    1. Wet the sponge as you normally would
    2. With the water still running, use a bar of soap of your choice and rub your sponge against the soap
    3. Once your sponge looks physically clean, squeeze the water and soap out of your sponge until the bubbles are gone/water runs clear
    4. Set aside to dry

    I do this when ever I wash my hair. I just take the sponge into the shower with me and while I let my conditioner set I wash my sponges with a bar of soap because it super fast. It takes me about 2 mins per sponge and my conditioner has to go sit for 5 to 10 mins so it times out perfectly.

    • @clticspin
      @clticspin 6 лет назад +5

      Jacey Davis The cracks in the sponge are because the soaps are drying. I use body wash to wash my sponges and they come out sparkling clean and I never get cracks in them at all. But I use a Shea Butter body wash. Soap and moisturizer together make my sponges last for eons!

  • @melissamj2270

    I use the zote bar soap they sell it a Walmart for 98 cents per bar and it lasts a long time and I use that too wash my beauty blenders and after that I go with the original soap from beauty blender to make them more squishy.because after a regular bar a soap it does feel a little harsh and I also use it for my brushes and I add coconut oil to get the makeup fully out of the brushes ( BTW THE ZOTE BAR IS A LAUNDRY SOAP AND IT WORKS REALLY GREAT!)

      this is actually such a good idea!

    • @dominipsabe
      @dominipsabe 4 года назад +39

      This is actually more wasteful, since shower heads have a larger flow of water per second. You could try using a small trickle of water from the sink or filling a small bowl with water at a time and seeing how many rinses it takes. In conclusion, beauty blenders are quite difficult to thouroughly clean out and dissinfect, it's ability to retain moisture makes it a very easy place for bacterial/fungal growth even with this cleaning method. There are better alternatives such as: a flat thin sponge (a little easier to clean and dry), a silicone sponge, a velvet (textile) puff, or a brush.

    I've tried the hack where you fill a bowl with dish soap , water and a little bit of olive oil. Dump your beauty blender in it and microwave for a minute to 2 mins. The hot water to me kills the bacteria and softens the makeup buildup. The olive oil also helps with breaking up the foundation in the beauty blender. Let the water cool down before you squeeze out the soap and run it under water

The techniques I used would get some of the foundation and contour out but the beauty sponges would always end up with with either the sponge taring or what i thought were stains until i tried this and it got them right out. i can not believe i am just now finding out about this! WOW! i can't thank you enough, this is going to save me so much money!

      Maxine Carli if you are still looking, use a small cup of water thats microwave-proof and drop your blender and a couple pumps of liquid soap in it, then microwave for about 1-1.30 minutes (until the water is pretty hot, be careful). Squeeze out the blender and it should be pretty clean. Mine takes 2 cups (each 200 ml) at 1.20 minutes to be squeaky clean + the almost boiling water kills a lot of bacteria.
      Just be careful when squeezing out your sponge, the water inside is rly hot.
