When Liz Cheney is your number one supporter you have your self a problem
The DNC has made me Proud to be an Independent.
the DNC Corporation did a 180° on Free Speech, Informed Medical Consent, and being Anti-War
Exactly.
Really wasn't a 180. They've always hated those things
YUP! Me too. Free speech. Free thought. Truth. Transparency. Pro America.
DNC is captured, they are the party of the Deep State
Not to mention them going over the edge on social issues losing all common sense…
Many of us are Independent. I've always been a Dem, but the DEI/WOKE isms and pro-war/pro illegals made me leave.
I like Tulsi and RFK Jr. I doubt I will go back because the left still hasn't learned.
Same. The demands for thought conformity and suppression of free thought and free speech. Independent for life.
Great! Although id still vote republican, I'm still an independent by ideology. There are relatively good and bad politicians in every party.
They become anti American progressively, that's what I noticed
Amen. I didn't vote for Trump or Harris. I voted for RFKJ. If he hadn't been on the ballot I would have skipped the top of the ticket. I changed my registration to Independent after 45 years as a Democrat.
Exactly, pro-war, pro-illegals, WOKE and also how undemocratic Kamala's selection/nomination was made me leave.
I got to know of Tulsi from Joe Rogan, he had her on multiple times. So it was easy to warm up to kennedy when he was on rogan too. You spend 3 hours of long answers with someone and you get a sense of them better than 3 mins on ABC morning news.
Gabbard wants power for the sake of having power. She doesn't have a coherent ideology, and she's never held a position she won't abandon for the sake of power.
And the people who can't show up for 3 hours of an honest competition look like phonies.
They are talking about Trump like he is a narrow, cult-like leader. Yet he has widened the Republican tent significantly so that the party is by far the big tent, moderate party on many issues and the democrats are the narrow party allowing for no dissent.
Trump has managed to widen/add to the party every election cycle. The left/democrats while referring to Trump as "cult like" have proven they lack any self reflection.
this is the key difference. While the republicans are led by Trump there is a lot of ideological diversity and people arent shouted down for disagreeing with 100 percent of what is said or done
Really simple answer. The left doesn’t permit dissent or criticism.
YUP!
And yet they project being a cult onto the right
It's like a cult.
Plus they jumped the shark on social/culture issues - they have gone over the edge
And, they're not the "left," they are just another form of conservatism. The DNC is not the old Democrat party.
I consider myself a centralist with right leaning tendencies. The problem is there is absolutely no room on the left for someone like me. The way the left currently stands I wouldn't want to be on the left any way.
👍👍👍🙏✌️

The Democrats smearing of Tulsi in the 2020 primaries was what red-pilled me about the media
Independent here, I was supporting the RFK Jr campaign. I voted for Trump for the first time not because I like him a lot, but because of RFK Jr and Tulsi.
I agree, I think RFK and Tulsi are the best part about his cabinet. I hope they get confirmed. I know all Democrats will oppose them unfortunately.
It started under Obama. The tendency to drift more toward authoritarian behavior, toward a purity spiral, and toward excluding anyone who had unacceptable questions, concerns, or opinions.
I am left wing on most issues and I can tell you the worst thing about the "left" is that there is a disgusting level of conformity that proceeds well into the territory of cult-like behavior. This goes especially for main centre-left parties like UK Labour, Canada's NDP, Australian Labor, NZ Labour and so on, as well as for "liberal" parties like the US Democrats, Canada's Liberals and so on.
Non-conformism should apply to one's politics, instead it applies to the act of having showers.
This political conformism combined with tokenist cultural non-conformism is why so many good people leave these parties.
former Aussie Labor supporter here... your 100% right... once you get out you really can look upon it with fresh eyes and see the cult like thinking. its akin to getting out of a bad relationship you stayed in for way to long.. and your seeing how bad they were and wondering "why tf did i not leave earlier"
@@Pine_Gap_Island exactly! One of my old school type liberal friends has said the exact same thing with the cult like mentality. His current gf is a far left type progressive and he talks to me about some of the meetings she has with others. It's truly wild to me the way that they operate, only certain type people in each meeting, so they can tell them what they want to hear, etc.
They chased me out just by being generally quite nasty.
Well yes, I always considered myself a liberal, until the lockdowns. Then I became a skeptic- not of liberalism, but of what the 'left' was trying to do.
I find it truly nauseating that they use the phrase, "kiss the ring" while ignoring their own cult like behavior. At least conservatives/Republicans allow dissenting opinions and a wider variety of thoughts.
Nobody is a Conspiracy Theorist now, because nearly all of them are proving to be correct.
Russell Brand said "What's the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth? About six months."
@@j3dwin Same with Parody. The Babylon Bee is having a real struggle keeping pace.
It’s not liking Trump that unites us. It’s being DONE with the Dems!
💯
The Democratic party lost RFK Jnr and Tulsi Gilbard because they became woke and autocratic.
The party abandoned the Democratic values that they held over the years. The party left RFK Jnr and Tulsi Gilbard and then they left the party
***The Democratic party lost RFK Jnr and Tulsi Gilbard because they became woke and autocratic.*** 😞
RIGHT ON ! ... but they still are running into the same WOKE wall, and are expecting the different result ...🙂
Tulsi is MAGA, not Democrat, or RINO. I feel she truly has our (USA) interests as top priority.
She is a true nationalist in the best, most beautiful sense of the word.
What 🤣🤣🤣
Regrettably also MIGA. But that seems to be a pre-requisite for any sort of political power.
@@Pine_Gap_Island No you could be a lying racist dem.....
She has her desire for power as a top priority
Midterms will not be kind to Democrats if they can't find at least one issue that they can fix.
Hint: crying "Trump Bad!" is not a fix.
you’re wrong … because of President Trump … his open-mindedness opens the door for the likes of Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr …
RFK said he didn't left Democratic party. They left him.
"Ideological flexibility" and "absolute loyalty to Trump" can't both be true at once.
Vindictive? Trump is not the one executing lawfare. He says his views out loud. He can shift on them.
Trump HAS to accept big differences, such as RFK on oil. And significant range of opinions about social issues.
He’s saying the real thing out loud.
Trump/Vance NEED to deliver these 2-4 years. If they don’t get things cars, homes, insurance, taxation, etc down or handled. Democrats will use that as ammo on him in the midterms. Then he will be at gridlock.
You've seen what Trump has done in just a few weeks right? You think he's not trying? Dems are freakin out & melting down every which way. If voters do not see it, cant open their eyes & turn on him in the mids, they America deserves to destroy itself. Everyone has expectations & we all want it quick. The US government is a gigantic monolith thats almost impossible to steer, nevermind the resistance from every corner. Either people have faith or sure, vote otherwise. Dont cry when you no longer have a country as all
What a profound insight, thank you Cassandra 🙄😂
@ ok 💀
I've been anti-institution for pretty much my whole life, 45 now. In my younger years it was leftists agreeing with me mostly, today it's people who lean right. This dude has a point that people like me haven't changed much of our mindset but the big 2 party that seem to accept us today would be the GOP
Tulsi Democrat, Full MAGA Republican here. Love Tulsi, Love Trump, Love USA. 🎉
You seem VERY confused
@Johnfisher12345 maybe they just don't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. I'm a HUGE rfk fan but I'm also a fan of trump
@@Johnfisher12345 No, you seeing this as confusion is why more Democrats cannot get their heads around this. Not implying your a Democrat, but the confusion is all on the D side.
Trump is not opposed to the FBI or other law enforcement. He is against secrecy and lawfare.
Trump wants the lawfare to stop and complete transparency!
The fact this guy thinks they will do well in the midterms shows how out of touch and delusional he is.
Democrats lost me with identity politics, fiscal irresponsibility, unreasonable gun laws, high taxes, and national security establishment.
Fiscal irresponsibility LOL! Trumps tax cuts added way more to the deficit.
@@tonyg76 yes they did add to the deficit and he was not fiscally responsible. I am still not convinced of his fiscal responsibility.
Ahhh, but the original post is about democrats not trump. It so happens that they have both been seen as irresponsible with the budget. The difference is that Trump now sees it as a problem and democrats still don't.
With Democrats, if you disagree with 2% of their position, you are out.
With Republicans, if you agree with 2% of their position, you are welcomed.
It's normal for people to move away from FASCISM..... even more so for fair minded people.
Same way they lost me. They are f'ing crazy!
Wrong. That flexibility you are referring to is "you are allowed to disagree with them, if your disagreement is rooted in something substantive". They are open to conversation where as it is completely polar opposite in the Democratic party. They try to ruin your life in any and everyway possible if you disagree or call them out on their BS.
9/11 truther? Explain building 7. It's been 24 years, and there still isn't an explanation
Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report Popular Mechanics gives a very good explanation.
WTC 7 was heavily damaged by debris from the collapse of WTC 1 (North Tower), igniting fires on multiple floors.
The fires burned uncontrolled for hours due to failed sprinkler systems.
NIST's 2008 report concluded that thermal expansion of steel beams caused the failure of a critical column (Column 79), leading to a progressive collapse.
No Explosives Found:
NIST found no evidence of explosives in the debris or seismic records.
No audio recordings captured the sounds of a controlled demolition, which would have been extremely loud.
Free-Fall Speed Misinterpretation:
WTC 7 did experience a brief period of free-fall acceleration, but this was explained by the sequential failure of internal columns before the exterior collapse.
Larry Silverstein’s "Pull It" Comment:
Silverstein later clarified that he meant to "pull" the firefighters out of the building, not to demolish it.
Final Report on the Collapse of World Trade Center Building 7
Published: November 2008
Summary: NIST conducted an extensive investigation into the collapse of WTC 7. Their findings concluded that the building's collapse was primarily due to fires ignited by debris from the collapse of WTC 1 (the North Tower). These fires burned uncontrolled for nearly seven hours, leading to the failure of a critical interior column, which initiated a progressive collapse of the structure.

Building 7? I thought the World Trade Centre was called the "Twin Towers" because there were only two buildings.
The shift from liberal to progressive. That's the answer. Collective blame and collective guilt have no place in liberal thinking.
People have forgotten what a leader looks like
Im picturing Joe eating an icecream in my head.....
I didn't leave the left, the left left me.
The Democrats treated RFK Jr and his supporters with total disrespect.
I was a Dem for decades. I voted for Trump because Tulsi and RFK Jr endorsed him.
It's wild how this guy can talk down about "conspiracy theorist" does he not know they have been right on just about everything especially the past 5 years. Wake up man.
Barkin makes some good points, but completely misses on others. If you disagree with Trump doesnt get ;you exiled.
Yep, covid made me go from longterm Dem to Independent forever
Fair points about the right, but the idea that the left isn't cultish is hilarious
What sitting president wouldn’t want to surround himself with ppl that are “loyal”??? Don’t confuse loyalty with submission and enabling.
More people should wake up to the fact that no one is actually on your side. So maybe don't go all in for one team in the future and stay on the fence.
Such an easy question. I always disassociate myself from: 1) People constantly asking for money. 2) People who spend more than they make (1 and 2 go together). 3) "Know it all, I'm always right" people. 4) People who believe government should be big in in our lives. All 4 characteristics describes many lefties.
Don't ask why Dems are fleeing the Party. Ask why the Party is pushing them away.
Tulsi will soon become the first female US president in history.
This dude 😂
I was a lifelong Democrat, born and raised in Chicago, and voted straight Dem up to and including Obama, in his 1st term.
My values did not change, the parties did.
In the Presidents of my lifetime, from Carter to 2nd Term Trump, Trump is the ONLY one that has fought in earnest, to fulfill his campaign promises.
"I'm not a conspiracy theorist myself...". (approx 11:00). - Ross Barkin. What an idiot!
I don't know how anyone could not be a conspiracy theorist at this point.
I understand Niall's concerns, but this is very tame compared to the last four years of Democrat party and Democrat run media authoritarianism.
Always voted Democrat then I saw how they did Bernie and RFK Jr... So I voted Republican for the first time last year after Bobby dropped out.
The guests lately have been decidedly anti-Trump - anti-populist etc. Thought The Hill was supposed to have diverse opinions.
When you, as an individual, dont think for yourself, someone, the DuNCes, will do the thinking for you.
Covid mandates was the beginning of the end with me and the Democratic party.
Because they are corrupt to their core
This is the way elections and governments should be run by bringing the best of the people from everywhere in society together and leading the country. We've had enough of this phony chauvinistic party system. Bring the best ideas and best people together.
Vindictive - i only saw Vindictive law suits against Trump
I remember in the 70s while learning about racism in school, it was pondered that perhaps one day, reverse racism could occur. I never thought I'd ever see us make that mistake (again), and yet, that's what was happening.
Niall, he has a grip yes but there are many potential leaders in the next group. Where is the next charismatic or even lukewarm leader? There are none. Best could have been Kennedy.
Warmongering and vote buying did it for me.
As a past lifelong Dem along w good company Trump, Tulsi, RFK, Elon and the "All In" podcasters too.
Because they can identify Maoist Communism when they see it?
The guest really had that, "I can listen to this guy" voice
The Hapsburg Empire was very diverse: German, Serb, Hungarian, Jew. It didn’t matter so long as you were loyal to the Emperor. When the Empire broke down, the ethnic cleansing began. We can expect the same.
I reregistered as No Party Preference a few years before Covid. If I hadn't the lies and government overreach during Covid, open borders, embracing of gender and race ideology, and lack of a primary for the Presidential election would have driven me away. I hope they reform themselves but I'm not expecting anything significant any time soon.
I think the rise of Trump catalyzed it more than COVID, but COVID certainly didn't help.
I voted third party in 2016 to try to teach the Dems a lesson. A lesson they still haven’t learned.
They didn't just lose Tulsi and Kennedy. They lost Elon Musk, too. He used to be a Democrat.
How did they lose the smartest man in the world 😂
ANYBOSY NOTICE how, when in the last couple of years, SEVERAL DOZEN influential and important Democrats have, in disgust, left the Democratic Party... while I can't think of even one Republican that's left to become a Democrat?
Somebody should make a list. It would be impressive indeed.
The divide was clearly along Income lines, regardless of any other demographic.
After over half a century, I concluded that about the party well before Gabbard and Kennedy. During the pandemic. Under Lyin' Biden.
I disagree with most of what the man said but I'm glad Reason invites and listens to him. We should hear the right and the wrong (oops left) no matter what. Because truth lies in the heart of the debate.
I understand, but this not Reason, it's The Hill, though Robbie works for Reason too.
Will D obstructionism increase or decrease D support at the polls in '26?
Try to resolve differences and tolerance are essential to democracy.
Fair points!
It reminds me of that cartoon showing the 70's dem and the 2020's dem, the old hippy vs the woke liberal, with their support stickers being complete oposites of eachother.
They ran them away by what they were doing.
Go away Nial
I'd rather be surgically fused to Nial then listen to Jessica or Brie again
@privard89 That’s like saying you’d rather use name brand vs. store brand toilet paper. They’re both still toilet paper, good for one thing only.
Neil is the best addition to the show in many many years
I know right?! They handed them to us on a silver platter. The two most significant appointees were democrats just a little while ago, its just not easily believable. This just tells us that party doesnt matter, you can do the right thing for people if you choose to do so.
"Lose"...
They both were laughed out of the party
Because they don't care if they leave.
This guy sounds completely accurate to me
Don't know who Ross is but I am college educated and I don't trust any of the higher institutions or 3 letter govern clubs
Good guest.
America has weak political parties.
Do you know what opportunists are? Then you know the answer to your question.
Only if Bernie isnt so old. Tulsi could be a great candidate.
Can they stop with the anti Trump talk? Can they define how they will fight the establishment and money in media and fight money in government?
Barkan = smart kid
Not sure why this is so complex. The Democrats are the equivalent of religious fanatics where specific doctrine (that tends to empower the few) must be followed. Republicans don't believe in specifics but just share the same goals and beliefs regardless of the specific practices of the individual.
Christians a few hundred years ago were killing each other based on how one prayed or viewed baptisms or confessed their sins, now most Christians don't care about the details of other denominations or sects as long as the big picture aligns.
Republicans in general just want things to be better, there are a thousand different ways to make the environment better and a thousand different people can pursue it in their own way while Democrats only want to enforce a single way and everyone needs to follow.
This show is no longer the show it used to be.
The Dems have turned into a cult😂
I can think of at least two prominent Democrats who have similarities to Trump regarding fidelity and cult draw. Both in a bit different way than Trump.
Nancy Pelosi and Barrack Obama. I would probably include Hillary Clinton with Pelosi. Obama has that cult draw, but a more passive/aggressive fidelity expectation (less prominent than Trump though). Pelosi/Clinton are both high fidelity/vindictive people, but don't really draw people to them.
Honestly, I can see HRC and DJT being VERY similar politically and in personality. Trump is more driven by praise/popularity and Clinton is more driven by power itself.
I tend to doubt the real time accuracy of the education/ political party demographic stats at this point in time. Have they even factored in education levels re: tendency to vote Independent; or, education levels in Libertarian or other 3rd parties? Even if these stat are completely accurate- that a higher education is directly correlated with voting Dem- have they also looked at IQ levels? ;)
@@KK-111 I've known a lot for formal education people, and non formal education folks and the majority of people with college degrees aren't as intelligent as the others. Intelligence factors is more than just IQ, or an ability to test throughout college. I've known masters and doctorates that couldn't change a lightbulb and hs graduates that knew how to engineer.
@@Andy-vh2ue Yes, totally agree~
@@KK-111 it's and interesting proposition though if someone could get enough data sets to correlate between voting blocks, etc. Or is the underlying issue that the more "formal education" allows people to have more propaganda involved. 🤔
@@Andy-vh2ue Not sure. Personally speaking, I had plenty of higher education as a young person.. and one thing that my education taught me was to have the confidence to be able to think for myself. So.. I kind of distrust the narrative that those with more education are more apt to be more gullible to mainstream narratives. To me, that doesn't make any sense. So, this is why I'm postulating that the data we are hearing is either wrong, or incomplete.
@@KK-111 I'm not sure either. I've had some formal education myself but growing up I was taught to question everything and to think critically about things. But. hearing what I have personally about the issues with higher education, it makes me wonder. It's been 25 years since I was in college, except for my technical degree I got in 2012. If you read history about the US govt affairs, IE Gulf of Tonkin, infecting or not curing syphilis in the black community, Waco and Ruby Ridge, I tend to question everything regardless. I think it's possibly and incomplete data set but I don't discount that years of hearing the same type of narrative, doesn't force it to sink in.
