- What to do in Torshavn? Torshavn is probably the coziest capital you have ever seen but that doesn't mean there isn't much to do. On my first day on the Faroe Islands I explore Torshavn and share my favorite spots in the city. I also have a first hike around the area of Sandavagur on Vagar island.

Most things are closed on Sundays by law. That's why the city is so deserted. :)
My father used to be the bell-ringer in that pyramid church (Vesturkirkjan). We live in Denmark now, though. :)

What rates you got a car from your hotel ...what's the name of the hostel?
The name of the first hostel was Giljanes. I don’t know if they still have cars for hire. It was around 700-800 Euros per week.
I got curious of the islands after watching their National Football Team

@@timontravels I must stand corrected. SORRY if my assumption about your nationality was incorrect! You are kind. I am always impressed by how much Europeans know about we Americans, and also by how fluent many of you are in English and other languages, apart from Swiss German, French and etc. And, you are also a hearty Outdoorsman, too, so this is also impressive. 👍
If you pitch tents so out in the open, what do you do, if you have to go to the toilet, in the middle of the night or at any other time? I would love a bush or two, to hide in, or behind.

To go the Faroes, first make your way to Copenhagen and then catch a flight to the Faroe Islands.
In the summer there is also direct links between Scotland and the Faroes. Though with the ongoing pandemic situation that might differ. There is also a ferry link between Hirtshals in Denmark and Tórshavn but it is very very long and much more expensive.

@@tareqhussain6364 To be honest I don't know if there is such thing as a transit visa. Depending on your passport you might have to apply for an entry visa, a tourist visa for Denmark which will normally allow you to go to the Faroes... all EU passport holders plus EEA countries and other countries such as USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand South Korea Japan.... do not need a visa. For more information you should contact your nearest Danish embassy/consulate in your country of residence.
Torshavn has the distinction of being the cloudiest city on earth...thank god I live in Phoenix Arizona, the second sunniest city on earth...
