I thought the 61's had the stacked volume and tone controls for each pickup. The single master tone control didn't come out until mid 62. Did you switch to the control plate and potentiometers?
Superb playing. The bass sounds either compressed or one of "less fortunate" sounding. It is really interesting how some basses from that era are just noticeably more responsive than others (more general thought, rather than specific to this instrument). Vintage does not mean necessarily desirable (other than collectible)
What a treat! That’s the right way to demonstrate such an iconic instrument. Finally, not by done by an arrogant overconfident guitarist who thinks he can bass as well.
Probably a 62. Fender transitioned from stacked knobs to three pots at some point in 62. John Paul Jones' jazz bass is a 62. That's the year he bought it.
I can hear the years of experience. A pleasure to listen to. GREAT PLAYING LUKE.
Finally! A pre - CBS jazz bass.
Great sounding axe! Compliments to the professional bassist who played it!
What a great sounding bass and in no small part as a result of Luke Capon's playing! Wow!

Its a 62/63.
Minimal compression? that bass sound too compressed
Как они надоели когда играют пальцами, а не медиатором...
Sorry, with this bass player it is impossible to note the tone of the bass...
Nice playing but very poor and boring bass tone.
