- Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre went after Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland for painting a rosy picture of Canada's economic situation. “So she tells Canadians that they've never had it so good. She's out of touch and Canadians are out of money,” he said. Freeland shot back by reminding the Conservative leader he suggested during his leadership race Canadians could “opt out of inflation” by investing in cryptocurrencies, while Poilievre mocked Freeland for saying she had cut her family’s Disney+ subscription to save money.

financal collapses like these are both really really really bad for people at retirement age and really really really good for people who are still early on in their life. Older people, espeically once they retire should be looking to put their money into something a lot lot more stable than the stock market as something like 08 could abslutely cripple them, whereas for me, I was able to put in over a grand in that year during the massive collapse (in america, i do not know if there was a more recent one in canada) and it grew tons and tons more than the other years I have put in. (comparitively, its not tracked seperately by any means but the amount of shares I could buy with that money was much much much more than any other year)
This year I am looking at my mutual fund account sitting at -28% which would be abslutely crippling if i were 60+ and planning to retire, but im not, I have many good years left to work, so this year im doubling the amount I usually put in, tightening my belt more than id have if i just rode out the inflation and put the usual amount in, and in 20+ years when i plan to retire, that money I put away this year will be worth so much more. When I retire I plan on moving most of my investments over to something stuptidly stable like CD's or gold. Betting on a company to do better year after year is unsustainable, betting that the strongest economy in the world can constantly pay out 3.5% a year is

I bought a carton of heavy wipping cream for 13 bucks in the midwest, the fucking cow capital of the world. FYI Freeland... if Canada and the US diverted funds to where they should have gone then those interest rates wouldn't have risen the way they did and we would all be rolling in digital currency.(almost seems like you were counting on us selling our crypto to bail you and the banks out) I could go on for days about how badly money is allocated by our current government, which is why for the 1st time I'll be voting conservative. I might not agree with all their ideations but at the end of the day they're the only unified party that's going to get anything done in the current state of the world. I don't care about the social programs put forward by the liberal party because money is still being allocated irresponsibly.(I was working and having the most financially stable time of my life, yet i still received $1000 benefit from tax payers money) I don't see the conservative party going back on or cutting back on successful social programs. All i see them doing is auditing the whole system and finding inefficient places that could be improved or defunded all together. Last note let's release some carbon if we're paying for it anyways, at least that way we'll have funding for renewables moving forward. Freeland is using Poilievre’s support of crypto to make a classic strawman argument. Poilievre never suggested anyone invest in crypto - and certainly not their life savings! He just made statements in support of crypto currencies, that he would like to see them normalized (rather than regulated into non-existence), and that they help decentralize the monetary system and reduce the influence of central bankers.
The fact that we all know she makes over $200 K a year not to mention whatever she writes off on her travel/buisness trips..... She really thinks we believe her when she said she cut a subscription thats less than $20 a month to save money. 🤦🏼 Not to mention most people with that subscription have it for their kids. BTC has enjoyed an average of 200% gains year over year since its inception. That will not change. For those that understand cryptocurrency markets, this past year has been an amazing opportunity to accumulate more assets and simply hold them until the next wave of upside movement happens.

Rising interest rates are making life hard for businesses as their revenue cannot support their expenses. Once businesses start going bankrupt, inflation and shortages will only get worse.
