn in a c8r or cutty red, some of us don't play like that. Having a logout bed is nice but not what all of us look for all the time. Hell I am thinking of making my Polaris my daily driver, log out beds and t2 infirmary.
@wizardonthejob You can do it at much further range if you backspace to it or can heal level 2 injuries, that's the difference. As we move forward and the death degradation starts, then backspacing will not be the best option. In addition to the Hull HP, the Terrapin has twice the shields of the Cutty Red and much more than the Pisces. It's very focused on what it does, and is expensive but will be in game eventually. The heavy armor eventually will make the Terrapin resistant to many guns also.
As soon as you can respawn in a bed, the level of the bed makes no difference. If you get an injury the bed cant heal (broken leg), then backspace and respawn in the bed. The cutty red is best ship in the group. It's my daily driver for all bounty and bunker missions. Now if they remove the ability to respawn in low tier beds, THEN, the terrapin becomes more valuable.
People always speak of the terrapin medical and other medical ship like its a solo player ship, its a org ship like EVERY SINGLE medical ship, the terrapin is a frontline rescue ship, a CASEVAC, not a simple ambulance like the cutty red or the p8r. you can spray the enemy infantry with 2 gatling before landing to aid ur team on the ground and get them aboard. its litteraly a HH-60W jolly green II with a sht ton of armor. get down quickly, get out quickly. by the time you get down with the cutty red you'll get the engines blown off in 5sec by a mk2 or a random dude on the ground with a railgun or missile launcher, the terrapin can tank it
first: I think there should be an option in this game to buy supplies for your ships, if they have the internal capacity for it ( just like the CR8 ) or a supply box like in sea of thieves. Second: The terrapin should be like a frontline medi-evac ship, if they want to mantain the size, put more guns on it ( a manned turret or just more armament like missles), if not they should make it a bit bigger so it fits at least 2 ( better 3) medbeds. because right now its just a big Mule that cant carry anything. I like the concept and how it looks but they need to take in account how the ships are gonna be used and wich are the direkt competitors for that ship.
Thanks for the video I decided to wait for the Apollo because it seemed to combine the most important parts of the Cutlass Red and the Terrapin Medical together. Red offers space for supplies and is more capable in a fight. Medical offers toughness and stealth and tier2 bed. I think Apollo offers toughness and space for supplies, as well as top tier bed and drones for rescue. With the drones I suspect the Apollo will be better at extracting someone injured from a hot zone … and doing medical missions. Or just take a . For now I will keep my C8R ;)
The size 2 quantum drive and docking collars kinda make the Red beat out the Terrapin even without looking at the armaments or beds.. love how the Terrapin looks.. Wish it got more love, seems to be the Anvil MO.
You said exactly what I was thinking when I took a look at the Terrapin. I bought the Cutty Red specifically for bunker missions etc. The C8R is a fantastic little ship that I have been using a lot especially after a wipe. I usually put 2, 1 SCU containers in it. One for spare armor, weapons, and ammo in case of re-spawn and one to collect guns and armor from the bunkers.
The ships point likely will be stealth. Its a ship that can slide into areqs ubdetected and act as a forward field hospital. Or in a group of terrapins as they get close to a target abd drop people off.
People complaining about not being able to log out in it, it’s an ambulance people, it ain’t meant to go camping. You go out from a base or a mothership, put in a shift and go home.
Yep! Cutlass Red: Two med beds, 12 SCU cargo, docking hatches, much more guns, LOG BEDS. Half the price of the Terrapin. Medical Terrapin: One med bed. To be fair, the Terrapin has a shit ton of HP and a smaller cross section but that's about all. I like the Terrapin design a lot but the advantages of the Cutty Red are very clear.
i have to disagree on this one i ,have medical terrepin for a daily and ill rather be in terrepin before ill be in the other 2 ,and it have a tier 2 bed and its a tank (4.8*the hp of the cutles red and it have better shields then the original terrepin with faster rechard rate) ill survive everything in the verse and i do the Save Stanton protect the haulers mission where im against 10 to 15 ships still coming out victorious 💪🏻 the C8R you sneeze then your F***king dead, the cutter is a last min slapped together ship it doesn't even look like a medical ship inside 😂😂 it comes from Grimex with dirty needles and bandages😂😂
Costs near the same price as an Apollo. No one rarely sends med beacons, no proper medical gameplay missions, no bed to logout. The ship is basically useless other than using it as a respawn point but even then there are cheaper options.
Never forget there is first cool and second cool. First kind of cool is functionality, capabilities, advantage of this over that, measurable and quantifiable. Then there is second cool and that is quite simply subjective, something that you just like. It might not be the best at something but for whatever personal reasons you have, it just scratches and itch for you. I have always liked the terrapin, I don't know why, i just have. This came out, melted og terrapin and bought this one. For me and the way i play it just makes more sense. The best thing about second kind of cool, you dont have to justify it to anyone. You just liked it or it just makes sense to you and at the end if the day, that is all that matters because you are the one buying it and flying it. For me it is the terrapin asthetic and performance, the t2 medbed, and the locking cockpit door. It certainly looks like you can put several 1 or 2 scu boxes in there if you wanted.
I can't remember but the Terrapin has very low sigantures making it a good stealth ship. So tier 2 bed, hull health, armour and able to go stealth. Still I wish it did have a bed to log out of.

I can't wait for the usual nerfs to drop in on the Terrapin which is usually not very long after sales have concluded (within 3 to 6 months top)? Well, so much wrong here. The reason the Terrapin Medical doesn't make sense to you is you don't understand where these three ships stand. The C8R Pisces is a shuttlecraft meant to operate from a ship into safe areas that have very limited landing space. Any weapons fire will rip it to shreads, and it has little range. The Cutlass Red is a full starship with larger capacity for patients and crew, the ability to fight, and the cargo room to operate for long periods on its own, but again, it is designed to operate in mostly safe areas and will get cut to pieces under fire. Both of these are only for treatment of minor injuries and stabilization. Neither will have respawn capability in the future. The Terrapin Medic is a short-duration ship that, like the C8R, is meant to operate from a base or ship and for limited duration missions. Unlike either the C8R or Cutlass Red, it is heavily armored to be able to ignore most small ship and ground weapons, and its medical bed is capable of treating serious wounds the other two cannot treat. It remains to be seen if it will retain respawn capabilities, but likely not once T1 beds come online. Still the Terrapin Medic is meant to go where neither the Cutlass Red or C8R could survive going and get the patient out alive. And that is what you are missing in this review. Bottom line: all three ships are meant for different purposes and are built with those in mind. The Terrapin Medic is a more capable medical care ship that is also able to survive direct ground combat situations where the other two would be destroyed, and that is the whole point of it. If you intend to operate in safer areas, treat less serious injuries, or engage in long-duration missions, then yes, other ships will do a better job, but none of them will do what the Terrapin Medic is designed for better.
Well I can see why you dont see any reason with it. Its because lack of game mechanics though. This ship needs actual armor not the HP they have now, and actual environmental hazards to come in to its play. When that comes though this ship will be buyable in game, witch means unless you want the LTI no need to buy this now.

How do you extract the patient you have started surgery on? And 2nd when you open up the ship, all air inside the ship would get sucked out. 3rd where do the medical staff strap in if in combat.?

Usually people who have no understanding of military operations are confused by certain ships. This is Rescue under fire, the C8R is not for that and not even the Cutty red. Imagine being in the field and you have an injured person behind enemy lines, are you driving the ambulance in there or the tank converted into a medical evacuation vehicle? People who have actually been in combat are better suited to explain military ships, stick to Origin or some shit.
One thing i think this design is really lacking is a secondary seat of some kind. In your scenario, injured player will be healed in 30 seconds or so. Then the player has to lay in the bed for a few minutes until the ship gets back planet side. Staring at the healing screens doesn't sound fun to me.

One thing i think this design is really lacking is a secondary seat of some kind. In your scenario, injured player will be healed in 30 seconds or so. Then the player has to lay in the bed for a few minutes until the ship gets back planet side. Staring at the healing screens doesn't sound fun to me.
i got it and yeah it's not good. lol back to the cutty red i go
All you do is spread salt and complain. Makes no sense!!! Waggggghhhhhh! *Waluigi sounds*
hahahaa you're poor
lol, no, you´re poor if you think having $200 to spend on a game changes your financial status.😅
