This album is the second of three Grammys he got... the harmonising is SUBLIME... he had the GREATEST MUSCIANS / SINGERS... this sends SHIVERS down my spine ... quoted from TERRY BLACKWOOD who worked with him from 69-71 .. just a few weeks ago .. (he has never heard a greater voice as ELVIS' he's not wrong.. FACT mid seventies there was a little disabled girl in her wheelchair at the front at one of his concerts ... he took a very EXSPENIVE RING of his finger n gave it to her !!!
ELVIS sang every genre, but his GOSPEL songs are my favorite! I absolutely love him! I discovered him when I was 4 years old. My Mother was a big ELVIS fan! I am from the same area of Mississippi as he was. Well, actually about 6 miles from Tupelo, but he was a very big deal in our household when I was growing up. There will never be another person with the spectacular talent that he had! He was WONDERFUL from top to bottom, inside and out, he was glorious!!! He was so extremely handsome and so very charismatic! And when he sang Gospel, you truely felt the HOLY SPIRIT! I would appreciate it if you would play "I BELIEVE". It is one of my favorite Gospel songs that he sang, and man did he ever sing Gospel! You could feel his love for GOD in every Gospel song that he sang! Thank you so much for keeping THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL alive! GREAT REACTION, AS ALWAYS!

James I just watched this video of Elvis and best friend Sam Bell where Elvis was six to 13 yrs old they would go to church and when the older people would get up and dance and sing Elvis was the only child that got up there and danced and sang the hymns this man felt the music in his body that's why I felt that Elvis was so unique

He was very young when he recorded it and of ALL of the GOSPEL songs that he sang, it is one of the very best! There are two different versions of the song...one is with a FANTASTIC orchestra, and one rendition is only with a piano. I can't decide which version I like best, they are both SPECTACULAR!!! Also, "Crying In The Chapel" is the most GLORIOUS song that he ever sang...Gospel or otherwise! It actually went to #2 on most AMERICAN

Hi James. You really echo how I feel when I hear him sing gospel. The thing is, he was not singing these songs as part of his job. Rock n roll was the commercial element of his voice/performances but gospel and spiritual music was his life blood - his backing vocalists were all gospel singers or classically trained. He would sing gospel for hours with them to relax after his concerts. If you want to hear Elvis in a really personal and stripped back gospel performance which is literally him praying to his maker, listen to An Evening Prayer. Even if it's just for you to listen to rather than reacting to. It is about as close to Elvis's spirit as we"ll ever get. Ps it's rather short ( under 2 mins) but needs to be listened to up loud and with no distractions x
