What a fantastic idea for a halloween one-shot. House on Haunted Hill is one of my all time favorite films, but I've never even considered playing it as an rpg. That's brilliant!
Great job adapting that classic film into a Lovecraftian one-shot. I love that you just grabbed the characters right from the film and your players just ran with it. Were they familiar with the film at all? If I ran this for my gaming group I know my wife would catch on immediately, because she is the one that introduced me to that film. I used to know a guy who worked as a DJ and one time he burned a cd for me with all sorts of old time Halloween novelty songs. Your audio tracks here reminded me of my friend and his cd. I love the great creepy design of the face of your doll in the chair. Yikes.
For the magic 8 ball 🎱 mechanic, it seems like there are a lot of dead options? No? Haha It looks like all the red “negative” answers result in a live character still? Or am I wrong?
All the green options are YES, so that means, "Yes the character is dead". There are 5 neutrals, which means, "Ask again next round" and then 5 'No" answers which means, NO the character isn't dead and they stabilize at 1 HP. So yes, HALF the results means DEAD.. just like rolling a 1-10 on a d20, which is the original mechanic.

Love Professor Dungeon Master’s Eldritch Hack. I’ve played two one shots with it, and my players had a blast.
I modified this game to be used for a detective game based on the tv show Total Recall 2070.
