DeMatha Gets Payback on SSSA in DeMatha Christmas Classic Championship 12/29/19

SSSA beat DeMatha three times in DeMatha's Summer League, including in a Summer League Championship showdown. However, tonight DeMatha avenged those losses, getting a 72-63 win over the Saints. In the first half, DeMatha was in firm control with Earl Timberlake shouldering the load, pouring in 13 points and giving his team a 9 point lead at the break. In the second half, with Timberlake battling foul trouble, DeMatha leaned on their other All-American, Hunter Dickinson, who had a 14 point second half and a handful of blocks in the paint. DeMatha would lead by as many 17, but the Saints' Jamal Barnes (game-high 23 pts) and Jared Cross (19 pts) helped mount a comeback, cutting their deficit as small as 4 at a point. Despite the Saints' effort, the Stags weathered the storm and found a way to hold the Saints off.
