A handmade Japanese iron kettle can cost over $300. For centuries, artisans have made kettles by pouring molten iron into molds and hammering them out once they’ve cooled. These kettles often have beautiful designs but they’re only used for boiling water. You can buy a mass produced stovetop kettle for $20, so what makes these kettles unique? And why are they so expensive?

@Harem__King 🤔 You're partially right, but how can we 'normal' people who genuinely want a piece of authentic Japanese art know where to buy it and if it's legit? 🤔 #ArtEnthusiast #AuthenticityMatters

The only way you can guarantee it will be good quality is buying from an authentic reputable brand or pot maker.

If these are made of iron, won't putting water in it and boiling it cause it to rust?

Thats the whole idea behind using iron. Taste. Its been proven safe for consumption

Rust is prevented through following the care instructions. Empty the kettle and warm it up again to evaporate the water.
