  • Jamie and Doug have been trying for baby #3, which has been going on for over 2 1/2 years. Their latest update included Jamie getting more labwork done, focusing on the couples genetic profile, and seeing if they are carriers of any specific genes or traits that would have an effect on pregnancy. They went through this with their first born, and Jamie and Doug found out they both are carriers of a Biotinidase Deficiency, which has a 25% chance to pass on to their children. When Jamie mentioned that to the specialist, she gave a very serious warning as to what that would mean for the baby, if that deficiency was passed on. Jamie also finds out about some health conditions and nutrition information that can have a direct impact on her fertility!

Maria's Mom actually passed away a while ago from her brain cancer. Wish you had done research and known this instead of saying " If you see her apologize for me. " That just came across to the family

I don’t think they know what they are going to be talking about before the show. Most people wouldn’t hold them against that! Innocent mistake 💜

Can you please keep updating on how the next month or two goes for you Doug? As far as how you feel with the medication coming out of your system? Also what's the best way to contact you ? I have a close friend who I think would benefit from this but have a few questions. Thank you

Doug and Jamie, Please don't think cancer is an automatic death sentence. I had a uterine death scare. I had been trying to get pregnant for 9 years when I found out I had to have a radical hysterectomy, and for anyone that doesn't know what that means, it means that for anyone that has tried to have a baby for that long chances are it is an immediate death sentence. I was 29 when I found out that it would never happen because everything that made me a woman had to surgically be ripped from my body. Or so I thought about being a woman.
It was devastating for my entire family. My daughter who was so invested in having a brother or sister. Myself and my husband had been so ready to move mountains in order to make this happen only to find out the mountains weren't there to move. We all went through a myriad of emotions from my stigmatizing myself for not being able to do what women were supposed to be designed to do with never a thought there was something wrong with *me* that would prevent me from having another baby, after all I had one so how could it be that because of _me_ that it meant I couldn't have another one.
To my husband being in shock himself but finding himself having to suppress his feelings in order to become the "rock" that I and my daughter needed to make it through this crisis. After all my daughter wasn't his biological daughter so now I give couldn't him that. And not only that but the survival rate at that time, 30 years ago, was measured at 5 years tops for cervical and uterine cancer survivors. And to add insult to injury I had to have a total annihilation of what it meant to be a woman on Mother's day of that year with no guarantee I would survive the 5 year best medical timeline.
But he rose to the occasion. He asked me how he couldn't be her biological father when the blood that runs through his heart clearly says he loves her with all his heart and would do whatever it takes to make sure she never questions his love and the unconditional lengths of protection he was always prepared to commit for her safety. Which we had always planned to happen but her sperm donor was always reluctant to do it until he realized my diagnoses meant he would be fully responsible for her if I should actually die. Then he made a mad dash to the court to remove his parental rights.
Then to top it off, and this was the first time we heard it, when the judge asked her if she understood what my husband meant when he wanted to adopt her. She quickly interrupted the judge and said "Oh no. I'm adopting him!". The judges reaction after hearing her answer was immediate. _Adoption Granted_
As you can see I made it well past the 5 year timeline. By a total of 28 years, 5 months, 2 days and counting. That's not to say I've lived without total anxiety. Clearly I couldn't. The first 6 or 8 years was riddled with anxiety and depression. Constantly on edge with an axe tittering over my neck threatening to chop it off any minute. At about 9 years the anxiety started to lessen and by about 11 or 12 years it was much more manageable. And after 20 years I don't suffer from anxiety related to a death sentence any more.
I wish I could say it didn't affect my marriage but it did. We separated for a couple of years but how can you let a man like that go without working on the problems? We are happily back together and learning how to confront those challenges so they don't cause those kinds conflicts again.

@@izzy12285 Bless you for taking the time to read all of it.
This is the one and only comment I really hope the content provider reads if for no other reason than to suggest that predictions need to leave room for miracles and while it's not a high percentage, it does happen more than people realize.
Plus the fact that their particular form of cancer could be potentially curable especially if the information you received is second hand...the informing source could be extremely vested in that person's health and falls into the trap that no matter what they hear with their ears their hearts and brains always hears something else. So just be careful of the wording you impart on the cancer patient until you hear from them.

Maybe because you look at it as trying to get pregnant and don’t seem to enjoy it at all. You’re thinking of it as a job to do. Sounds so stressful and not fun. I think you need to just enjoy each other and if pregnancy happens, amazing bonus.

Have you ever noticed Doug changing the subject of things Jamie is trying to say? Why haven't you said Doug makes it all about him? Let me point out a video one time of Doug could have been thought of trying to change the subject a couple of times.
      This one.
Now go back and watch some older ones. I'd be willing to bet you'd find enough in short order to prove my point of disparaging Jamie for the same thing that Doug does but find no wrong in how he does it. But I'll guarantee you wouldn't admit it even if you say you did see it. Your obvious contempt of Jamie says more about you than it does about her.

      Leave Jamie alone.
Just admire her beautiful face and her strong character and narturing personality . I mean, growing up with an addict mom, raise your siblings while carving a career, then end up with a addict as a husband🙆‍♀️. She's strong.
