The conclusion to the Halo triology. It's hard to express how it means to me. Thanks to every one that hung out over on twitch while I streamed this! If you want to hang out in the future come give a follow! www.twitch.tv/jarek4gamingdragon
First game I ever played on 360 as a kid. On Xbox in general actually. So take it from a different perspective. It's actually written in a way that even if it's the first Halo you play, it's not hard to understand.
I was one of the people who waited the 13 years to play Halo 3. When I was a kid I didn't have the opportunity to have an Xbox. Yesterday I finished the fight. It was worth the wait.
I know what you feel, i coudln't afford any console when i was a kid, I am 27 now. Playing this was like being Tom hanks when he got rescued in that movie.
@@WonderMePartyStrip Most certainly. I was only 11 but i still convinced my mom to take me to Gamestop to pick up the game at Midnight. I brought the manual to school and would sneak it out and read it during classes like it was drugs or some shit. I had a birthday party 4 months later where i invited like 14 kids from school to come over and play Halo 2 and bring their Xbox so we could system link. I got 5 Xbox S controllers, and 2 copies of Halo 2 as gifts from friends. My mom ordered 150 wings, we set up every TV we owned in the living room, and had the most epic LAN party a 12 year old could have. I'm 27 now and as sad as this may sound, that was the greatest birthday party of my life.
I remember the summer before release, my family was on the way to vacation in Sweden from Norway. Both Norwegian and Swedish newspapers had full double-pages dedicated to Halo 3. I don't think I've ever seen a video game in newspapers since, with the exception of mini-reviews in small columns on the last page or something
Its because it lived up to the hype! I’d personally say MW2 came very close especially for the MP. So many games cannot match the hype they generate. Cyberpunk will be the same.
I honestly just wish halo 3’s campaign was a bit longer. A couple more covenant levels would’ve been awesome. I mostly just say this because Halo 3 makes me want MORE of it.
Halo 3 is basically the Halo 2 stuff they couldn't fit into that latter game at the time. It shows in the level design too, because most of Halo 3 takes place on Earth, which is where the plot of Halo 2 would've originally ended. The last four missions that take place on the Ark have a pretty different feel and tone than the other levels on Earth, and except for Cortana, the levels we got from Halo 3 were about as best as you could expect from the series overall.
Ah yes, The Library, Quarantine Zone and Cortana, my favourite, most played levels of the trilogy, featuring my favourite parasite to ever exist on the Sci-Fi genre, The Flood.
Yeah i don't get why the first 2 get the hate , the flood were meant to come in numbers and overtake you and the library and the level before were really nicely setup ,when i was 10 and played them i couldn't sleep ,but it was nice experience and i didn't mind the repetitiveness . Cortana on the other hand was a bit tiresome mostly because the game stops you 4-5 time's dead in your tracks just for the gravemind or cortana to spew some words , they could have done that with a cut-scene or 2 more in the beginning of the level
Halo 3 is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE to the call of duty 4 campaign mission "all ghillied up" IMHO. That is the number one reason, for me, why Halo 3 kicks so much ass. "Wow I can play this mission a second time and it's actually different, ground breaking I tell you, I don't even have to wait for my commanding officer to open all the doors for me, what kind of voodoo witch craft is this?"
I will absolutely never understand the love for all ghillied up. There is absolutely no freedom, you're playing a movie. It's actually just a bad level.
God Halo 3 was top tier online multiplayer, online game has never been as good since the peek of Halo 3. Still one of my favorite game and god it's a amazing experience ❤️
One of the best things about the multiplayer was the skill, you either got good or stayed a scrub with a low skill level. And it actually placed you with people with a similar skill level. It worked.
My one big complaint with Halo 3 was its clunky Forge that required lots of fiddling to make things look neat. Now MCC Halo 3 allows phasing objects through one another so I'm pretty happy now.
Can't believe OG Halo Bungie fans had to wait for 13+years to include this feature in the MCC . Halo 3's forge on Xbox 360 was garbage. Custom Games were amazing !
I feel like the flood are mostly disliked because they are associated with the worst levels in each game. I honestly really like them, but I can see why people don't like them
The big issue for me is that Quarantine Zone and especially Cortana confused the shit out of me as a kid and I had a really hard time time figuring out where the fuck to go. Replaying Halo 1 the Library is just a straight linear path, and the Halo 2 one wasn't as bad as I remember, but I still didn't like it.
I was a Freshman in high school when this came out. I ended up getting a 360 for my birthday a few months later and was absolutely blown away. Halo 3 WAS the game every one talked about at school and in the media. The graphics were life like, and the multiplayer was large and a blast. People also spoke to each other online and talked trash. I'm not sure if a game will ever have the hype Halo 3 did. Oh, and do you really wake up at 4pm everyday? lol
Halo 3 is so much better than Halo Reach. I was scared after playing Reach that I had rose tinted glasses for 3. I kinda do, but not that much. Halo 3 is actually an amazing game. And the Reach DMR can go to hell.
There's no doubt about that, but personally i still like Halo reach a lot, of course it wasn't as good as halo 3 but that's what happens when you make a game THAT GOOD, after Halo 3 it was almost impossible to do something better than it, unfortunately they couldn't even meet the H3's awesomess with reach :c on a side note: FUCK WEAPON BLOOM
Personally I'll take 'Reach over 3 any day. I find Reach's variety in not just weapons, but customization and abilities to be a breath of fresh air. Back when I was 16 I started with Halo 3, it's what got me hooked, but my love for Halo cemented itself with Reach, and proved itself when H2A came around.
@@artyom8905 I think the bungie team by the time they made reach were a bit tired of doing halo ,was in a video i heard years ago and they were really considering at that time to leave Microsoft for restricting their creative freedom and making them rush games
The first 3 Halo games were the first complete story I experienced as a kid, from beginning to end. I remember when I first got Halo 3, my best friend came over that weekend and we finished the whole campaign together in 1 day. After the credits rolled, we just sat there for a few minutes, soaking it in. Never forget it.
Only thing i can say : I remember how it was, when it came out. The hype, first playing it while being 13 years old, playing the multiplayer for hours. I'll really never forget it, it was a special time for all of us who experienced it while being young. No point explaining it further as anyone who bought it back then with all the money their 13 years old self could save in months will absolutely understand. Also, 3:07 still fucks me up. And now i'm 25, i'm a dad, and when my son sleeps and my wife goes to bed earlier than me, i start the Xbox and play Halo 3 on MCC. Never gets old.
I remember getting Halo 3 for Christmas. Naturally I wanted to play it right away and so my uncle and I ended up staying up all night, and we played through the entire campaign in one sitting. I don't think we even took bathroom breaks, we were both that excited to be playing it. XD
@Agent 005 The hit registration issues come from all the way back to the original Halo 3. And the MCC version wasn't fixed because it was simply not worth the hassle until today, since they were busy taking care of Halo 5 and developing Infinite.
And to clarify the hit registration issues are not, i repeat, are NOT present in og halo 3. The differences are night and day. Halo 3 on 360 does have its inconsistencies but it is nowhere near as bad as it is on mcc and it all goes back to the tickrate being at 60 on mcc instead of the 30 it was made for on 360.
This was nostalgic! 7:00 I remember getting hyped for that announced Halo movie, around 2007 I think? But it fell through, and leaked scripts looked... really bad.
Really good video, awesome work! Gotta say though, imo I actually enjoy the Quarantine Zone more than Cortana given like 1/2 of it is a vehicle section which is pretty decent. Worst part is the end gondola though. I guess the saving grace of Cortana is that it's short, but that one vertical room and the engine room is so annoying to play through when dealing with the long range pure flood forms. Least in Halo 2 you had good ol' active camo to help deal with stuff when stuff got too hairy. I will say that, though Halo 3 is an amazing ending to the trilogy and ties up everything super well, as well as SUPERB cinematography on so many iconic shots, it's also much simpler in story premise now that humanity and elites are united. Halo 2 shows both sides and really has a ton of nuance, and though I guess could be confusing, I love how much it expands upon the universe as a whole. Subjective on preferences I suppose! Unrelated but, also, holy shit the Zetterburn plush? This man plays Rivals of Aether too? That's hype as fuck. Subbed and followed on twitter. Keep up the good work, cheers!
I've been playing Rivals since early access release back in 2015. I literally run the Portland Rivals of Aether scene. RUclips "Jarek's Mind" or "Rivals of Aether Crest Highlights." I'm very active in the RoA scene. Made a lot of good friends.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon That's hella rad, I hope my local RoA scene grows following Definitive Edition's release and this quarantine is over. I'm still relatively new to the scene itself, don't know too much about the NJ scene, but man I'd love to play it locally with people
My favorite game series finally coming back for another generation of kids and adults being able to experience this beautiful series. If only I could get the chance to tell all my old 360 friends thank you I would...were it so easy.
I'm not ashamed. I'm 36, still play EVERY mainline Halo game almost daily, and when you played the clip of the ending with just the music, it brought tears to my eyes. I was 22 when H3 released. My best friend, Matt, introduced me to Halo when it launched back in 02. That game, and subsequent sequels before HReach, changed my life. All the memories or my younger days came flooding back to me when I saw that part of your video. I miss how the world was. I miss how I myself was. Thank you Marty O'Donnell for creating such a mesmerizing soundtrack to such incredible games. Thank you Bungie for creating a game series that, in part, shaped the end of my childhood and into my early adulthood. Great video man. I love being apart of the Halo community. Knowing that many people feel exactly how I do about these games makes me feel good.
God I'm excited to get to this one. I have NEVER played Halo 3 in my life and I am beyond excited to get to it after I finish Halo 2 in the MCC. I remember so many kids talking about it back when I was in primary school but I never got to play it because it was "Too Violent". Been having an absolute blast playing MCC though. I'm basically brand new to Halo so my entire experience is being played blind. Going through the series though I'm growing an immense appreciation for all the titles and the world. Not sure how I'll feel about the 343 titles but hey, I'll give anything a crack. Halo Infinite looks absolutely baller though and I am VERY keen on that
I struggle a lot today with my own happiness and self-fulfillment in the chaos of our modern day, this video reminded me of how I felt at Halo 3's launch and it reminds me that at some point in my youth I was genuinely happy, it seems that I'm not the only one. This game is my heart, and it seems it was a high point in the lives of many. Doom 2016 is the only game that has ever brought me close to that feeling. Thank you for this amazing video.
Glad I found your content, RUclips is desperately in need of retrospective Halo content (even if you don't go too deep into things here, would love to see longform analtical stuff from you!). That being said, I've got to make some disagreements and corrections here. Firstly, about Halo 3's story, voice acting, and music all being better then 2's, and it tying up all the loose ends well: Halo 2's narrative has a LOT of stuff going on: The Arbiter and Chief each have their own stories, but what Half-Jaw or Miranda and Johnson is up is also important and impacts and intersects with the primary narrative threads (for example, the shield around the Library complex Miranda mentions during "Regret" is preventing her and johnson from pursueing the Index is something you then disable as the Arbiter midway through "Sacred Icon") The Arbiter has a whole character development arc, going from a disgraced soldier condemned to death to taking up a sucidide mission to regain his honor, before seeing how he and his people were betrayed and coming to grips with that (though that last bit is sort of rushed). You have thematic symbolism with stuff like MC and Johnson being promoted while the Arbiter is branded for failure; you have tons of subtle environmental storytelling (a floating Forerunner production faculity you see in get blown up and crash in the distance at the end of "Sacred Icon" becomes the burning wreckage you dismount your vehicles to pass through on "Quaratine Zone"), and subtle forshadowing and messaging, such as the implication Truth intentionally let Regret die due to him ordring the Phantoms to withdraw and the Carrier to fire on the temple complex MC and Regret was in before he could have known Regret died (something Half-jaw even comments on in the next cutscene) or him knowing the truth about the array since he mentions Guilty Spark telling him about the "Sacred Icon to start the Great Journey" even though we know Spark had no issues telling the Heretics the truth. Halo 3, frankly, never comes to close to achieving stuff like this with a few exceptions, it's a much simpler story that doesn't delve into complex thematic stuff, as much world building like 2 did with fleshing the Covenant out; and so on. I'd go as far as to say that Truth in particular is absolutely butchered, reduced from a shrewd politican who clearly has deeper plans to just a religious zealot who actually believes the rings will grant him Godhood (with his voice acting also being signficantly worse to match; even the Arbiter I feel doesn't have the same emotional tinge to his lines as he does in 2), and whatever Bungie was going to do with Truth never really touched on. We are also expected to believe that the Flood is all taken care of even though it infected billions of life forms in High Charity, that the Gravemind was stupid enough to commit ALL it's foces to the Ark where they all died, and not leaving some behind in other locations, etc. Music is more subjective, obviously, but I feel like Halo 3's soundtrack is a lot more... generic then CE and 2's. Now, it's still amazing, but wheras CE and 2 both had a wide range of genres and styles to their music (such as CE having both bombastic orchestral tracks to eerie synth and electronic ones; or 2's heavy use of both somber piano pieces and crazy over the top rock and metal themes with electric guitars or actually using insert music from Incubus and Breaking Benjamin), a lot of 3's music feels sort of samey and stylistically similar, especially since almost all of it is just redone versions of CE and 2 tracks, again, all in one style. Again, though, I agree that this is subjective, so if you prefer 3's soundtrack, that's totally cool! On the MP side, I've also got to say that I really think you are overstressing how much H3's balance is improved over 2's. The BR is absolutely less broken (both figuratively and litterally; though as you note the H3 Br being as inconsistent as it is due to spread and low velocity is it's own sort of broken... boggles my mind people complain about DMR bloom so bad but turn a blind eye to that!), but I wouldn't say the AR, SMG, Plasma Rifle, etc are that much more useful. Yes, they are better on paper, but in practice there's still almost 0 situations where you'd keep your AR or Pistol (which I REALLY disagree with you on not being awful, it might be the single worst gun in the series, at least the H2 pistol is decent at rapidly headshotting a bunch of grunts in campaign or when used with a Plasma pistol against elites/human players) over the BR if you came across one or where it's the better gun to use over the BR. Even in a CQB situation, a BR or Carbine user can still sometimes win the encounter as long as they are decently skilled and aren't point blank range, wheras the AR and co are useless past a few feet. I know that that's just sort of how Halo works, but that's IMO not an excuse: the Halo games almost universally having one overdominant utility weapon and a bunch of obselete non precision non power weapons is not a good thing, it is the franchise's single biggest and most longrunning issue, one Halo Reach and then even moreso Halo 5 (which really nailed having a good, versatile utility weapon in it's pistol without it overshadowing other guns) seemed to be working to fix before the TU in both games undid that progress. Also, again, this is subjective, but I vastly prefer CE and 2' (and 5's return to that style a decade later) map design philsophy with denser, more vertical maps: The only map in 3's MP that's not a remake or is outright bad that's like a lot of CE and 2's 4v4 maps is Guardian. Now, for some outright error corrections: Halo 2's BR isn't hitscan, it's actually still projectile based, but due to the values it has it might as well be hitscan, but in a few situations the distinction does become important. Also, 343i has already talked about how they are actively looking into fixing 3's hit registration, they explain in detail what the issue is and why it's hard to fix in a recent blog post.... also, while Reach and 3's audio is BETTER, it is still not entirely fixed and likely will never be since the underlying code or whatever (I'm not a programmer) that the games used for audio codecs back on 360 isn't something the Xbox one or modern PC's have, the actual calculations the code uses is inherently different.... also, Reach (and maybe 3 as well) have some postprocessing issues on MCC nobody seems to talk about (basically effects like fog, rain, lighting bloom, etc are much more diminished due to them scaling properly with resolution) which 343 hasn't even acknowledged yet That all being said, though, again: I'm glad to see you made this video even if we disagree on some things, and I'm absolutely gonna subscribe and check out more of your content.
The flood in Halo 3 are really enjoyable, to fight as they can just fall apart after a sword strike or gravity hammer slam, or hell just melee them they'll fall apart sometimes. It's so sastifying to watch happen.
I'm glad you spent the first portion of the video just talking about the build-up to Halo 3's launch. It's difficult to fully encapsulate just how _monumentally _*_titanic_* Halo 3 was for the gaming industry. At its peak, it could easily go toe-to-toe with [insert Battle Royale game here], and it did it _without_ cross-franchise skins or microtransactions, during a time when "streaming" wasn't even a thing. Halo 3, followed by Modern Warfare 2 a couple of years later, were literally _the games_ that catapulted RUclips's gaming genre to where it is now, with "gameplay commentaries" eventually paving the way for livestreaming. And, of course, Halo 3 multiplayer was largely responsible for legitimizing esports in the public eye (in North America, at least). Not even something as colossal as Fortnite, raking in tens of millions of players a year at its peak, could not lay claim to _half_ of the things Halo 3 achieved.
Just beat the campaign on legendary for the billionth time but this time on pc today. I honestly can’t believe this day has come! Speaking of Halo’s sandbox, I decided to use the unarmed warthog during my legendary run on the last part of Tsavo Highway but gave a fuel rod to each marine and had them all ride in the hog with me. First time I’ve ever done that even after 13 years of playing. But man, what a hysterical blast it was!! God I hope infinite has this degree of freedom in it 🤞🏻Great video!
Great analysis, I remember playing the final Warthog run on coop with my friends back in the day. Crazy to think I’ve been a diehard fan since 2006. Keep up the content!
I remember back in 2007 how I reacted to the cutscenes in the campaign. Especially in the level The Covenant when The Flood allies with you to get to the Prophet Of Truth and stopping the Halo array from firing that cutscene caught me by surprise.
I just turned 21, and Halo is my first memory of gaming. Specifically Halo 2. Halo was technically before my time, but I'm not the kind of person that does not play a game just because it's old. So I'm also infuriated when people in my generation have never played Halo, because it was "Before their time"
I haven't had a multiplayer experience like Halo 3, since Halo 3. It was the entire reason I got a 360. So many memories playing split screen in my friends garage, begging my mom for a 360 for Christmas, got one but had to share it with my 3 step siblings. I even had to play Halo 3 (multiplayer) in front of them to show them it wasn't super graphic or suggestive. I was like, 10-11? It's hard for me to even go back and play it sometimes. I get washed with so many memories of being a kid and playing it I get emotional, knowing that I'll never get that feeling again. I still have my 360 with all the old forge maps and custom games saved on it. Remembering the times we would have full 16 player parties of random people we picked up while playing matchmaking that day. Good times, good times.
Halo 3 had the best voice acting marine of all time, the traumatized/suicidal marine in the Floodgate mission. If you forgot about him. (Shame on you.) Go back and replay the mission and listen to him, his delivery is so amazing. "I... I didn't have a choice... The L.T... the Sergeant... they were all infected! I could see it crawling... sliming around beneath their skin!! A-and then they got up... they s-started to talk! Oh, God! Their voices!! Oh, God! No, make them stop! I did them a favor... y-yeah that's it; I helped them!" Whoever voiced this man should get an Oscar, this is one of the greatest voice acting I've ever heard. You can literally feel his agony, this is one of those moments in games you will never forget.
There will never be a bigger hype around any video game that halo 3 accomplished back in 2007.Halo 3 Mountain Dew,Best looking game console It was awesome I really miss those days :(
The nostalgia. First game I ever played on Xbox 360, my older brother loved it so much he begged our mom for one and when that Christmas came, the rest was history. I had so many memories playing the campaign, playing splitscreen with my brother, playing custom games with my friends (both irl and randos we met online). Such a great game, don’t think we’ll ever see one quite like it again
So what I really liked about reach is how you’re fighting alongside all branches of the UNSC, even the colonial militia and it really felt like it’s a battle where humanity is throwing everything that they have to beat the covenant. If they were to make a Halo3 anniversary I’d just want them to add newer friendly human NPC models In the levels set on earth. Hell even make those marines and troopers have a hodgepodge of the cross-branch BDU like in reach and CE-A and the technically older and outdated insurrectionist/pre-war era BDU that they wear in H2-A, 3 and Halo wars 1.
I loved halo 3 when i was young I forgot how old i was but I remember waiting in lines with my mom for it i have a massive amount of nostalgia and memories of this game.great review
Oh, I remember the Halo 3 hype. If you were in high school or college, you could NOT escape it. A buddy of mine at the time and I would go on all lunch about Halo stuff, theorizing what would be in the game, what would happen in the story, etc. The online forums I frequented were flooded with Halo-related stuff as it approached (and never really stopped until I eventually stopped frequenting them). Hell, as someone who grew up thinking video games were almost exclusively played by guys, I was surprised how many girls I knew that were talking about it. It was EVERYWHERE, and when it finally dropped, it was impossible to escape.
Entering the canyon with the two Scarabs for the first time was such an oh shit moment and I really gripped the controller. So much fun, can not wait to play on PC
Halo 3 came out during my freshman year of college. A buddy in my dorm building and I stayed up all night playing through the campaign on co-op the day I got it.
Tribute, Never Forget, Out Of Shadow, Follow Our Brothers, This Is Our Land, Greatest Journey. All of them legendary tracks. Halo 3, MW2, Gears of War 2, and Fallout New Vegas were the games that set game soundtrack as the primary genre of music I listen to.
@@xalener I think I would to ut for some odd reason Gears 1 just never appeals to me. I started in Gears 2 and mostly because my parents were at that odd stage of not wanting me to see to much blood and stuff (like age 10) and Gears 1 didnt have a filter for it. Theres that but theres also me just not liking it as much. The graphics are kinda wierd with the lighting, the Hammerburst is that semi-cursed burst, etc. Besides that the music is even heavier and somewhat creepy compared to the others. If theres one thing Gears lost as it progressed it was the dark and heavy tones of dread and feeling alone. Even Gears 3 wasnt super intentional of the atmosphere even tho humanity may very well had stepped below a million people.
@JarekTheGamingDragon Just wanted to say thanks for the Halo videos from Reach to possibly 4. None the less, I want to just give thanks for convincing me to get the MCC edition on Steam. Truth was when I was born in 98, I never fully had the chance to play through Halo throughout the years. Hell, the only time I ever played Halo 2 was on the vista. Truth is, playing through these games (despite difficulty with Halo 2), it was one hell of a blast of a series to play in, and thanks for convincing me to give it a try. I never fully realize that this series has an impact on people in the vain of Half Life, Doom, and others to someone who never really fully played it. You never know fun until you're on a Custom Map, rocket spamming your friends in a Free For All while a Seraph smacks into you.
Halo 3 was my first ever halo game I played and I fell in love with the game. My cousin let me borrow his xbox 360 when the game out and the console didnt have a harddrive on it so everytime I turned the console off I had to restart the campaign. I played the first few levels so many time but I had so much fun I kept playing. Eventually I stayed up all day and night and beat the whole campaign in one go. It was ome of my most cherished gaming memories. Halo 3 is one of my favorite games and at the time I didnt even touch the multiplayer.

Learning about the hit registration now makes me understand why people sometimes didn't die when I got a direct hit on them with a tank in multiplayer.
There is a gentle and tragic beauty to Halo 3. Everyone seems worn out and tired. The game is all about ends, death, and even Master Chief sounds less confident and more exhausted - we'll go through the portal with everyone else and go home - like he wants to settle down and if she was a real woman marry Cortana. Even with the other games it is well written so that the original trilogy is its own contained story and it was a Sci-fi epic, all brought to you by gaming and because you played it, you made it happen.
feels good to be back driving warthog in sandtrap or valhalla with the boys, I was getting bored of all the game i was playing and Halo 3 is now on PC and I'm not bored anymore, loved this game back in the day, i could play it all day not feeling bored And I knew that i wasn't crazy that hit registration is weird on pc
Halo 3 was the only reason why I bought Halo MCC. Custom Game Lobbies were the best, and now we're getting a Custom Browser for Halo 3 Customs on MCC. Always gives me goosebumps when I play this masterpiece.
When Halo CE first came out on PC, I was really into tactical shooters, so I was kinda underwhelmed, but playing the anniversary PC ports with a controller, I totally get why the franchise is so loved
man, I thought I was the ONLY one that hated the flood!! I'm more than content if we never have to fight them again. No strategy, just a complete mess.. and the clown balloon shocks in the Warthog! At this time I think it can be tweaked to not handle like a clown car. Good video mang \\m//
This is pretty subjective but the only thing missing for Halo 3 is mods since Halo 3 has potential modding capabilities. Right now, we can only do simple mods like Graphic mods, weapon stat modifications, and a few model swaps at the moment.
I remember when ths game first came out, such a good memory. I was about 4 years old and my bro was 13, he introduced me to halo, and I loved the game ever since. Halo 3 is by far my favourite game. I have played this game since 2006 because I had the chance to play halo2 for half a year and then halo3 came. And even though my bro took the xbox because he moved, I have the pc and I downloaded mcc on there. I asked if I can have a controller from him (he has two) and he gave it to me :) I just feel alot more comfortable with a controller and I get a nostalgia feeling which makes me cry alot because pc players finally have a chance to play this game. Me and my brother have over 10.000 hours played in halo 3 if you count them together (my brother played it alot more than me) and barely playes it on the one except the campaign. I finished the h3 campaign about 40 times already and I stil don't get bored. I mostly played on 360 but now that I rarely use my old 360, I have the pc with a controller to replay every campaign of halo and alot of multiplayer :D To every pc player that chooses to install and play halo (and to those who never played halo before), have fun as much as you can, this game is amazing and I give it a 10/10, you will love the game, I promise you :) Ight that is it from me, see you in the multiplayer
I was 14 years old when Halo 3 came out on Xbox 360 and now over the past less then 2 years I have been replaying it again on my Xbox One X through the Master Chief Collection and again with the recent PC version.
I'd buy this right now, but my MCC broke. After Xbox and 343 logos, everything just fades to black, and I see nothing but the cursor (I play on PC). Anybody knows how to fix this? Any sort of help would be appreciated.
Halo 3 released soon after I picked up my 360. I had just beaten Halo 2 and was so hyped but I was in like 6th grade so I didn’t have income lol. I remember watching the release on tv, crazy hype over a game that I just haven’t seen since
is the multiplayer on pc active for this collection or people move from one game to another? I've always been a fan of halo 3 multi but it wouldn't be so bad trying also old ones but i don't know if mcc for pc will be just a transitory "fashion"
The conclusion to the Halo triology. It's hard to express how it means to me. Thanks to every one that hung out over on twitch while I streamed this! If you want to hang out in the future come give a follow! www.twitch.tv/jarek4gamingdragon
RUclips went to ads in the middle of your recap of commercials...
gotta love that sweet irony
First game I ever played on 360 as a kid. On Xbox in general actually. So take it from a different perspective. It's actually written in a way that even if it's the first Halo you play, it's not hard to understand.
I was one of the people who waited the 13 years to play Halo 3. When I was a kid I didn't have the opportunity to have an Xbox. Yesterday I finished the fight. It was worth the wait.
I did it around 2013, I think. Hadn't got a 360, and my sister had the original X-box, up to that point.
It was worth waiting 13 years? Lol Jesus Christ I'm so happy I had an xbox
I know what you feel, i coudln't afford any console when i was a kid, I am 27 now. Playing this was like being Tom hanks when he got rescued in that movie.
@@airas1494 it was for me because i barely cared about halo. but now I'm loving it
@@airas1494 sorry to piss on you're parade, it was nothing special, now even less so
There will never be another game like Halo 3, the hype will never be matched, plus times were a lot different back then.
khm...Cyberpunk 2077.
@@chrisrichfield8906 Sound amazing man, don't think of it as sad because you cant relive it but happy you got to have that in the first place.
And they did give us more H3 with ODST! We are blessed!
@blazed ona kayak as someone who usually doesnt really like to do a whole lot of driving in games, i fucking love vehicles in Halo
Well... After 13 fckng years here we are, and it's good to be back.
Ah yes, The Library, Quarantine Zone and Cortana, my favourite, most played levels of the trilogy, featuring my favourite parasite to ever exist on the Sci-Fi genre, The Flood.
Wow you are a strong one
rare breed over here
so, you like pain?
Quaratine zone is actually my favorite level from Halo 2. Just felt awesome to be battling the flood while pursuing the humans.
Great recap of the Halo 3 days, brought back a lot of feelings of those times. Good vid
It worked.
Halo 3 and MW2 were the absolute peak
Still the best multiplayer experience I’ve ever had in gaming.
The Believe commercial definitely does not make me cry a lil bit. Nope. Not one bit.
My one big complaint with Halo 3 was its clunky Forge that required lots of fiddling to make things look neat.
Now MCC Halo 3 allows phasing objects through one another so I'm pretty happy now.
It's a much needed improvement, and makes Halo 3 Forge that much more enjoyable.
Can't believe OG Halo Bungie fans had to wait for 13+years to include this feature in the MCC .
Halo 3's forge on Xbox 360 was garbage. Custom Games were amazing !
As someone who uses forge a lot, mcc halo 3 forge is a blessing
I feel like the flood are mostly disliked because they are associated with the worst levels in each game. I honestly really like them, but I can see why people don't like them
The big issue for me is that Quarantine Zone and especially Cortana confused the shit out of me as a kid and I had a really hard time time figuring out where the fuck to go. Replaying Halo 1 the Library is just a straight linear path, and the Halo 2 one wasn't as bad as I remember, but I still didn't like it.
halo 2 wasn't hitscan. it's just absurdly fast projectile.
So basically hitscan
Halo 2 was held together by sticky tape so I’m not surprised something weird like that would be in the game
RARAYAYA RAA it was projectile
the projectiles were fast enough to arrive at their target in 1 tic.
@@disfuncionexe how short is one tic?
I was a Freshman in high school when this came out. I ended up getting a 360 for my birthday a few months later and was absolutely blown away. Halo 3 WAS the game every one talked about at school and in the media. The graphics were life like, and the multiplayer was large and a blast. People also spoke to each other online and talked trash. I'm not sure if a game will ever have the hype Halo 3 did. Oh, and do you really wake up at 4pm everyday? lol
Any thing before at very minimum noon is dead to me. I'm a night person.
Halo 3 is so much better than Halo Reach. I was scared after playing Reach that I had rose tinted glasses for 3. I kinda do, but not that much. Halo 3 is actually an amazing game.
And the Reach DMR can go to hell.
There's no doubt about that, but personally i still like Halo reach a lot, of course it wasn't as good as halo 3 but that's what happens when you make a game THAT GOOD, after Halo 3 it was almost impossible to do something better than it, unfortunately they couldn't even meet the H3's awesomess with reach :c
on a side note: FUCK WEAPON BLOOM
Try "Reach Evolved" makes Reach feel like Halo 3
Personally I'll take 'Reach over 3 any day. I find Reach's variety in not just weapons, but customization and abilities to be a breath of fresh air. Back when I was 16 I started with Halo 3, it's what got me hooked, but my love for Halo cemented itself with Reach, and proved itself when H2A came around.
@@artyom8905 i hear halo 2 is better doe lol
@@artyom8905 I think the bungie team by the time they made reach were a bit tired of doing halo ,was in a video i heard years ago and they were really considering at that time to leave Microsoft for restricting their creative freedom and making them rush games
The first 3 Halo games were the first complete story I experienced as a kid, from beginning to end. I remember when I first got Halo 3, my best friend came over that weekend and we finished the whole campaign together in 1 day. After the credits rolled, we just sat there for a few minutes, soaking it in. Never forget it.
Halo makes everything better. Who else is ready for the Infinite gameplay coming soon!?
Me I’m hyped
Better question....WHO THE HELL ISN'T?!?!
Honestly if infinite isn’t good idk if halo will keep being a series for microsoft
Yeah; ion think non o yall neighbors were ready for halo infinite gameplay
XD
343 Are finally looking at the hit reg issues, they stated in their previous monthly blog
@Agent 005 The hit registration issues come from all the way back to the original Halo 3. And the MCC version wasn't fixed because it was simply not worth the hassle until today, since they were busy taking care of Halo 5 and developing Infinite.
@@Pierucci009 they only decided to look at it once it became profitable for them again
@@deafbyhiphop Yeah, why would they do so otherwise? Studios don't make or maintain games for the sake of it.
@RARAYAYA RAA they put it on pc? On steam? Got more sales? You been under a rock?
And to clarify the hit registration issues are not, i repeat, are NOT present in og halo 3. The differences are night and day. Halo 3 on 360 does have its inconsistencies but it is nowhere near as bad as it is on mcc and it all goes back to the tickrate being at 60 on mcc instead of the 30 it was made for on 360.
The right game at the right time
Sometimes I genuinely forget that halo 3s enemies are ai
I'm still relatively new to the scene itself, don't know too much about the NJ scene, but man I'd love to play it locally with people
Tristate actually has a huge scene. Cake, msb, and penguin are from that area.
Halo 3 and Orange Box in the same year was fucking amazing
And Crysis
Christ, I was 15 when it came out, and I pre ordered the damn thing via a Blockbuster. Now THAT makes me feel old
God I'm excited to get to this one.
Also, 343i has already talked about how they are actively looking into fixing 3's hit registration, they explain in detail what the issue is and why it's hard to fix in a recent blog post.... also, while Reach and 3's audio is BETTER, it is still not entirely fixed and likely will never be since the underlying code or whatever (I'm not a programmer) that the games used for audio codecs back on 360 isn't something the Xbox one or modern PC's have, the actual calculations the code uses is inherently different.... also, Reach (and maybe 3 as well) have some postprocessing issues on MCC nobody seems to talk about (basically effects like fog, rain, lighting bloom, etc are much more diminished due to them scaling properly with resolution) which 343 hasn't even acknowledged yet
That all being said, though, again: I'm glad to see you made this video even if we disagree on some things, and I'm absolutely gonna subscribe and check out more of your content.
Just wanna say, I completely agree on the take about Halo 2 and it's narrative details compared to 3. Really good write up.
I cant read
Definitely one of your best videos! I have very fond memories of Halo 3. Keep up the amazing work you do! Love your energy.
The flood in Halo 3 are really enjoyable, to fight as they can just fall apart after a sword strike or gravity hammer slam, or hell just melee them they'll fall apart sometimes. It's so sastifying to watch happen.
6:57 Jarek predicts Paramount's Halo with the uncanny, bullshit accuracy of a Halo 2 Sniper Jackal.

"You're not old, you were just a kid back then and now you're an adult."
Wow... didn't realize I needed to hear something that blunt.
I remember back in 2007 how I reacted to the cutscenes in the campaign. Especially in the level The Covenant when The Flood allies with you to get to the Prophet Of Truth and stopping the Halo array from firing that cutscene caught me by surprise.
Been loving the MCC a ton, saw you playing it too Jarek, Great Vid =)
Last time i was this early the fight was nowhere near from over.
I remember that believe commercial. Man I was young. Im only 21 now
Halo 3 had the best voice acting marine of all time, the traumatized/suicidal marine in the Floodgate mission.
I did them a favor... y-yeah that's it; I helped them!"
Whoever voiced this man should get an Oscar, this is one of the greatest voice acting I've ever heard. You can literally feel his agony, this is one of those moments in games you will never forget.
There will never be a bigger hype around any video game that halo 3 accomplished back in 2007.Halo 3 Mountain Dew,Best looking game console It was awesome I really miss those days :(
Bro I really do like watching your game analyzing videos
The nostalgia. First game I ever played on Xbox 360, my older brother loved it so much he begged our mom for one and when that Christmas came, the rest was history. I had so many memories playing the campaign, playing splitscreen with my brother, playing custom games with my friends (both irl and randos we met online). Such a great game, don’t think we’ll ever see one quite like it again
Did anyone else get slight nostalgia tears from the believe trailer or was it just me
So what I really liked about reach is how you’re fighting alongside all branches of the UNSC, even the colonial militia and it really felt like it’s a battle where humanity is throwing everything that they have to beat the covenant.
I wondered what was going on with the BR in multiplayer, thank you for confirming that my mind was not playing tricks on me.
Was the 2nd Xbox 360 game I ever had. First online shooter. My childhood in a nutshell.
Damn man. I was just finishing up middle school when this came out, so many positive memories.
Awesome video, though what are your thoughts on Halo 3’s custom games?
thank you for this video, now i can go play Reach because the audio is fixed
That last part of hit registration is so true. I hope they can fix it
God I need to play through mcc. Finished reach then went and started my first actual new vegas run, and then no mans sky updated
Halo 3, MW2, Gears of War 2, and Fallout New Vegas were the games that set game soundtrack as the primary genre of music I listen to.
ngl I like gears 1's score a lot more
@@xalener I think I would to ut for some odd reason Gears 1 just never appeals to me.
@JarekTheGamingDragon
Just wanted to say thanks for the Halo videos from Reach to possibly 4.
I have two words to give halo 2 players PTSD flashbacks ahem...jackle snipers

Seems like someone was having fun with that gun. :P
I'm just that excited about Halo 3 XD
Halo 3 was my first ever halo game I played and I fell in love with the game. My cousin let me borrow his xbox 360 when the game out and the console didnt have a harddrive on it so everytime I turned the console off I had to restart the campaign. I played the first few levels so many time but I had so much fun I kept playing. Eventually I stayed up all day and night and beat the whole campaign in one go. It was ome of my most cherished gaming memories. Halo 3 is one of my favorite games and at the time I didnt even touch the multiplayer.
6:20 minor correction but halo 3 on 360 actually ran at less than 720p; 640p if im not mistaken.
*PC VETERANS:* For us, the Night has passed, the wait is over. But let us never forget those who waited alongside us, but passed away waiting.
For their commitment required patience beyond measure. Determination, and unshakable messege that their community, .... Our community, is everywhere.
As we can now play the game, This platform will remain strong. They ennobled 343, and they shall not be forgotton.
*_(To Microsoft)_* I remember how this wait started. What your platform did to ours. I can't forgive you, but you have my thanks, for standing by them *_(343)_* to the end.
..... Hard to believe it's on PC.
*MICROSOFT:* Were it so easy.
----------
*343:* Things look different since the PC players can Finish The Fight. I would like to work on Infinite, to know that it is great.
*MICROSOFT:* Fear not, for you have made it so.
*343:* By your word, Microsoft.
*MICROSOFT:* Let us work.

(You can help by listing PC Halo fans you knew but died before Halo 3 came to PC in the replies)
Learning about the hit registration now makes me understand why people sometimes didn't die when I got a direct hit on them with a tank in multiplayer.
Finally someone who agrees that Halo 3 didn't need an Anniversary graphics update!
Even with the other games it is well written so that the original trilogy is its own contained story and it was a Sci-fi epic, all brought to you by gaming and because you played it, you made it happen.
feels good to be back driving warthog in sandtrap or valhalla with the boys, I was getting bored of all the game i was playing and Halo 3 is now on PC and I'm not bored anymore, loved this game back in the day, i could play it all day not feeling bored
And I knew that i wasn't crazy that hit registration is weird on pc
The road to 50 are some of the best memories I have of gaming. Absolute banger of a game.
Time to get the dew and Doritos.
The Library and Quarantine Zone are better than Cortana because you don't get stopped by The Gravemind and Cortana talking every 2 minutes
I was hyped for this game wayback in 2007 i preorded It on Blockbuster video xD! and i love this game
Halo 3 and MW2 only Midnight Launches I ever went to. Fond memories
Man I was 5 when this game first came out but my uncle was a huge fan up until he passed away now I play it in honor of him
Halo 3 was the only reason why I bought Halo MCC.
That game fuel was nasty man and it was everywhere. I’m glad someone else remembers it
I miss these days. The beginning gave me alot of nostalgia for a simpler time
man, I thought I was the ONLY one that hated the flood!! I'm more than content if we never have to fight them again. No strategy, just a complete mess.. and the clown balloon shocks in the Warthog! At this time I think it can be tweaked to not handle like a clown car.
Good video mang \\m//
The hit registration is fixed on the Halo 3/ODST flight builds, the hit registration will be patched alongside ODST'a release onto the PC.
Man, fighting the 2 scarabs was really badass
Once saw a guy destroy a scarub with the pistol when I was 8, I will remember it forever
This is pretty subjective but the only thing missing for Halo 3 is mods since Halo 3 has potential modding capabilities. Right now, we can only do simple mods like Graphic mods, weapon stat modifications, and a few model swaps at the moment.
TRAMSFORMERS & HALO 3 was my life as a kid back in 2007.
Not just bungies peak but halos peak overall
I'd agree but I'd also like to point out that Halo 5's MP is *really* good.
I mostly played on 360 but now that I rarely use my old 360, I have the pc with a controller to replay every campaign of halo and alot of multiplayer :D
To every pc player that chooses to install and play halo (and to those who never played halo before), have fun as much as you can, this game is amazing and I give it a 10/10, you will love the game, I promise you :)
Ight that is it from me, see you in the multiplayer
When you compare Sierra 117 to All Ghillied Up, you know who the winner is.
Delete it and reinstall it. Happened to me when Halo 2 came out.
@@Fightin_Mongoose I already did that. Didn't help. Thanks, though.
See on reddit or RUclips.
Quarantine Zone is one of my favorite missions...
Halo 3 released soon after I picked up my 360. I had just beaten Halo 2 and was so hyped but I was in like 6th grade so I didn’t have income lol. I remember watching the release on tv, crazy hype over a game that I just haven’t seen since
great video
is the multiplayer on pc active for this collection or people move from one game to another? I've always been a fan of halo 3 multi but it wouldn't be so bad trying also old ones but i don't know if mcc for pc will be just a transitory "fashion"
MCC will eventually have cross play with xbone so this isn't a concern. Either way it's immensely popular right now.
