TM is a 7 for me, this is a 9.5 and after our first play my wife said let's sell TM and San Juan, but I said we will keep Race for the Galaxy, for now.
Great review! Just wondering, is this game easier than TM? I need easier games to play with my kids, and this seems easier to understand, but the recommended age shown on bgg is the same. What is your thought?
If you've played phase based games like Race for the Galaxy or San Juan then the game isn't too difficult to understand, but there is *a lot* of studying cards, figuring out what they do, and making decisions on how they fit without your tableau. I'd guess at least 12 years old to really be able to focus and put everything together.
So you're saying it's like San Juan... which is Puerto Rico the card game, but I regularly play both and many like San Juan better (I don't but I've heard many do). Never played TM (so behind), but I back Ares Expedition because I think it'll be easier to get into since I've missed out on all the TM stuff. Can't wait for it to ship!

fantastic review and usual Bryan. Always looking forward to seeing a new review pop up on here from you good sir :-)
Thanks Timothy!
Five years from now, we're so gonna make fun of this video. In the mean time, keep up the good work.
Truth lol!
Just an FYI the "collector's edition" has dual layer player boards so your cubes don't slide around (but the main board is still single layer).
Excellent review! 5 years, really? Time flies
That’s how I feel!
Just stumbled across this one. Never played TM the original. This sure was fun.

Creamy Dove-Soap, Game of Thrones look
I only assume your Jumpin Jeff Farmer “full force “ reference was intentional.
Oh man!

What?! Speak up! I can't hear you over here in these hills.
I personally disagree regarding the look being better. Only the art is better (subjective though), but the graphic design is much worse imo.
This is Terraforming Mars Lite
Essentially yes.
